“Jennan! Jennan, wait a minute!”

Yernia followed Jenan down the stairs quickly, and it was hard to catch up with him considering how fast he walked.

She grabbed her dress with both hands and skipped two steps.

Yernia went down busily while breathing hard.

She stumbled, but she quickly regained her balance.

As she descended the stairs, Yernia almost caught up with Jennan, who had already gone quite far.

She grabbed his arm, but couldn’t say anything because she was running out of breath.

“Please don’t go.”

“You’re just my fan. Release me.”

Yernia shook her head as she inhaled and exhaled.

By that time, Jennan went silent.

Yernia held his arm and stood still to cool her feverish face down.

“I know you feel bad, Jenan.”

“…….”

“Cassian was rude. I apologize on behalf of him. I’m sorry.”

Jennan shook his head.

“I’m used to this treatment, so it’s alright. I’m a little embarrassed… but that’s none of your business.”

“Jennan.”

“I sing for money, and that’s my job,” Jenan spoke calmly.

Unshed tears blurred her vision.

This situation must have happened to him a lot.

How many times did Jennan have to deal with other people’s veiled ridicule outright that he had no choice but to ignore it outright or simply detach himself from it?

“I’m sorry that you had to hear that.”

Jennan stared at her before he lowered his head.

She felt so sorry for him.

She didn’t even know why Cassian did that out of the blue.

Cassian might have mistreated Jennan earlier, but he wasn’t the type to insult someone for no reason.

Still, Yernia hesitated to tell Jennan that.

“Cassian isn’t that horrible, Jennan. He’s a nice man, but he can be a little twisted sometimes. He can get a little carried away if you remain silent in his presence.”

“…….”

“He’s really kind-hearted. I don’t think he actually meant the awful things he told you. Did you hear what I said earlier? His pride must have been hurt because it was his first time not being the center of attention.”

Jennan pursed his lips.

“I don’t want you to worry about him too much.”

“…Do you love him, Yernia?”

“Love? No!”

“Then, why are you taking his side?”

Jenan raised his lowered head.

Yernia couldn’t speak when she saw his wounded expression.

The poor man looked like he was about to cry.

“Considering how you’re so protective of your husband, I could understand that you think he’s such a good person. The Marquis might have been used to living with that attitude, so I know I look insignificant compared to him.”

“That’s not what I’m saying—-”

“But I’m still upset, Yernia. I’m used to this kind of thing, but I don’t want to appear lacking in front of someone I want to look good. Unfortunately, that special person had taken someone else’s side. It makes me sad.”

Yernia didn’t know what to do.

She didn’t mean to side with Cassian.

She just wanted to clear up the misunderstanding between them.

‘Cassian’s behavior might have been unpleasant. But whatever his intentions were, I just wanted to let you know that he did not mean to mock you maliciously.’

She couldn’t tell Jenan that when Cassian just insulted him.

At that moment, Yernia realized it was a slip of the tongue.

“I know you’re trying to comfort me, but in my eyes, you are  taking his side.”

“I’m sorry, I’m just saying that Cassian isn’t that bad—-”

“You already told me he isn’t a bad person multiple times. Aren’t you curious to know if I also think the same?”

Yernia shut her mouth.

She knew what Cassian had felt, but she had no idea about Jennan.

What happened today was Cassian’s fault.

“I made a mistake. I’m sorry.”

“I feel bad and upset. I’m embarrassed.”

Jennan turned his head to the side and covered his face with his hands.

As she stared at him helplessly, Yernia realized she had very much hurt the singer she admired.

What should she do at times like this?

“…I need to go.”

“…….”

“I need to go, Yernia.”

Yernia decided to send Jennan off for now.

When she nodded, Jennan looked at Yernia with surprise as if he didn’t expect her to let him go.

Jennan stared at Yernia for a moment, and soon he turned his back and left her.

Yernia was so confused that she wandered around to clear her mind.

As she remembered Cassian’s countenance earlier, she almost thought he was ready to fight Jenna right then and there.

Cassian shouldn’t have known that she had met Jennan.

What had she done?

That arrogant fellow—

As soon as Yernia entered the restaurant, she heard the voice of an embarrassed employee.

“What about this? It’s better to keep this, right?”

In her way, Yernia had made up her mind.

She wanted to talk to Cassian, but he was nowhere to be found.

Where did he go?

“The flowers are going to wither, so let’s keep the bouquet for now. The Marquis must have left it behind.”

Yernia’s head turned towards the employees when she heard the word ‘Marquis’.

Were they referring to Cassian?

Two employees were holding a bouquet of roses in front of the umbrella stand near the entrance.

Their expressions didn’t look good as they sighed.
