Under the carpet of the cool night, a ball of tangerine fire materialized out of thin air. In the middle of a swamp, the flare reflected on the still water, and the radiance glistened on the pads of leaves.

No signs of disturbances, the flame rose skyward. Not even a wind could blow it off. Only the fire itself could disrupt the shape of the flame.

"Oh my God! I got isekai'd! Holy shit, I can't take it anymore! I'm super hyped! I thought I got sent to purgatory to repent my sins and then suffer!"

The fire spirit moved away from the swampland with no sense of concern. It went through dense thickets, dead vines, spider webs, anything that could be burned, and even swam down the shallow depths of water. It just crossed ahead like no one's business.

'Damn, I just ignored physics. LOL! So my flame couldn't burn anything? I emit no heat? Ah, this is a magical world after all. As expected, my mind got blown by how that happened. I'll get used to it anyway. Alright, let's continue and keep moving.'

Ten minutes had passed. It finally got away from the wetland. It got so sick of how sad it was during the journey.

"When hell has come, and heaven is dark… So darlin', darlin', kneel by me, OoOh!" A masculine voice came out singing a song with some beatboxing skills. Every beat, the flame beat—the fire spirit itself said it all sucked. All just to make up for the boredom and uneasiness while traveling.

'I gotta think of something idyllic after those lifeless people surprised me a bit.'

Well, the fire spirit had expected encountering goblins in the abundant forest as the starter for otherworld quests, yet it was brought down to earth.

Of all things, he explored only to walk over a miasma of dispersed rotten corpses. Puddles of blood had long hardened and cracked. Who knew what happened to them, perhaps a massacre?

"Sad. I'm disappointed. No bloodbath by me. So burning dead humans(?) to charcoal it is. I'm on my way back—oh? Look what I found here." He resumed his empty adventure, but he halted his advance when he spotted a glittering gem on the right.

A diamond coin on the dry soil, specks of dirt covering it, between the robust roots of a giant tree. Glowing fireflies flew around the tree, as well as around the neighboring ones. In the first place, why was a diamond coin here?

'Forget them.' Assumed the fire spirit had a face, his visage became that of a currency bill. "Ehe Hehe! Come to papa! I'm no longer broke." A pair of fiery hands came out and reached closer to the expensive coin. He couldn't wait to grab it now. He salivated for money. His desire to have a delightful headstart on the new life came to reality.

However, a sudden flashbang blinded the nebulous night.

The entire land shook. Wind gusts stripped the trees naked. Myriad of jungles snapped overhead. The severed biosphere blew heavenward.

Cataclysmic devastation indeed, like the work of a falling asteroid. A mushroom cloud still lingered in the dark firmament. One might have thought that everything fell into ruins, but the last men standing were the trees encircled by fireflies.

'What just happened? Did they just drop a nuclear bomb or something? It shocked the shit out of me like this forest was peaceful and all but suddenly, some warhead decided to fuck everything up.'

The fire spirit hid behind the giant tree all the time. "Aye! Thank you for shielding me, Mr. Giant Tree! You tanked it like a boss! I owe you all of my life! If that happened on the other side, I'd be dead for sure!"

"Now, let me lick you." No joke, he would slide his fiery tongue to the coarse trunk. His soul must be a lunatic and unhinged! Who in their right mind would do that?! Unless eating something edible like fresh blood for prize money.

'I licked a rocky-road chocolate-looking crust and tasted nothing but air.' Goodness, oh Lord, please expiate this poor soul. 'I think it's an overstatement to say that I tasted the air. But it's interesting to me that I can't eat things now. Sadge.'

Well, after all, during his journey, he went through decaying corpses. However, the unused energies of the dead physical bodies stayed on the site, and the passing immaterial entity, like this crazy fire spirit, consumed them.

He wasn't aware he "ate" while walking over them. He thought something smelled good from afar that his "nose" got seduced from it, and someone in the vicinity should be cooking quality meat full of savor. In reality, that "aroma" came from those deceased people.

'Alright, time to pick this up.'

A blazing hand was on its way to finally secure the luxurious diamond coin, but a blooded girl wearing a ragged white dress disrupted it from happening.

The momentum of the girl hauled a ripple of the wind and dragged a wall of rubbles that could rip a block of metal to smithereens. The giant tree protected the fire spirit from being wiped away, but immaterial entities were intangible.

The fire spirit had a glimpse of the girl's look; a sense of defeat enfolded in the crimson eyes looking down on the humus earth. The zephyr blew the long ashen hair and cooled the sanguine blood flowing down on the pallid skin.

The ashen-haired maiden noticed the vibrant candlelight glowed on her left. A small sense of courage thrived within her. She gripped her hands and hoped for a random spirit to support her.

The fire spirit talked to the very first person he met, "Bro, if you want to greet someone, please do it calmly. I'm tryna hide this coin and get outta here, yet you shocked me again. And like, just how many minutes should pass before I could pick this goddamn coin?"

Look who was talking; wasted time licking the trunk of a giant tree. Unnecessary deed, complete foolishness. Hey, at least, he learned something.

