Chapter 10: 10- Haku

Haku still remembered Zabuza's reminder.

Kakashi the Ninja with the Sharingan was one of the best elite Ninjas in Konoha.

Konohagakure will not assign him to a weak team of guenin. For him to lead that team, there was certainly something special among them.

Haku had seen the last fight and even had to intervene at some point.

But while these children were resourceful, there was nothing too out of ordinary about them.

At least, it is what he had believed until now.

As for Zabuza's instructions, they were rather simple, he had to go all out, but he could not kill them too fast. He did not know why Zabuza had asked him to weaken them and to drag the fight. But while he could face Zabuza like an equal sometimes, things always changed once the older man ordered him to do something. He will not hesitate as he knew that he was fulfilling his purpose.

" The same eyes..." Haku muttered behind his mask with hideous patterns.

Seeing the boy with black hair finally revealing his dojutsu, Haku was even more convincing about his partner's analysis.

Haku had made some research about the Sharingan. It was a kekkei Genkai, like hers, but it manifested itself in the eyes of the user.

Zabuza had mentioned while explaining his strategy that the Sharingan could increase the user sight, giving the ability to decompose Jutsu, but it will also give them a better reaction time to the point where they could even predict their opponent's moves.

" If the possesses a dojutsu like the Sharingan, there is a great chance that the other boy also has something special. What about that girl" Thinking to this point Haku looked toward the pink-haired girl who was still protecting the target while biting on her lower lips.

The slight shaking of the girl's legs could not be hidden from Haku's sharp gaze.

While thinking, Haku did not remain idle.

In the blink of an eye, he sped toward the boy who had just recovered his balance.

" Sasuke!" The pink-haired girl cried out in panic.

Haku decided to remember the boy's name whether he survived or not. He knew that the Sharingan was a hereditary gift, and it was not every day that he faced someone like himself.

The girl's worry was useless as Sasuke moved with a speed that rivaled Haku, using his Kunai to block the tree's long needles that the other held in his fist.

Haku attacked with his second hand, slashing at the boy's neck with a Kunai using his other hand.

But not only Sasuke evaded it by moving his head slightly backward, but he also caught his opponent's arm and rotated around himself before throwing him away.

It was done so quickly and gracefully, that it almost seemed effortless. But after this effort, Sasuke took a deep breath while doing his best to ignore the cold sweats that had appeared on his neck.

Haku was surprised, but nothing was shown through his mask.

Haku sped toward Sasuke once again. They clashed two more times, they moved so fast that in Tazuna's eyes it seemed like they were teleporting.

With the last clash, they disengaged from each other.

They had only fought for a short time, but the situation was evident. Haku was the fastest when it came to moving, but thanks to his Chakra mastery which had improved recently, SASUKE could move his chakra toward the sole of his foot achieving an incredible burst of speed. Thanks to his sharing he could also analyze the trajectory beforehand and react accordingly gaining the upper hand. The scariest thing was that he was getting more proficient as time went on. Sasuke taijutsu was also excellent.

Haku knew that the situation was not good for him. He was a Ninja that relied mostly on his speed and facing a Sharingan user, it almost seemed like he was restrained.

Still, Haku was experienced enough, to deduct a battle plan.

He attacked again, and they were Kunai against kunai.

But it was not the end as Haku used his free hand to make a series of hand seals.

"One-handed Jutsu: Thousand needles of death"

Thanks to the mist, and also to the fact that they were in a land full of water, This just could be used more easily.

A needle made of ice suddenly matérialised in midair before shooting toward Sasuke.

In response the Uchiha jumped high in the air, reaching a great height in the blink of an eye. It was not all. As he spun around himself, he evaded some needles while using his Kunai to fend off the other.

" Sasuke!" The pinked haired girl had not moved the entire time, she held a kunai with one hand while the other remained near her chest.

Haku almost started to doubt his earlier conclusion. 

'Perhaps, there is just one strong person in the team and it is Sasuke'

These thoughts were even more distracting than Sasuke's smug look, and his gaze looked like a provocation.

" It is the best that you can do?" Sasuke asked with a scowl.

Haku, remarked one thing, while Sasuke was provocating him, it seemed to have the intention to attract him farther from their target.

Still, Haku decided to play the game, after all, everything seemed to be going according to Zabuza's plan B.

" I will show you what true speed is...

Ice Release: crystals ice mirrors" 

' i will just have to move so fast that you will see without being able to react in time.

Haku thought as mirrors made of glaze started to materialize around them, trapping Sasuke in the middle of a cage slowly but surely.

Haku slowly moved toward a mirror surface and inserted his hands, before slowly diving in.

Soon his reflections appeared in every mirror inside the dome made of ice mirrors ad his voice seemed to be heard from everywhere at the same time.

Haku had not forgotten he consign, he needed to drag the fight for as long as possible..and if possible, he had to weaken his opponents first.  Just for that reason, his needles were specially coated with at least two different kinds of poisons.
