Subjugation and Rakain (11)

“……there are no survivors?”

Kergel opened his mouth in a heavy, subdued voice. Then, the Knight Commander, Gilov, approached him and answered.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“It’s awful.”

He trembled in rage and anger at the report’s content alone. However, the damage of the village, which he had confirmed with his own eyes, made it possible to see just how helpless the situation really was.

“We will leave it to the neighboring Lords to collect the bodies and we will straight away track down the monsters instead.”

“Yes!”

Gilov also answered in a loud voice, fully agreeing with his decision.

Kergel turned his head in the direction where he suspected the monsters had moved. His golden eyes were all filled with wrath.

It had been an immense rage as if it was going to explode.

It was never possible with such ordinary powers to tear apart a person’s body to pieces until it became that very hard to make out its original shape.

In addition, there were no signs of any weapons or sharp tools that had been used. It was also confirmed that the body had not been damaged by a powerful explosion as well.

It was torn purely by physical force.

As if a child was jokingly ripping off the wings of a mere dragonfly.

‘Did the Suin tribe really appear here?’

Kergel’s eyes narrowed again.

After soothing his simmering anger, he looked around once more. And he carefully took everything in his eyes so that he wouldn’t miss a single thing.

Just then, his brow flinched and began to narrow.

“Your Majesty, I am ready to pursue……”

“Shh, wait a minute.”

Kergel raised his hand after Gilov had returned in order to stop him from talking. Then, Gilov quickly closed his mouth and stepped back as he began to quiet down the surroundings.

In an instant, everywhere fell into silence. It was so still that he couldn’t believe there had been so many knights and soldiers around.

Kergel opened up his power a little amidst the silence. It was such a weak force that it did not affect the seal and the others as well.

It was invisible, but as the density of the air thickened, a rather strong pressure began to get applied.

“Ugh…”

A groan broke out from some of the silent ones. It was the reaction of some of the new knights and soldiers who had been unfamiliar with such power. But they soon kept their mouths shut and muffled the sound.

It was because they knew well that they shouldn’t get in Kergel’s way.

Kergel was completely unaware of the situation around him as he focused only on opening up his power.

It was to confirm the power of the ancient Wolves as well as the power that would resonate with the Suin tribe.

“……something’s wrong.”

After a while, Kergel gathered his strength back and tilted his head. His eyes became quite complicated. Nevertheless, his gaze soon began to cool down.

“……this is not the power of the Suin tribe.”

The corners of his mouth twisted. Kergel took a deep breath and exhaled before he turned around. Gilov approached him once again.

“Your Majesty.”

“Someone did this on purpose.”

“Don’t tell me that someone intentionally committed such a terrible thing? What kind of bastard would do something like this!”

Gilov had his face contorted and swore violently. Kergel continued in a low voice with complete cynicism.

“I’ll have to find out about it separately.”

Who actually dared do this on his land.

“I’ll go. I’m going to have to keep myself busy.”

Kergel eventually hurried his steps.

“Ha ha ha!”

Lenoff tapped on the armrest and burst into laughter for the first time in a while. A smile spread around the mouth of his maternal grandfather, Duke Deberton, who was sitting right across from him with a refreshing smile.

“The Emperor must have been furious by now. The people of their country were attacked by some unknown beasts before getting killed here and there. So, he would have gone out to catch the animals himself. I wonder if I’m going to end up hunting a big one at this rate.”

Lenoff’s blue eyes were glistening with cruel joy. Despite the unfair death of many lives due to the conspiracy they had plotted, they seemed to feel no sense of guilt whatsoever.

In fact, it was strange for him to feel guilty at all.

It was not because they had been the life of the Serofites and not the Rakainians. As a matter of fact, he wouldn’t care even if the victims were his own people too.

They were no better than just ants on the ground, whether it was a few hundred or even thousands of lives.

Lenoff was so arrogant that he even thought it would be an honor for them to sacrifice their lives for him.

“Well, that’s possible. No matter how strong the Emperor of Seroif is, he won’t be able to beat a real monster after all. Moreover, it’s not just a single monster.”

The Duke of Deberton nodded his head and affirmed Lenoff’s words.

The hybrid monster that was left by the lunatic alchemist had been performing better than expected.

It was only a means used to secretly handle the ‘shame of the Royal Family’, but it caused more damage than they expected in Seroif.

“We need to produce more of them then. I think it’ll be useful in so many ways. My maternal grandfather will also continue to take care of the work production himself.”

“I will do my best, Your Grace.”

The Duke of Deberton bowed his head at Lenoff with courtesy. Then, Lenoff smiled and grabbed his maternal grandfather’s hands with both of his and continued.

“I only trust you, my maternal grandfather. If this is known to the outside world, a problem could bloom.”

“Don’t worry, Your Highness. We’re keeping it all strictly secured.”

All those who were put into the process of creating a hybrid monster had their tongues cut off and blinded. And the production process was divided into details, which made it entirely impossible to make any guesses with just each task alone.

That was why they had only repeated the simple task given without knowing what they were truly creating in the dark. And they would simply continue to do so.

“Hmm… Then, let’s just proceed like that. In the meantime, I’ll have to get ready to greet my sister.”

Lenoff’s cold smile soon spread across his mouth. And his eyes sank coldly as well.

He looked like he had a chill that didn’t quite fit with the words of making preparations to meet his ‘sister’.
