“Magic, you’ve really improved a lot.”

“Right? I can now be called the Archmage.”

“I haven’t been growing well.”

A low-pitched laugh ran up my throat.

Far from hating it, I didn’t want to grab his head as it was gradually going downward. Tess stopped moving when he lightly touched the defenseless white neck.

“Ah.”

I was bitten

“Don’t leave anything weird.”

Instead of answering, I thought I could hear a suppressed moan, but a small head flashed.

“Who the hell is that guy?”

“Huh?”

“The scholar. Do you have to keep seeing each other?”

“Weathering?”

Tess’s face changed terribly as I inadvertently called his name. Grinding his teeth, he exhaled heavily.

“We’re really not in any relationship? We really only exchange studies.”

“You can ask me. I can teach you both magic and knowledge.”

It was a bit tempting. Tess, who could casually use teleportation, is guaranteed to have magical skills. The fact that I can learn without being noticed by anyone is even more attractive.

“I can tell you everything, Euseniel.”

“Ah, Tess. Wait.”

A red tongue digs into my ear. My body trembled and I tried to push him away, but it was impossible because I kept losing strength. The man’s arm squeezed me again, pressing my body against the hard chest.

I heard a clatter in my ears, but all I was left with was my lips trembling.

“N, no. I won’t ask you.”

If I try to learn from him, I feel like I’ll be caught and eaten.

“As expected, he’s annoying.”

“I won the bet, so don’t think about it.”

I grabbed his dark hair and pulled it away from me. Tess, who kept his eyes on me even as his head was bent half way back, was overly beautiful. I swallowed my saliva feeling the energy that flowed around his eyes.

“Don’t pay attention to him.”

Somehow embarrassed, I turned my head away.

“I am going.”

Perhaps he understood, Tess lowered his head again.

“Gael, did you lose one doll?”

On the way home, there were only two dolls in Gael’s arms. There were three that she definitely picked up.

“I met a fairy in the garden and gave one.”

“A fairy?”

“Yes. It was a fairy with hair similar to Gael’s. And blue eyes. So pretty!”

She left it in the garden? I’ll have to ask Tess to look for it.

The doll’s body was made of ivory, its hair was made of silk, and its eyes were set with jewels, so it was truly a gem in itself.

“It’s a secret from your friends that you received it from His Majesty, Gael. Understand?”

“I know, His Majesty is special, so I shouldn’t pretend to be friendly. Veryone said so. His Majesty is a special person.”

For a short time, I was worried about whether or not to laugh while watching Gael, who was stained with the hierarchical system.

“DId you go to the imperial palace?”

“Yes.”

It was not the first time I had been to the imperial palace, but Mother, who was in the lobby, asked a question. Her gaze went to the doll Gael was holding, then back to me.

“Father sent a message that he was coming home early. We can have dinner together after a long time.”

Gael, who loves Father very much, floundered.

True to Mother’s words, Father arrived much earlier than usual, and my family was able to enjoy the evening in privacy. Because of this, it was as peaceful as when living in Varen, but the conversation on the table was completely different.

“In the past few months, the monsters on the border have become quite docile, so thanks to that, I have less work to do.”

“That’s a relief. I heard that the number of monsters has suddenly increased over the past few years, and people are suffering quite a bit.”

“Yes. Sir Ethyl must have been to the borders.”

When Father referred to Ethyl as ‘Sir’, I felt strange. It’s like proof that we’ve all grown.

“Wasn’t it about 10 years ago when monsters started to appear?”

“It must have been 13 years and a few months ago, to be exact.”

Father’s expression darkened as he answered. That’s because it was when my family was kicked out of Alin.

“I hope it continues to be quiet. This way the whole family can continue to come together and eat like this.”

I deliberately changed the topic, and Father laughed out loud.

“Dad is happy that our Euel said such a thing!”

“Gael likes it too!”

As always, Father was delighted with my sister’s positive response, and the meal was completed safely.

“Gael is doing her academy homework, can we see Euel for a bit?”

I went to the study that my parents share. It’s a place I rarely go to now, but it’s still filled with Mother’s scent, which made me feel better.

“Euel, do you have to keep going to the imperial palace?”

I tilted my head hearing Mother’s serious question.

“Or, how about getting married? Dating is good if marriage feels premature.”

It was clear that this had been discussed beforehand, as Father did not intervene and was just taking a deep breath. I was curious about what my parents were thinking, so I asked them directly.

“For what reason?”

I was vaguely aware that Mother did not like Tess. But I never thought that kind of feeling would manifest in this way.

“Yes, isn’t it time for Euel too? It’s good to be immersed in your field of interest, but I think it’d be nice to turn your gaze elsewhere.”

“Mother, Father.”

I opened my mouth, but couldn’t get the words out easily.

– Why do you hate Tess? Because he changed so much?

I wanted to ask this question, but is it right to talk to the two like this?

“I can use the Imperial Palace library freely. There are materials that are only there, so I think I will have to keep going for a while.”

In the end, I chose to turn the subject around, and the talk ended with Mother, who had expressed her opinion indirectly, also replying, “I see.”

Even now, they still treat me like a child, and no one tells me the truth.

If so, I’ll have to find out for myself.
