1 day since the last chapter…

Succubus Homeland, Magical Forest(Former Swamp)

Rex was riding on the back of a large white bear who had a metal drum strapped to his back that Rex was using as a backrest as they ran towards the large pool in the center. Over the last few days, a transformation had been happening to him, he had been growing taller, and he was looking healthier. His skin had a healthy glow, and his eyes had a shine to them as he held onto the bear's white fur. Around them was a fantasy terrain where they were surrounded by trees in various shades, all sporting bright purple leaves.

Grasses in blues and flowers in all shades of the rainbow were starting to spring up. This gave the entire place a lovely floral aroma that spread through the air. Bushes had begun to grow with glowing blue and purple petals, and the vines that stretched throughout the entire forest had small white and light blue flowers that glowed throughout the forest. From the day he created the first batch of fertilizer the area around the large flower had undergone an enormous transformation.

“There is a lot of other beastmen out here!” Rex commented.

Darting between the trees using different paths that had been formed by the many paws of beastmen passing through the area during their free time. Many of them came here now that the tunnel was complete and every day new growth could be seen happening inside of what was once the swamp. The smells, the sights, and the colors were all things that were not possible on Earth. It was so beautiful and colorful even he was thinking of coming here on breaks.

“This is a great area for a run!” The bear said. “The bushes also give wonderful place to shit!”

Rex had to stop himself from laughing at the bear’s comments, he spent most of his time training with Welch, so Rex didn’t get to spend much time with him. Now that the canning plant was going to be built, Rex could spend the day with the bear in the new forest. Above him in the air were his guards who were flying in formation with their guns. They looked ready for anything, even though today was supposed to be a relaxing day for him.

“This is great, Bob is taking care of building the canning plant, and Shaya insists on building the machinery, I only need to install everything and teach the workers. It’s a similar position to what I was before.” Rex said.

“Right, you get shipwrecked and wash up on shore here! ”Borscht said sadly.

Outside of Kira, he told most of the people he was a castaway from some other lands. It made no sense at all with the monsters on the island, but he had nothing else that he could tell them. Saying he came from another world entirely is something only the people close to him would believe, and he liked the idea of being on a cruise before he ended up here. If he had divorced his old wife he felt like he definitely could have afforded to take a cruise at least once in his life.

“That’s right, it was a giant ship, many times bigger than the ones we are building now,” Rex said.

“Little girl thinks if you make parts you no longer compliment her.” Borscht explained. “She thinks you teaching her to replace you, this is what makes sense in succubus society now.”

Rex already knew that Shaya talked to Borscht, he had a way of working his way in with children. Suddenly Rex thought about how Kira and he had been organizing the succubi. While still sloppy it was starting to come together with a lot of work. As long as they had the proper motivation then it was certain that they would take things seriously.

As long as I keep offering them things that appeal to them, they will trip over their feet to appeal to me.

Over 200 prints had been acquired from various beastmen, it was almost every single one of them on the island, and some of the succubi had even formed teams trying to help each other get into the plating factory. After interrogating his guards he found out why they thought it was so important. Every single succubus had a gun that would look better if it was plated or coated, they even offered chemical staining. His guards all had shiny black guns that were chemically blackened to match the plastic stocks.

This was a blue-black color that was achieved using special dyes made with acids and solvents. He had to make many promises to his guards like exclusivity, this was their own unique color that no other succubus but them was allowed to use. They were adamant that this would be the future color of the guard! They were already thinking of how they could use this to expand their recruitment, they could become a proper branch of the succubi, just like the shore defense teams.

Meanwhile…

Succubus Homeland, Shore defense station #3

“Lyra, I cannot believe that the guard has their own unique color, and our weapons are stuck as just gray!” A succubus called as she loaded a large shell larger than her arm into a breach and closed the hatch.

“The target is set at 4200 feet(~1282M) away, and the wind is only 5 MPH(~8KPH), this will be another dead monster for team Succucutioner!” She announced.

Small engines were used to adjust the large cannon inside of its concrete enclosure. Small mana-powered engines were used to control the movement of large and heavy weapons. Currently, it was being aimed out into a spot in the ocean where no activity could be seen. Inside the team of 6 succubi were all taking turns looking at the aiming before they all agreed, and one of them used their tails to slap a lever forward that caused the large cannon to recoil on a specially made track.

BOOM!

All of the succubi still could not help but blush and smile when they saw the large trail of fire and a bullet that was larger than their arms traveling faster than they could see. A translucent blue creature that looked similar to blue but several times larger briefly poked out of the water for a moment, before it exploded into jelly across the top of the water. A pillar formed where the large cannon shell destroyed the massive jellyfish and sent it flying into the air.

