It surprised him when Yernia’s hand tightened on his shoulder.

A carriage with the emblem of the Lecardo family waited nearby, and both of them boarded it.

“You shouldn’t have hugged me in the corner. Everyone is watching us!”

“Never mind. You don’t have to care about that.  I noticed that you were about to cry because it hurts you so much.”

“When did I cry? Look. I’m not crying if I don’t have any tears.”

Yernia rubbed at her moist eyes.

When did she cry?

She was busy groaning from the pain in her ankle that she didn’t realize she was shedding tears.

Yernia raised her chin confidently, and that destroyed the evidence.

She burst into tears every time Cassian moved her sprained ankle.

“Sorry. Does it hurt a lot?”

Cassian felt guilty that she was injured because of him, so he immediately apologized.

It was rare for Cassian to say sorry.

The only thing Yernia could do was to respond with a shy nod.

The Lecardo carriage was spacious aside from the sofa.

The seat was too narrow that it wasn’t enough for two adult men to fit.

Yernia was seated on the sofa while Cassian settled on the opposite.

She whimpered when she took off her shoes, stretched out her legs, and rested them on Cassian’s thigh with extreme familiarity.

Yernia’s ankle often felt like this when she sprained her ankle badly when she was young.

Cassian was the first to examine Yernia’s ankle whenever that happened, and she got so used to this habit that she deemed it natural.

Of course, this habit was way back in their academy days.

Yernia hated pain, so she grew more careful about spraining her ankle after a couple of times it happened.

She glanced at Cassian, who was seriously looking at her ankle, and mumbled, “I should have told him before getting in the carriage, but I couldn’t bear to say it because you hugged me from out of nowhere without saying a word.”

“Hey. I don’t have anything to say about the situation, but I want to eat something.”

“What do you want to eat?”

“What we saw earlier…Skewers. There was a chicken skewer in front of me before you pulled me by the waist. I’ll just buy that for a second.”

Her ankle hurt so bad, but she had to eat what she wanted.

If it weren’t for that kid, the chicken skewer would have already vanished in front of her eyes to remain in her stomach.

“Where are you going with your injured ankle?”

“I wouldn’t be able to eat it if it’s not now. You know. My family would never allow me to eat street food.”

She had to eat it when Seria was not here with her. It was the perfect opportunity.

Yernia shed regretful tears.

She even smacked her lips to show how eager she was to eat, and Cassian only shook his head and laughed uncontrollably.

He opened the carriage door and said something to the driver.

Yernia knew that she had him buy the chicken skewers she wanted.

Yernia chuckled in delight, and Cassian stared at her in disbelief.

“Are you happy that you hurt yourself?”

“I know I got hurt, but I still have to eat.”

“I’ll have to look at your ankle before you eat.”

A large hand gripped her ankle gently.

The hand holding her ankle bone moved at the top of her foot while the other gently rubbed her heel.

“Oh, it hurts so much.”

Tears fell at the corners of her eyes when the pain felt thick needles poking at her soles.

Yena bit her lips slightly.

She was growing sick and tired of this.

“Ugh, Cassian. Stop it. It hurts.”

He gripped the hem of her gown, and the loud crunch echoed inside the carriage.

Yernia’s eyes were bloodshot, and her lips were red from the constant biting.

It hurt so bad that she could barely breathe.

“You’re in trouble.”

Staring at Yernia’s ankle, Cassian spoke grimly as if he were a doctor who just announced the remaining days of his patient’s life.

“Why?”

Shoulders shrinking, Yernia still managed to open her eyes.

She became anxious when she saw Cassian watching her with a severe gaze.

“Why? Your ankle bone is folding than normal. It will start to swell now. You have to get better before the wedding.”

No!

Yernia can’t carry this terrible thing around, considering that she was a person who knew the pain of a sprained ankle very well.

This was a serious matter.

Yernia’s eyes were colored with despair.

“If I knew this would happen, I wouldn’t  have come out.”

If she had regretted the past, she would have still regretted it even if she wanted to do something.

It would have been much better to wear a dress in the mansion rather than go outside.

Yernia pulled her foot back from Cassian’s hand.

At that moment, her legs lost their strength from the agony.

Ugh! Yernia shut her lids tight and bit her lip.

All she could do was endure it.

Yernia’s weak slipped on Cassian’s thighs and pressed something on the right.

“Hey, you—-”

Cassian’s thighs flinched, and he quickly grabbed Yena’s foot.

Yernia was sick and tired of it all.

For a moment, the wind caught it and took too much of her strength.

Cassian realized that immediately and loosened his hand.

“Huh? Why?”

Yernia couldn’t open her eyes well since they were messed up and moist with tears.

Cassian saw that Yernia was helpless, but he lost all of his speech when he realized she didn’t know what had happened just seconds ago.

She had no idea.

“Nothing. What am I talking about with you again?”

He sighed inwardly.

Instead of asking Yena to remove her legs, Cassian carefully grabbed her feet and moved them.
