Yernia was in a hurry as she squeezed the towel out.

“Are you tired?” Cassian asked right by the bedside.

Her response was a sigh.

She couldn’t do it.

After all, she had kissed him yesterday.

“Why did I do that?”

Why did she accept Cassian’s kiss, anyway?

If she simply brushed him off, Cassian would let her go.

Why didn’t she?

She even felt good!

“You’re done soaking the towel with water?”

“…….”

“Please put it on my forehead.”

Cassian’s words startled her as the water dripped from the twisted towel.

“Close your eyes.” Yernia said calmly, neatly folding the towel on his forehead.

Yernia couldn’t look at Cassian ever since that kiss happened which neither Cassian nor she understood.

“What’s wrong with my eyes? Are you going to kiss me?”

Yernia’s hand stretching over Cassian’s forehead stopped.

“Kiss—-kisses! What?”

“Why did you tell me to close my eyes?”

“Don’t close your eyes! Just–”

Yernia placed the towel over his eyes and not on his forehead.

*SLAP*

The wet towel hit him in the face.

A long silence ensued as they refused to talk to each other.

Cassian laid still without removing the towel, and Yernia sighed inwardly as she looked at him.

Honestly, she had no idea what to do.

Suddenly, the cuff button came to her mind.

“Oh, right. I have a present for you.”

Yena found the box she hid under the bed.

Fortunately, it stayed in its exact place as if it hadn’t been touched.

“I bought this for you.”

“For me?”

“Yes, it’s the same color as your eyes. Don’t you think it’s pretty?”

Cassian couldn’t believe it.

He stared at Yernia for a long time before accepting the cuff button.

“Yeah, it’s pretty. Thank you.”

Their hands touched and the electric shock passing through their fingertips made her withdrew.

Cassian’s eyes twinkled when he smiled and Yernia was at a loss.

She touched Cassian’s forehead for no reason.

“I’ve lost your fever.”

“Obviously. You felt like a fireball yesterday but it had eased down slightly today as if it was a lie.”

“Do you think it had moved to you?”

Yernia thought so too but she was a little surprised that Cassian had read her thoughts.

“I don’t have a fever, though.”

“You might get them later. Come here and lie next to me, Yernia.”

Was he making another move or was he simply pretending the kiss didn’t happen?

That would be strange considering yesterday’s incident.

They kissed yesterday, and Cassian initiated it first.

She did kiss him at the wedding, but this time it was nothing like before.

After that ridiculous misunderstanding, Cassian embarrassed her further by pulling the back of her head and devoured her lips.

He might kiss him again if she let her guard down.

“I’m comfortable sitting down.”

Should she explain what happened yesterday?

What should he say if she did?

In fact, it was Cassian who kissed her first so he was the one who need some explaining to do.

Unfortunately, he hadn’t mentioned anything at all.

“You know, Cassian…” Eventually, Yernia plucked up her courage. “I meant yesterday—-”

“Yes?”

“Yesterday. I mean… we, we, we, we, we, we, we… I did.”

It felt embarrassing to say that she kissed him.

“I know that.”

“Yes. I meant kissing. Well—-”

Cassian did not explain.

Perhaps, she should make an excuse that yesterday was a mistake due to his fever.

“Yernia, say something.”

Cassian belatedly moved the wet towel on his face back to his forehead, rolled his eyes and made eye contact with her.

“Good. Good.” She said, referring to the kiss.

She spat out her innermost thoughts as if she were caught in the act.

“What?” Cassian asked her back suspicion.

She couldn’t bring herself to say it twice.

“It was good? I mean… I think I’ve gone mad?”

She didn’t even know why she said that since it wasn’t her real intention in the first place.

“How about you?” She blurted out.

Yernia was doomed.

Cassian didn’t answer her question and just stared at her with a piercing gaze.

It felt rather burdensome.

“You liked it?”

“…….”

“Why do you keep looking at me, asking if I like the kiss we shared yesterday?”

Her reaction was quite strange even as she thought about it.

She really did like kissing her childhood friend.

To be fair, Cassian was acting strange too.

Yernia seriously pondered whether to leave her seat as it was before she was humiliated even further.

“How am I supposed to take that?”

“Just literally. Well, that’s enough.”

Yernia chose to kick it up a notch.

Unlike her, Cassian didn’t seem to care about the kiss yesterday, which made her feel annoyed.

She must have been the only one who cared about what happened yesterday.

Perhaps, Cassian did it without thinking it through.

He might have wanted to kiss someone due to his fever, and since Yernia was right there in front of him…

Her train of thoughts might seem incoherent, but Yernia decided to think so.

“Get some rest.”