Immaterial entities gaining sentience were rare, much rarer than hitting a grand jackpot prize. This made the ashen-haired maiden open-mouth and even wanted more to persuade the conscious spirit to aid her. Also, she got stunned by the fire spirit calling her "bro", albeit that was an unintentional call.

'Why are you looking at me with your eyes so friendly? What's up with your finger pointing to your flat chest? Oh, this coin? Haha! Did you use your beauty to trick me to let my guard down, and then beat me to a pulp to win this? Nah, man, I ain't falling to that shit.'

"Wait, you're not here to retrieve this coin back, right?" The fire spirit showed the coin, and the ashen-haired girl shook her head.

"At first I thought you moonwalked your way here to probably show off your power and win this coin, but I was wrong. What happened to you? Those trails of mess are in front of you, and you're all soaked in blood."

Supporting his questions of bemusement, the ashen-haired maiden didn't go here to win the diamond coin from the fire spirit, but a formidable foe hit her from a great distance.

She stood strong and crossed her arms to shield herself from a fist armed with silver knuckles seeking her death. She withstood it and drew ravines of destruction barefooted.

The impact between her and the fist caused explosive havoc to almost everything nearby and created an enormous crater.

"By the way, you looked cute that way. Don't take a bath and remain bloody as it is."

The ashen-haired maiden took aback and lowered her eyebrows.

"Nah, I'm just joking. Alright, goodbye and see you again." The fire spirit bade his farewell, albeit he didn't know where to go. He wanted not to meddle with issues not involving him, but his hype of coming to another world overtook it.

"Wait!" The ashen-haired maiden reached out her hands and stopped the advance of the hovering fireball. A euphonious feminine voice turned up.

The fire spirit looked back. A quick change of heart. "Well, I have yet to set a goal today, so what's your deal?" He leaned on a steep boulder and his pseudo-face rested on his fiery palm.

"And it's not like because you look good, it's just that I have nothing to do yet," he excused himself here.

"Help me!" The ashen-haired maiden pleaded for assistance. She clasped her hands like praying to the sacred altar and knelt.

"Help you?"

"I'm new here and don't know anything about this world! But I heard that spirits having sentience are potent. So please!" She walked by knees closer towards the glowing fire, little by little. Harsh rocks pressed beneath. It must hurt for a normal being, but she survived a small-island buster attack.

"Help me to kill him! I don't want to die yet!" She quit approaching and tightened her hands.

"Kill him?" The fire spirit's interest started to build up, but the concern of a foe overpowering them hindered his hype.

"So that he will no longer chase me," the ashen-haired maiden answered the reason for the deed. "If someone wants to take my life, I'll kill them rather than letting them run loose to hurt somebody like me."

"Am I right?" She smiled and revealed a pair of fangs gleaming under the moonlight peak.

The fire spirit caught sight of the girl's sharp fangs. He got chilled a bit that he met them this early, then he regained his composure. "If he's powerful, then his name is known. Are you aware of the consequences of killing him?"

"I… I don't know… yet," the ashen-haired maiden bowed her head a bit and scratched her cheek. "I'm a vampire, and he's probably a human. We're different and this world happens to be disliking toward the creatures of the night. I'm sure."

She sat in a W-sitting position and placed her hands down. "I'm still new. I moved on, but I don't want to die early. Running away is useless. He will just catch me up. I have no choice, but to defend myself. So please, " she curled her long ashen hair and looked at the glowing fireball like a puppy pleading for care, "Lend me your hand."

A moment of awkward silence breezed between them.

"Stop it with your cutie-cutie face, man. Are you trying to seduce a bodiless spirit? Don't be like that, man. It's forbidden. Shoo! Shoo! Shoo! If that happens, I need holy water, bleach, and muriatic acid to cleanse my soul, then God above will punish us forever and ever. Do you want that?"

"Huh?! What are you talking about?! You are worried about your little fantasies but not the real enemy coming at us?! Also, don't call me a man or bro! I'm a girl, a female, a maiden!"

"Yeah yeah, but, why do you say 'us'? I'm not part of your problem. It should be only you—"

A change of pressure stopped their frivolous quarrel.

The menacing presence of a foe grew stronger and stronger to the point it could disintegrate anything to a subatomic level. Just in a short time, it became a pressure affecting the existence of both physical and nonphysical creations.

The two were not aware until the igniting silver blade aloft replaced the horizon of the nebulous night. The blade brought an illusion to cast a marvel size dwarfing the mountain range. It may be just a hallucination, but opponents must not be fooled.

"It seems like two demons are talking about their next lives in hell." The deepest voice of a man reverberated throughout the wilderness. "Good choice of not running away. I applaud you for understanding the futile attempt of resistance."

Armed in shining silver armor, vermillion cloth beneath, and a pair of long fabric at the back set ablaze, the man of the glorious blade declared the death of two demons he deemed as immortal enemies to humanity.

"May this sword purify you."

The hot blade slashed faster than the skip of a heartbeat.
