“D…Dunno. Just, it… it hurts. It really… really hurts.”
Ferre’s tears streamed down with big teardrops. He looked like he was in a great deal of pain.
Ferre snuggled close to Rosé’s shoulder, but he plopped down on her so heavily right there. Tears seeped into Rosé’s white nightgown.
Wh… What should she do?
Rosé was panicking, but she patted her twin brother on the back and hugged him.
Rosé’s small body was also trembling with so much anxiety. She was facing a situation that she had never experienced before.
But she was certain about one thing—she wouldn’t be able to solve this on her own.
“Fe… Ferre. We can’t stay like this. Wait right here, just a minute.”
The troubled Rosé murmured as she tried to peel herself away from Ferre.
“Huh? Noo, don’t go.”
Ferre looked up at Rosé with a tearful gaze.
Rosé also wanted to stay here with Ferre, but she knew that this might be something serious.
Still dazed and at a loss, Rosé stood up from the bed and hugged Ferre one more time.
“I’ll call the handmaids. I’ll be back right away!”
“Hurry… Please hurry and come back! It hurts so bad… It feels like my tummy is boiling…”
Ferre clutched his stomach in pain.
Immediately, Rosé ran to call the handmaids. As she was about to step out of the door, she glanced one more time behind her to see her twin brother, who was crouching into himself on the bed.
He had never been this sick before.
Thump.
Her heart plummeted.
She’s scared.
She’s so scared that she might lose Ferre.
Without realizing it, tears rolled down her eyes as well.
Even so, she couldn’t just stay here. Rosé made a promise, so she ran out and shouted at the top of her lungs. It was so loud that the hallway rang endlessly with her voice.
“SOMETHING’S WRONG! FERRE’S SICK!”
Rosé ran barefoot down the hallway and began to call the handmaids in the Star Palace.
* * *
The handmaids and the head maid were finally called, and when they saw how Ferre’s complexion had practically turned blue, they covered their mouths with their hands.
When Rosé went to tell them about how Ferre was very sick, the sight of her running to them in fear was beyond their imagination.
The handmaids were astonished. Their exclamations came up here and there.
Ferre’s condition was much worse than they were expecting.
He was rolling on the floor right now, clutching his blanket over his torso. It was as if he didn’t even notice how he had fallen from the bed because of how ill he was.
“Ferre’s hurting a lot! He has a tummy ache!”
Ferre’s so healthy that he has too much energy. He never got seriously sick like this before!
With tears in her eyes, Rosé stomped her foot many times, her long silver hair fluttering behind her.
The handmaids had also never seen him in such pain before, so they felt panicked as well.
“The… The court doctor, shouldn’t we call him quickly, Head Maid?”
One of Ferre’s handmaids chewed her lips nervously, but finally spoke up and asked the head maid.
“Uuung. Uuuugh. My tummy. My tummy hurts so much!”
At the same time, Ferre’s sobbing moans filled the room as his stomach continued to hurt.
“S…Save me. Please, it hurts!”
Ferre cried and groaned with so much torment in his voice, and he scratched the floor with his small hands. As they closed into tiny fists, his knuckles were completely white, trembling.
“Ferre!”
Rosé called her brother’s name with equally as much pain. She ran to him and wrapped her arms around him from his hunched back.
“DO SOMETHING!”
Rosé shouted in a mournful voice.
Some of the weak-hearted handmaids shed tears as well as soon as they saw Ferre and Rosé crying together and just how worried Rosé was about her brother.
Wet towels and an emergency first aid kit was brought just in case, but Ferre’s condition right now was at a level that the handmaids wouldn’t be able to handle by themselves.
They bit their fingernails and became even more tense.
What should they do? The head maid also worriedly watched Ferre turning on one side to another there on the floor.
It wasn’t so easy to make a hasty decision here.
She didn’t know if it was just a simple bruise, but if he was in that much pain, first aid from just the handmaids here wouldn’t be enough.
By all accounts, what Ferre needed right now was a doctor.
No, maybe the matter was too urgent right now. To the point that what’s needed more was divine power.
But there’s one problem.
The people who could wield divine power were naturally those from the temple, and since there were court doctors residing in the palace, there was not much need to keep someone who had divine power here.
Even if someone from the temple would be called now, immediate treatment wouldn’t be possible.
However, there was one person who could be an exception to this.
There was one person who was not only born with divine power but also a noble status, and so he resided in the palace instead of the temple.
The head maid nodded as though determined. She knew that the situation was grave, and so she gave a firm order.
“Inform His Majesty that I am requesting an audience. His Highness Ferre is very ill, so we need to take him there at once.”
“To His Majesty?”
“His Highness is in so much pain like this. Rather than diagnosing the illness to find out its name, it’s more urgent to treat His Highness with divine power. We’re leaving right away. Call two knights.”
The head maid strode towards the sick Ferre. While his body was damp with sweat and boiling with heat, she carried him in her arms.
