“No… Impossible, you couldn’t have known! You couldn’t have known! There was no one else there, you couldn’t have known the scene of the crime to such an extent!”
Liu Ming was now in full-blown panic. His face was full of shock as he shouted loudly in denial. He was afraid, terrified even. After all, no one else aside from his daughter, who had been drugged, was supposed to present on scene. It was impossible for the policeman to know what had transpired to such fine-grained detail. What he was afraid of was not only the exposure of his crime, but Qin Feng’s ability to describe the scene in such perfect detail.
“Your methods are indeed very confusing. After all, no one would have thought that a murderer would take the initiative to report the case themselves. You assumed that we would only treat you as a victim and not a suspect, right? But you have underestimated us and underestimated the justice system. As long as one has committed a crime, there will definitely be traces of their actions left behind.”
Qin Feng looked at Liu Ming, who seemed to have aged several years in an instant.
“That b*tch! She deserves to die! SHE DESERVES TO DIE! SHE DESERVES TO DIE!”
Liu Ming’s psychological defense was completely broken down. He was now gripped with madness, and he was now speaking incoherently.
“Bring him back to the precinct. Also, get some more officers on scene to secure the area and to collect evidence!”
Captain Liu Chao said to Wu Kuan.
“This is too much! She’s your wife, the mother of your child!”
“You’re insane!”
“Disgusting!”
Mu Qianqian and the others looked at Liu Ming with disgust and disdain as they cursed aloud.
The brutality of the case had made it difficult for them to calm down. Killing, dismembering, and flushing the corpse into the sewers. They were truly actions befitting a savage. Moreover, the murderer was even able to live in the crime scene with a peace of mind. The perverseness of it all was simply disgusting.
“Qin Feng, you did well this time. You’re truly a commendable police officer. Once you get, prepare a detailed report of this case for me.”
Liu Chao patted Qin Feng’s shoulder and said with a hint of relief.
“Yes, captain. I promise to complete the task!”
Qin Feng answered happily, and he even raised an eyebrow at Mu Qianqian in an attempt to show off.
Liu Chao, Mou Songyun, and the others escorted Liu Ming back to the police station while Mu Qianqian and Qin Feng drove behind them.
“Congratulations to the host for successfully solving the case. The reward you have received is a Small Capture.”
The robotic voice rang out within Qin Feng’s mind once more, and at the same time, a lightning-like beam of light entered Qin Feng’s brain. Qin Feng immediately counted his blessings upon obtaining the reward as it did not affect his driving. It had happened instantaneously, and as far as he could tell, Mu Qianqian did not notice anything off about him.
“Qin Feng, you were amazing back there. How did you do it?”
Mu Qianqian eyes lit up as she asked the question to Qin Feng.
“Does my amazingness meet up to your parents’ standards of choosing a son-in-law?”
Qin Feng smiled evilly as he asked back at Mu Qianqian.
Mu Qianqian was a little confused by the question. However, upon coming to her senses, she then rolled her eyes at Qin Feng and spat, “Don’t try to change the topic, how did you realize it was a murder case? We conducted the investigation together, how could I have been left out?”
“The devil’s in the details!”
Qin Feng could not explain how he managed to recreate the crime scene so perfectly, and thus, he chose to brush it off with a random excuse instead.
However, what he said was also right. All crimes would leave clues. It only depended on how many clues there were and how easy it was to discover them. There was no perfect crime in the world because a perfect crime itself would be an imperfection.
“Details? Qin Feng, what details did you notice? Can you tell me about them?”
Mu Qianqian looked at Qin Feng curiously, and she waited for Qin Feng’s answer with great anticipation.
Qin Feng took another look at Mu Qianqian, his heart bursting with joy. He cleared his throat and said in a serious tone, “Actually, there are four reasons why I suspect him.”
“First of all, when someone goes missing, the normal reaction would be to notify the police as soon as possible. The only exceptions to this is if the person who went missing does not have much of a social life, or if the person usually goes out on long excursions. It is only in these type of situations that the individuals would take a long time to report the missing person to the police. However, it’s clear that Liu Ming and Li Caihua do not fit either of these groups.”
“Secondly, the last place Li Caihua was seen in was the condominium’s elevator. Since then, she has never appeared on any surveillance footage again. Had she really left on her own, she wouldn’t have gone through that much trouble to avoid all those cameras. Plus, it’s unlikely that she would only take her cellphone with her when she left. It wouldn’t make any sense.”
“Thirdly, the amount of water we use in our daily lives is more or less constant. Even if it were a special occasion, using 1.7 tons of water within the span of three days is simply insane.”
“Lastly, that meat grinder is too clean compared to the other kitchen utensils. Although it looks like it was recently bought at first glance, upon closer inspection, it’s clear that it has been used before. From this, I suspected that it was the tool that was used to commit the crime, and that Liu Ming had cleaned it thoroughly to remove any indication of the crime.”
Mu Qianqian’s eyes lit up, and with a face full of admiration, she asked, “Qin Feng, How are you so amazing? To think you managed to spot this many details! Why didn’t I spot any of them? You’re truly an inspiration! … Though, I do pity Lil’ Hui. I wonder, what fate awaits her in the future?”
Had Mu Qianqian been a veteran of the force, she would definitely have raised a few questions on Qin Feng’s points. However, as Mu Qianqian was merely a rookie who had just graduated not long ago, she did not have much practical knowledge, and thus, she did not doubt Qin Feng’s reasoning at all.
“Alright, we have to head back quickly. We have a report to complete. And as for Lil’ Hui, I’m sure there are proper arrangements in place for her. Don’t worry.”
Qin Feng stepped on the accelerator. In truth, he only wanted to end this topic as soon as possible.
“Yes, yes, we have to head back quickly. Oh right, I have to call my parents to tell them that you’ll be returning with me today. This will finally put a stop to their blind date arrangements.”
Mu Qianqian nodded and took out her phone to call her mother.
Soon, the car stopped at the entrance of the police department.
Qin Feng stopped the car and they got out of the vehicle together. As they walked, Mu Qianqian drilled in the details of meeting her parents into Qin Feng’s mind.
“Qin Feng, I’m warning you. You have to behave well tonight and act like you’re really my boyfriend. If my parents find out that you’re fake, I swear I won’t forgive you!”
Mu Qianqian repeatedly reminded Qin Feng. Upon recalling her mother’s raised voice and the questions she asked about her supposed boyfriend, Mu Qianqian’s worries grew even bigger.
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely let ‘our’ parents think that I’m a good son-in-law. Hahaha.”
Qin Feng laughed very confidently and teased Mu Qianqian..
