Once Qin Feng had finished giving instructions to Wang Qing, he then turned to Zhao Gang and said, “Let’s bring this body back to the precinct. We still need to sort out the details of the deceased, and with the crowd gathering here, I don’t think it’s advisable to conduct it here.”
“Agreed.”
Zhao Gang and Wu Kuan agreed and began to pack up their things. Although they were veteran police officers, Qin Feng seemed trustworthy enough, and thus, they did not question his judgment and naturally followed his instructions.
In fact, the trustworthiness they felt towards him was due to his sound logic, as well as his strong sense of responsibility.
‘What he said might sound reasonable, but who knows, he might be a paper tiger. I’d like to see what other evidence he has prepared aside from those two small screws!’
Zhou Wu sneered in his heart and thought disdainfully. Back when Qin Feng had solved the missing wife case, Zhou Wu was one of those who had chalked it up to Qin Feng being lucky. After all, the murderer had reported the case himself, and Qin Feng was the one who had greeted him. Had Zhou Wu been the one to take the case, he believed that he too, could have cracked the case. The foul mood that arose from the incident had deteriorated even further once he learned of Qin Feng being together with his long-sought goddess, Mu Qianqian. Jealousy was already clouding his thoughts at this point, and after having his accusations rebutted by the evidence earlier, the rage within Zhou Wu had reached a boiling point. At this point, he wanted nothing more than for Qin Feng to make a mistake, so that he could pounce at him.
…
Zhao Gang and Wu Kuan lifted up the chandelier and moved the deceased into a body bag. They were about to bring the corpse back to the police station so that they can conduct a further investigation.
As the case neared its end, Mu Hongfa and Ren Jie’s evaluation of Qin Feng was also nearing its end. Mu Hongfa had witnessed Qin Feng’s deduction process first-hand, and the calmness he had displayed at such a young age had blown his socks off. Qin Feng was neither arrogant nor impetuous, and he remained calm and collected throughout the entire process. As a result, the old couple’s impression for Qin Feng had taken a turn for the better.
“Our Qianqian’s eyesight is very sharp. To think that she managed to nab a man as good as this one. I guess we no longer have to fret over Qianqian’s partner anymore.”
Ren Jie said with a smile while holding Mu Hongfa’s hands. Mu Hongfa patted Ren Jie’s hand and nodded.
“Oh right, we have to tell Qianqian later that we have time to bring this child home for dinner. We encountered an accident this time and we didn’t manage to enjoy a good meal. Plus, we haven’t even gotten to have a chat with the child yet.”
Ren Jie looked at her Qianqian who was handling the scene and suggested.
Mu Hongfa shook his head and smiled, saying, “Accident? That’s not what the child said. Hmm, are you perhaps just curious to learn more about your future son-in-law?”
…
The officers had returned to the Ocean City Police Department.
After some digging, they learned that the deceased’s name was Chi Feng. He was 33 years old and a local of Ocean City. He worked for a newspaper office called Ocean City Daily.
Despite being labelled originally as an accident, after the point that was raised by Qin Feng, and after having his point verified by the forensic department, the case was now in limbo. No conclusion could be drawn yet, as aside from the screws, there were no other evidence to treat it as foul play.
Meanwhile, the police station was filled with dissent.
“Why is the case a murder case once he handled it?”
“We’re in a peaceful era now, how can there be so many murders and conspiracies!”
“Exactly. It was clearly an accident. Qin Feng insisted on calling it a murder. How can he be so sure?”
“I think Qin Feng did it on purpose to attract the attention of others. If not for that, Mu Qianqian wouldn’t have fallen for him!”
Zhou Wu and the others who had been chasing after Mu Qianqian and had failed were gossiping with one another.
Qin Feng did not take them to heart, nor did he bother to explain himself to them. They would not have cared anyway. To them, they had treated his explanation as an excuse he had randomly thought up. However, he had seen the scene with his own eyes, and he was certain that it was a murder case. The doubts of these people were insignificant to him.
However, while Qin Feng could ignore them, he could not help but feel disgusted towards their behavior. It was truly sickening to have colleagues like these. As such, he decided to spite them.
“Qianqian, let’s grab dinner together.”
Qin Feng walked to Mu Qianqian’s side and pretended to be affectionate as he hugged her shoulder and said loudly.
“Back off. It’s working hours. What are you doing? Why don’t you look at the occasion?”
Mu Qianqian slapped Qin Feng’s arm away and rolled her eyes at him. She then turned around and busied herself with her work.
However, to the green-eyed observers, their interaction looked no different from flirting. This was not the behavior that would be expected from ordinary colleagues.
The next instant, Zhou Wu and the others no longer had any intention of mocking Qin Feng. Each and every one of them was like a frosty eggplant as they returned to their seats with drooping heads.
When they thought of the intimate interaction between Qin Feng and the goddess, they felt as if the sky was about to collapse. It was as if their hearts were being twisted by a knife.
‘You shouldn’t have made a scene in the first place, heh.’
Qin Feng glanced at the staff who had silently dispersed and chuckled. He naturally withdrew from the spot and returned to his work.
Mu Qianqian saw the look in Qin Feng’s eyes and looked at Zhou Wu and the others. She did not expose Qin Feng’s little trick on purpose. Mu Qianqian was slightly interested in Qin Feng as well, and thus, she was not angered at being misunderstood by the others. Rather, she felt a sense of joy.
“I forgot to tell you. My mother just called me and said that she was very satisfied with you. She asked me to bring you home for a meal and to have a good chat with you.”
Mu Qianqian nudged Qin Feng’s arm and whispered.
“What?”
Qin Feng was really stunned, he said with a surprised expression, “What’s going on? I barely spoke to your parents yesterday, and they didn’t seem to like me too much. Why am I suddenly being invited to your house?”
“I wish I knew the answer too, but alas, I do not. This is all the information I received from my mother. Nevertheless, you are still to return home with me tonight.”
Mu Qianqian pretended to stretch and mentioned it casually to Qin Feng.
“Leave it to me!”
Qin Feng said proudly.
No matter what the reason was, it was still a good thing that Mu Qianqian’s parents had approved of him. Qin Feng was more than happy. Mu Qianqian was a goddess incarnate, after all. The moment he thought of this, his eyes then fell on Mu Qianqian’s long, slender legs and he gulped.
Mu Qianqian noticed Qin Feng’s gaze and slowly stood up. She whispered in Qin Feng’s ear, “Do you like what you see?”
Qin Feng nodded subconsciously and said, “I do.”
By the time he reacted, Mu Qianqian’s small fist had already smashed into his shoulder, accompanied by the statement, “What are you looking at! Hurry up and work!”
“Ahem, I was talking about the weather. Alright, time to work.”
Qin Feng coughed awkwardly and returned to his seat under Mu Qianqian’s fierce gaze..
