It was 5 years ago, the first day I woke up in this damned fantasy world.

"Who are you?"

"Call the doctor!!! Call the doctor!!"

"What the fuck???"

I woke up to an unfamiliar ceiling.

Seeing strangers circling me while I'm on a bed,  looking at me with worried eyes as if I was a part of their family.

Turns out; I was.

I took the body of a healthy 16 year old that had great facial features.

It obviously wasn't me.

Thankfully, all the memories of the previous owner rolled in within minutes of waking up.

That day, I became the first son of an Earl.

My name? Roan Ludwer.

I quickly told my family encircling my bed that I was a-okay.

Transmigration, Re-incarnation, Isekai, etc.

I've read a lot of those topics, so I had a quick grasp.

I was excited.

I could reap the benefits of being from a well-off family and living while just playing around.

It was also a fantasy world! Come on, tell me you wouldn't be excited.

While an Earl wasn't a great family position in terms of royal society, it was enough to support me being unemployed and play for the rest of my life.

So like that, I enjoyed 1 year of a completely uneventful life.

Until,

"It has been our duty for the to serve the Empire ever since we have indebted ourselves to the Royal family."

"..."

"There has been quite a storm in the northern frontier. "

"..."

But why would that be my problem?

"It's time for you to serve the Empire as the first son of the Ludwer family."

"What, me?"

"Yes, Son. If you're 17, you can serve the Empire officially. Or you can enroll in the Academy."

'Shit.'

"I've already gotten a hold of a governmental position for you."

'Fuck this Royal Family debt shit, on god.'

Serving the Empire would be less favorable than enrolling in the Academy.

Of course a basic teen wouldn't even be able to properly work as a Government Official.

Just go to school, learn and make connections.

But.... thinking of my time in college - along with all the things I would have to study about again, it made me hesitant.

Maybe working as a Government official again wouldn't be that bad. I already have experience.. so it'll be easy.

Right?

"I'll glady serve the Empire."

With that comment, I grinned. Thinking of the bright future ahead.

And so did my father, the Earl.

And like that, 4 years passed.

"Fuck, I should've just went to the Academy."

The position I received wasn't a position that made me foresee the bright future ahead. It was  a position that made you sacrifice your soul, blood, & tears.

The 4 years serving was enough to make a ambitious and optimistic 17 year old into a 21 year old that wants to quit his job.

"For real, my fucking employment life sucks ass."

Maybe the Academy accepts 21 year olds too?

(Short Chapter again, but bear with me.)