A pair of succubi began to make their way out of the building to go and collect the magic stone, this was an inedible creature. These sometimes showed up in the waters around the island and the succubi never failed to send them to the grave if they ever thought of showing their heads for even a moment. Proof of this could be seen by the collection of skulls that were large enough for a person to walk into their mouths. The most striking one belonged to a shark and it would have been possible to drive a car into its mouth.

“Anything that dares trespass into the succubi’s territory will be destroyed!” She said this with pride.

“This is why we need our color! We must get someone into the plating facility! We have earned it” She said as she looked at the massive cannon in front of her.

All of the succubi began to nod that were left in the shore defense tower manning the large weapon.

Succubus Homeland, Magical Forest(Former Swamp)

“Damnit, they are just adding onto the food problem!” Rex muttered.

“Moving the bodies to dock is hard work!” The bear complained.

“I know, Simbad was complaining about it before we finished the ships,” Rex said.

Before long the pair reached a large pool of water that had vines running under the surface of the water. These vines had various small flower buds growing on them that were releasing a sweet scent into the air that was stronger than the smell in the forest. Rex slid off the side of the bear as it began to stand up so it could remove the large drum from its back. The bear set the drum down on the ground next to the water and used one of his black claws to pry the lid off the top of it.

Inside of it was the same brown mixture of clay that was heavily saturated with mana. He was just about to turn it over into the water when several vines began to snake up into the drum and move around in it. Before long several more had joined it and they began moving the fertilizer around themselves. Realizing he was done now he walked over and sat down in the grass, with the large white bear joining him.

“I guess now we wait,” Rex said.

“Why did you decide to do this today?” The bear asked.

“Why wouldn’t I? I realized that my body is somehow being restored, or should I say enhanced, maybe even healed?” Rex said as he tried to describe it.

Lifting his shirt he could see the scars the plant had inflicted were healing at an alarming rate. They would fade in a few more days at their current pace, and that wasn’t the only change he was experiencing. His height was also changing, and he noticed that his clothes were getting tighter. This made him start to wonder if this creature could modify DNA as he had thought or if it was capable of bringing out the best in what it decided to target.

In his case, it had delivered something to him via a kiss, but he was certain that it had used a large portion of the mana he gave it to do so. Afterward, it had gone into a state similar to when it was lacking nutrients. The reason he had also decided to bring the plant more fertilizer was to test this theory and see if the blonde girl would reappear. The entire forest that had grown was a place of wonders, suddenly he realized that around him and the bear little flowers were growing around them releasing more beautiful smells.

“What an interesting creature. I am not sure if this forest is all a part of it or if it is like a domain that it is creating. These trees are not poisonous like the other ones are, they would have been very useful before we developed such an advanced steel and concrete industry.” Rex muttered.

Boats, houses, everything was made of anything but wood on the island currently. That was because the only trees that didn’t possess poison inside the bark were all trees that produced food for the islanders. Thanks to this trend wood became a resource that simply wasn’t used on the island for anything but paper. A large portion of their paper was all recycled products as well since they weren’t very picky about whiteness.

“You look better! You finally start working out?” The bear asked him.

“No, every morning when I wake up I notice that I have changed slightly. My muscles are more toned and my scars are all healing, I don’t get pains like I used to.” Rex said. “I have heard of healing before, but this is beyond anything I have heard of before. Normal healing only gives you the ability to regenerate cells, but they can’t do what this is doing.”

“What do you mean?” The bear asked with curiosity.

“Do you know what growth corrections are?” He asked the bear.

“No, first time hearing.” He said.

“Let’s say that you have a small cub that falls out of a tree and lands on his shoulder in such a way that he injures it permanently, while it isn’t a big deal early, the injury causes more problems over time,” Rex explained. “A growth correction circumvents this and adjusts the body based on what it should have been if it was given ideal circumstances.”

“But that doesn’t explain you having muscle!” The bear protested.

“I think that this is just the beginning, I have wondered for a while how the beastmen and the Skaarm might have come about and now I think I might have gotten the answer,” Rex said as he looked at the large flower that slowly began blooming. “I think that the kiss she gave me is the same thing that started both the beastmen and the skaarm. I think at one point these things covered the mainland, and maybe even this island when it was a continent.”

“You think the island was bigger?” The bear asked.

“I think that this island was once a much larger landmass and a large portion of it sank under the ocean due to tectonic activity. I think this island might have been a part of the mainland.” Rex said confidently. “Back then a plant monster similar to these also covered the entire mainland, but I don’t think they were friendly towards each other.”

