Chapter 1: The Boy in the Lab

Somewhere hidden far away from the public, in an underground facility that run countless experiments on people of all ages and upbringings. There was a woman giving birth while strapped to a lab seat. She wore a hospital gown, but not because she was giving birth. She was a woman without a name, born in the Lab by her mother before her. She only knew the lab, and because of this she thought the lab was always right; they did raise her to think this and everyone else but the "Newcomers" thought this way as well.

 No matter how much they screamed or begged the lab said it was right and always would be, and it was so. It was to a point where the "subjects" as they were called worshipped the head scientist of the facility. Back to the woman giving birth she was struggling to push out the baby especially with no aid of a doctor as they couldn't care less about one of the many hundreds of patients in the facility, they gave her a room so the "subjects" don't feast of the newborn like they have before the mother included.

Seeing that the baby was almost out a doctor entered the room and after a while they cleaned up and took the child from it's mother. It was a baby boy and would be kept in a separate facility until the subject reaches 5 years old.

(Time-Skip)

It's been 5 years since the birth of that woman's child. He was born with deathly pale skin dispite his mother being of a darker skin tone. His finger nails a permanent black, as well as his eyes. They were the color of the very void itself, so lifeless and cold creeping some scientist out. This wasn't a good thing as they threw him right into testing unlike others who went at the age of 10 or more due to higher survival chance.

This marked the beginning of Subject# - 5739's hell, and he's decent to madness. After another 5 years within that time he was put under many cruel test. He had limbs chopped off just to be put in a tube that theoretically should grant him natural regeneration. This was the first experiment he was in as a 5 year old, and once the experiment proved successful it only got worse.  

They ripped him apart and found that except for his brain nothing could fully kill him and he'll always slowly regenerate. The longest it's taken him was 7 months after they reduced him to just a brain. They tested many experiments but most failed only causing him pain and agony. They melted him alive the one time he tried to fight back when being take to the testing area. 

They shoot him until he was just a head, and once gave him a new poison that melted his insides and damaged his brain causing him to lose some memory. This didn't change much as they where filled with nothing but pain regardless. The most recent test was a new device they wanted to test. They choose a small part of his body that wouldn't be the most detrimental to him, but would give him a weakness that they could exploit should he escape.

The device was a small energy knife. They talked about it being forged with the power of a Divine beings blood. The doctor performing this test seemingly had it out for the boy as he slowly and painfully cut a cross into his eye. And after he was done he forcefully opened the boys eye slowly carving it out. The boy crying in pain, tears and snot running down his face. No matter how long he endured such pain it never hurt any less, sometimes he wished it would all end but that day never came.

The boy bit down so hard he accidentally bit off his tongue. This only added to he pain, but his regeneration kicked in regrowing his tongue. This was his curse to forever live through endless pain until he died though he seriously doubted he would at this point. After everything they did to him he wouldn't die.

After a few more minutes they waited for the wound to regrow, but it never did. It seems whatever it's made of is able to disable regeneration on what it cuts in the affected area. This while making the scientist happy with the weapon, made them disappointed in his healing factor. They even put salt crystals in the wound while strapping him down. They left him like that for days with no outside contact. He was losing his mind from thirst, hunger, and pain. 

It was then he was overwhelmed, and utterly overcome with sorrow. His sorrow drowned out any and all other emotions. It was then there after he had a second thought. Why was this the norm in this place? Who put them in control? Why must he suffer? Why don't the others receive the same treatment as him? And so many other questions popped into his head.

"Hello Child!" a echoing voice said from the confines of his mind.

"Who are you?! W-Where are you?!" #-5739 asked looking around as much as he could.

"Calm yourself child, I speak to you through your head." The voice spoke again before continuing.

"I am an entity who's name shall not be spoken by mortal tongue, but you may call me SORROW." The voice now SORROW said to the boy.

"Are you here to hurt me as well?" #-5739 asked SORROW.

"No my child, I have sensed your sorrow, and I wish for you to be my vassal of sorts." SORROW said.

"You called me child, d-does that mean your my father?" #-5739 asked.

SORROW thought for a while before deciding that he could be that. It would not only give more loyalty from the boy, but also allow him to feel how it is to have a child of his own. Having never felt this as he must know the sorrow of having no children despite not needing them, he decided it wouldn't hurt to have one besides it doesn't affect him in a real way.

"Yes, you shall be my child, and do 'jobs' for me when I say so other than that your free to do as you please." SORROW said finality in his tone.

" Now you don't have a name exactly, oh I know how about Jacob?" SORROW asked getting a nod from the now named Jacob.

" I promise I won't disappoint you f-father !!" Jacob said happiness in his voice causing SORROW to cringe.
