Chapter 1: Prologue

I opened my eyes for the third time since I entered the novel.

“Damn it.”

I first came into the novel a long time ago. Back then, I proclaimed I would re-write the story instead of the famous author, and in a blink of an eye, I transmigrated into the novel instead. Now I was stuck, having to possess a supporting character to do my ghostwriting. 

Just after I arrived, the world system pinged a new quest:

[Welcome to the ‘The World After the Apocalypse.’ To get back to the real world, you must construct the perfect ending to this novel—the ending readers want to see.]

Even if a person seldomly reads the latest popular web novels, they can still understand the concepts of regression, transmigration, and reincarnation, especially me, a bookworm and web novel writer.

So, of course, the quest would be a piece of cake, and I dedicated my first life as a supporting character to following the protagonist.

Being familiar with most of the original contents except for the ending, I thought I could easily solve the quest, just like the protagonists of other novels. I should have no problem intertwining with the main characters; if they followed the original plotline well, the readers would get their ending. 

The other supporting characters didn’t care if they died—they guided the main character of the original plot to the ending, where they defeated the monster at the open gate before closing it again. Since many readers liked the main character’s individuality, I thought this route would be what they wanted to see.

“…Where did it go wrong?” I muttered after thinking for a while. “Maybe…the main character changed as I came into the novel!”

So, in my second life, I monopolized the main character’s abilities, actions, and items. And I, who grew up using my talent “transfer”, defeated the monster and closed the gate again.

Just when I thought I could go home, a system message popped up:

“What the heck is the problem this time?!”

Do readers these days not like the main character to be monopolized?! But the system had an answer:

I bit my lip when I saw the system message but realized the direction I had to go—the latest trend was not to abandon anyone but to see the ending together. I had finally learned how to be strong through two lives.

In the third regression, the readers would get the ending they wanted.

I clenched my fist and shouted, “Let’s voice out our worries and do it together!”