“Why do you say that?” He asked.

“We have a massive oil reserve on this island, it stretches into the ocean and some of it leaks up from down there occasionally. I wondered where it all came from, but I think that there might have been a war here at one time. A war over a resource that these flower creatures needed to survive, it was a type of fungus that provided mana to them when they suddenly lost the ability to acquire it.” He said.

“Wait, you think these plants became oil?!” The bear asked as they both looked at the giant flower in the water.

“I do, I began to think about it the moment I saw the giant flower bud. I then began to wonder if it was the same species as the originals but I just don’t think it is possible. I think its predecessors are all dead and this is some offshoot that formed on the island.” Rex said.

Looking over he could see the girl forming from the stamen of the flower, but he noticed a change that was much different than the last time. That was the size of her body, he noticed she was much bigger, only a little shorter than he was currently. This was a shock since he had finally reached a height of 73 inches (~185CM) in just a few days. It was almost 2 inches(~5CM) a night of growth, something that would have caused major health problems for him on earth.

She stood at 69 inches(~175 centimeters and looked like a female version of Rex with some minor changes, one being her clothing that looked like it was woven from the petals of a plant, she also had several flowers in her hair that Rex was certain were connected to her head. He had a dainty appearance that made her seem like a fairy, and she looked so happy to see him again, as she began slowly walking towards him.

Rex almost laughed when he saw this walking again, from the expression on the woman’s face he could tell that this was likely one of the first times she had done so. This did bring up a question for him of why she decided to take his shape, he could only assume it had to do with him providing the plant fertilizer. That and the fact that the plant had already tasted his blood which allowed it to make a clone of him. He hoped that he would be able to ask it now that it had taken a human form.

“Her smell is same as surroundings, I didn’t notice her!” The bear said in shock.

“You shouldn’t be surprised, I expected that when I saw all of the flowers blooming everywhere. They bloom within a mile of the pool and I am guessing that is the range that this clone can move away from the flower.” Rex told the bear.

“Why are you so interested in it?” The bear asked.

“Kira and Welch have decided to fight the Falcon King, I was slipped this tidbit of information by mistake when I overheard some gossip. She knew I would worry about her but she decided to do it anyway with Greko and Lunas.” Rex said this part angrily. “She wants to have a smashing victory and use this to prove me wrong and to prove that the succubi are as powerful as they think.”

“You think they lose?” He asked.

“No, if they lose then they should never enter a battlefield again. They have heavy machine guns that they can use as anti-air guns if they drop down and focus on shooting. On the ground the succubus’ charm ability is powerful, but they need somewhere to take the enemies they have following them.” Rex paused, as he said this and sighed out sadly. “I did this to see if I could figure out a way to apply this healing to succubi, I don’t know what I would do if something happened to Kira.”

“She wants to be leader, she needs to learn on battlefield.” The bear said.

“I know, Generals aren’t born, they are made on the battlefield,” Rex said. “It is an occupation that requires you to spend the lives of many people, this is even more true for us since we don’t have a rich military background we can draw off of,” Rex said. “If I had a choice, I would live in a world without weapons, one where I could just focus on making this island the best place possible, but I can’t.”

Rex sighed as he thought of the situation that he and the succubi were in as they watched the blonde woman walking over. Now that she was his size he felt much less excited about this entire aspect. Originally he thought of playing with the young little girl, but now he couldn’t do that. Just her chest was already something that could compete with Kiras!

“You have already make great place, but the better it gets, the harder it will need to be defended.” The bear said seriously.

“I know, I just wish that I could have had some time to work with the succubi first. Kira is not an idiot, she will not trade lives to satisfy her pride.” Rex said with a sigh. “But I worry that her influence was a negative one that will haunt her for a long time to come.”

“How so?” Borscht asked.

“Kira saw the succubi rise from next to my side, and this made her feel like we were invincible, since then she has been in a position where we have been fighting but most of it is from the shadows without a real comparison,” Rex said. “Yes, we burned part of the elves' great forest, quite an achievement, but didn’t do it openly. The succubi’s biggest advantage is flight, if their enemies needed it they could also come up with personal measures to their charms. That is just how war works, it causes everyone to either get with the times or get conquered in battle.”

The two world wars showed humans that war was an ever-changing monster, and it was almost impossible to separate a nation from it completely. History may judge Rex as an unfeeling monster who produced many terrible weapons, but he would accept that if it meant he could keep everyone on the island safe. It was something that had sprung up in him without him knowing, without him even realizing. At some point and time, he had started considering the island his new home.

Meanwhile…

Beastmen Plains, Main Camp of the elves

A log cabin stood with neat lines and clear glass windows, it was quite out of place among the camp made by many soldiers who had hastily pitched tents. On the smooth logs, images of fierce beasts had been carved into the wood. The roof was steep, and constructed of boards that were covered in moss to allow rain to run off the top. This was not a house though, it was constructed as a sauna.

The wooden door opened and a tall male elf walked out wearing only a towel. He had a stern look on his face, and his one good eye inspected the cam around him causing the chain that bound his hair and beard to rattle. Steam rose from his body, but soon several guards approached him in a hurry. They carried an elf on a stretcher between them, he was carrying various items and was covered in filth.

“General Ivangor!” One of his captains called. “Grave news!”

“Oh, I didn’t have time to make chairs yet…” Ivangor said as he walked over to one of the leftover logs from making his Sauna.

He had processed the entire thing from trees inside of the camp with his bare hands, he did it while he was waiting for his men to finish constructing camp. No one would shirk their duty around Ivangor as he usually didn’t even question what happened. Even now the group who came to report waited as they saw their general aim several rapid punches at the large log that had its bark removed. It looked like no change happened to it until Ivangor reached towards the base and pulled on the log.

They watched as the wood crumbled into sawdust, and around simple stool was pulled out of the wood in one single piece. This caused the rest of the unused log to crumble into wood chips. Ivangor then set this stool down and sat down on top of it and crossed his legs wearing his towel in front of the cabin. To the elves, the fact that he could perform feats like this so casually made him even more terrifying.

“General, we lost to the mousemen…” The elf on the stretcher tried to report before he began coughing violently.

Ivangor looked confused for a moment, he then looked at the elf on the stretcher with rare disbelief for a second.

“How?” He blurted out.

The soldier on the stretcher opened up his muddy and torn cloak and a silver canister was revealed. Ivangor saw it and reached forward and took it into his hands, he then sniffed inside of the canister and even shoved his tongue inside of it and licked around inside of it. This caused some of his men to alarm but he didn’t care, he needed to know exactly how his well-trained men had lost to what he considered as less than ants. What he found from his carefully trained tongue caused him a surprise.

“What a virulent poison, now I can understand how you lost to rodents.” He said with relief. “Good job.”

That was all he had to say to the elf lying stunned on the stretcher, he then motioned for the soldiers to carry the elf away. This caused the elf on the stretcher some alarm as he had more to say.

“Wait!” He said.

“I find that I am rarely pleased when I allow defeated soldiers to elaborate, it usually tends to lead into the fantastical,” Ivangor said this and sighed out sadly. “Go on, let’s hear it.”

“They had dwarven boomsticks!” The elf reported.

“That is it?” Ivangor asked flatly.

This caused the elf on the stretcher some shock and he didn’t know how to respond.

“Get him out of here,” Ivangor ordered and the men began marching the man away.

“What about the poison? Do we have a method to counter it?” One of the captains asked.

“We do, it is quite simple actually,” Ivangor reported. “It doesn’t even require any complicated abilities.”

This caused the soldiers around to sigh in relief, they all watched attentively as their commander stood up proudly. He then proceeded to grab his towel and whip it off of his body, revealing a grotesque creature that was just as properly toned as its owner. Several of the elves looked at this in wonder, they had never thought it possible to increase the muscle mass of a certain organ. They then watched as the buff elf tossed his towel on the ground between him and the men and placed his hands on his hips.

An incredible scene then took place as they all watched his member lift and aim itself using its own muscle power and control. This caused several of the elven captains' jaws to drop in amazement at the feat, but it got even weirder. Soon a steady stream made its way out and began to paint the white towel a light yellow color. They watched his member continue to move around under its own power as it gave the entire towel a light dousing.

“Now you just need to take that and squeeze out the extra urine and wrap it over your face.” He said. “I can tell from the taste that the best way to beat this poison is with urine. It will help keep it from getting into your body and should allow the men to fight for longer.”

The captains all stared at the rag in stunned horror, one of them even pointed at it before shakily pointing at his face.

“That’s right,” Ivangor replied flatly. “If you tried like I did then you could resist the poison naturally.”

“So the fog was poisonous…”One of the soldiers who entered from the back of the camp muttered, a deep fear growing in his heart.

The weapon that changed world war I and caused the most panic among the soldiers was poisonous gas. Trench warfare was endless, and it seemed to last forever with no end in sight for either side. The Germans were the first to introduce chlorine gas and were able to decimate an entire section of the enemy line, but their soldiers and commanders were horrified of passing through the area themselves. The biggest draw of poisonous gas was the intimidation factor, once you knew what it was even with the protective gear you would hesitate to pass through it.

Meanwhile…

Succubus Homeland, Magical Forest(Former Swamp)

The tree in front of Rex had originally had a light blue bark, but it had now darkened into a deep purple. The leaves that had been purple had become black and it was covered in small berries the size of peas. Rex and the blonde woman were the only ones next to this tree, and he was running his band on the patch of bark that he had exposed. Even he had a look of shock on his face due to what he was feeling with his hand.

The burning was intense, this meant that the poison had to be incredibly virulent, if he didn’t have the mold protecting him then he might have died from a light brush with it. He then reached up and grabbed a small berry from the tree by the stem, it was coated in a light oil that burned his skin. He then placed this berry in his mouth and chewed on it lightly, and felt an acidic juice spread through his mouth and burn his skin. A few moments later his entire body began to ache, it was such a quick reaction that it shocked him nearly senseless.

She can modify plants?! And so quickly!

A smile spread across his face as he watched the tree start changing back into what it once was but the berries remained, they changed and had a light green color like grapes. These berries were in direct contrast to the light purple leaves and he couldn’t help but reach up and pluck one down. He placed it into his mouth and bit onto it lightly and it tasted like really sweet cantaloupe, but then Rex experienced something incredible. The poisonous feeling that had spread through his body began to recede rapidly, it took less than a minute before he was back to normal.

“An antidote to the poison?” Rex said in shock.

He then looked up at the tree that was blocking out the sunlight with its foliage and the thousands of berries in the foliage. This solved an issue he was worried about for a long time, and that was having a cure for the poison that was made on the island. Just as he looked over at the blonde woman, he saw her slowly wilting away with a smile on her face, he could also see the large flower out in the water starting to close up. He realized that he must have used up all of her mana.

“I see, she can make changes to plants at near-instant speeds, but the faster it happens the more mana it costs her to do it,” Rex muttered as he watched her wilt away into ashes.

Blue took this time to begin scrubbing his body, this was not to remove any harmful micro-organisms though, little did Rex know a change was happening inside of his body that was similar to what was happening outside of it. Currently Blue was removing any of the excess poison from his body, it would be a while before Rex realized that his body was not producing toxins the same way it once did.

Before this, Rex had only seen the food issue as a problem, but after seeing the plant change before his eyes, he was starting to have a different opinion. His eyes spun as he saw something incredible building itself before his very eyes, he wondered if any human had ever had the key to solving world hunger in their hands? Next to this tree was another one that the plant had created by modifying an existing tree; long yellow fruits grew in large clusters. These were bananas that were large by earth standards, and they were far sweeter and smoother.

She had made these when he began to carefully describe what he wanted on the tree, all of this started when she had made several small flowers grow and he wanted to see what she could do. It was something incredible, as next to it he saw another fruit from Earth, these were large round balls the size of softballs. These oranges were tart and sweet, some of the best he had ever had, the juice exploded in his mouth. There was also another one he had asked her to make as a test of her limits.

A tree with light purple foliage stood proudly, it was tall with dense foliage, and growing from its bark by vines were orange root crops trying desperately to reach for the ground as they grew little hairs. This was a carrot tree she had created when he carefully described everything, even she seemed creeped out by this bizarre plant choice when she saw it. The taste and texture were perfect though, and if he had to choose between corn or carrots for a vegetable then he would choose carrots since he could make peanut butter.

A smile crossed his face as it was engulfed in slime, this was the final stage of cleaning for him.

“What a creepy tree! It is like it trying to reach for ground! I don’t want to stand under it!” Borscht said when he saw it.

This caused him to look at the hanging root crops and the smile on his face grew even wider. He already knew if this was Earth, then this plant would probably receive the first U.N. sanctioned protection, and it would be provided whatever it wanted by humanity. Just like a fairy she had vanished after only a few moments, but in that time she had thrown wide open the doors on what was possible. As Blue finished the scrubbing Rex reached up and grabbed a carrot, he took a bite out of it happily as he felt it crunch between his teeth.

“This tree is amazing, I don’t think I would trade it for anything!” Rex said happily. “The future of this island looks bright, now I can’t wait to get the canning factory off the ground!”

A land where none starve, it is right in front of me!

That is why he was certain a plant like this would have received global protection, just its ability to produce food was a treasure. The seeds from these trees would also fetch a high price, and he was curious to experiment with them. Suddenly a thought dawned on him when he looked at the pile of ashes next to him sadly.

“I need more mushrooms.” He said.
