Chapter 5: We Are A Pair Of Opposites

In the apartment, Chen Sui hugged a cup of warm honey water and sat crouched on the sofa, as stunned as a rat who had just been hit on the head with a stick.

Her head was still a little dizzy, as if sober, but not fully yet.

Jian Ming Xi just brought her here, he turned on the heater, then made another glass of honey water for her. When he came out of the kitchen, he still saw Chen Sui huddling in the same place without moving, and the glass of honey water in her hand was still full. Jian Ming Xi immediately laughed.

“Why are you looking at me like that? Wait until you sober up, we’ll slowly settle accounts. Haven’t seen each other these past few years, where did you learn to borrow wine to mess around?” Jian Ming Xi used a low voice to teach her a few lessons, then rubbed his nose, “I just made noodles, want to eat some?”

“I don’t want to eat,” Chen Sui shook her head and obediently said, “I want to settle accounts.”

Jian Ming Xi suppressed a smile and sat down in front of her, “Okay, how do you want to settle it?”

I don’t know.

Currently, Chen Sui’s thoughts were very chaotic, she remembered tonight’s kiss, then she silently stared at Jian Ming Xi for a long time before opening her mouth to say, “In grade 5, there was a time when the milk often brought to your house suddenly disappeared without a trace, it was actually because I stole and drank it.”

She whispered, “I was angry because you grew taller faster than me, so I thought as long as I drank your milk, I would also be as tall as you.”

“I know,” Jian Ming Xi stroked the corner of her drooping eyes and said in a low voice, “But after a month, there were two bottles of milk in my desk drawer every day, you thought I didn’t know that you put it there?”

There was a look of terror on Chen Sui’s face, she resolutely resigned and admitted everything.

“Once in middle school, someone drew pigs on your math notebook, making you unable to hand in your homework, it was also my fault.”

Jian Ming Xi recalled, “But after that, didn’t you write a copy for me to hand in?”

Chen Sui raised her head in surprise, “How do you know?”

“Even if you wrote with your left hand, I could still recognize your handwriting,” Jian Ming Xi laughed, “Next time when you do bad things, don’t regret it halfway through, it’s easy for me to find out.”

“There were some things that I don’t regret halfway through,” Chen Sui lowered her eyes as if wanting to admit her mistake, “I hid some love letters given to you in high school and never returned them to you.”

“I know.”

You know it again, why do you know everything!

He knew she had done so many bad things, then why didn’t he hate her?

Chen Sui felt her whole body tremble slightly, and then she let out a sudden burst of courage, “There is one more thing that you definitely don’t know.”

“What is it?” Jian Ming Xi’s eyes were especially deep.

“I hate you.”

“I hate you because you’re always so much better than me. I hate you because you can always get what you want. I hate you for being able to visit faraway cities so easily. I hate you for having such a busy life that can’t be stopped,” finally, Chen Sui raised her head to look at him, her eyes were red as tears rolled down her eyes. Next, she continued saying, “And I hate that I’m so greedy too.”

“I hate that I can never catch up to you, but I still like you so much.”

The whole room fell into silence.

Chen Sui could not stop crying, she was so embarrassed that she just wanted to lock herself inside her bedroom to continue crying, but as soon as she stood up, a hand unexpectedly grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.

With blurry tears, her face was held up by Jian Ming Xi. He carefully wiped away the tears on her face. There was a hint of tenderness deep inside his beautiful golden phoenix eyes.

“Why do you have to catch up to me?” He bit the corner of Chen Sui’s lip and said hoarsely, “I’ve always been here, waiting for you.”

Chen Sui was kissed to the point her mind went blank. In the haze, she heard Jian Ming Xi continue saying in his deep voice.

“I rejected Qiao Shuang because I already had someone else in my heart, so I was upset at you when you paired me with her.”

Jian Ming Xi pressed his forehead against hers, “In my heart, there are no models or celebrities, and there is no passerby either. There is only this one girl who always says the opposite of what she meant to say, making me wait for so many years, and that girl is you, Chen Sui.”

When being surrounded by his embrace, Chen Sui wrapped her arms around the man’s neck and buried her face in his neck, still sobbing, “I hate you.”

With his eyebrow stretched slightly, he replied, “I love you too.”

…

Life was always more dramatic than movies.

Just like how Chen Sui had been chasing a person for so many years, but when she turned back, she found that the other party had been waiting for her for a long time.

Not only waiting, but also recording her every step over the years.

Before getting married, Jian Ming Xi and Chen Sui moved house.

They first went to the other apartment to move their luggage. While sorting out the cabinet full of Jian Ming Xi’s photographic equipment, Chen Sui saw herself in his camera.

Many people knew that JMing rarely took photos of people, but they did not know that Jian Ming Xi had been into photography since middle school, and most of the main subjects he shot were Chen Sui.

Some photos were taken of her while taking a nap, taking the bus after school, and during a high jump competition at a sports festival. There were countless.

“Why… Why did you keep all these photos?” Chen Sui knew photographers would periodically delete photos in their cameras and upload the photos to their computers instead. She flipped through each photo and saw a photo of her making an ugly face, “…You even keep this one.”

Jian Ming Xi hugged her from behind, watching with her for a while, “Sometimes when I go out to take photos, or sometimes when I’m tired, I would look at these photos in my camera, which are your photos.”

Chen Sui suddenly remembered the photo that Jiang Qiong took that day when he looked up from the camera with a hint of joy inside his eyes.

Couldn’t it be… He was looking at her photos at that time?

After watching for a while, Chen Sui’s ears turned a little red, and she heard Jian Ming Xi say, “I still have this.”

Jian Ming Xi stood in front of a bookcase containing photo albums and pulled out a yellowed line paper from a pile of documents. Looking at the two lines of words written on it, his beautiful eyes and eyebrows were full of smiles. He then handed it to her.

Chen Sui was stunned.

This was the paragraph they had to write in elementary school, and her parents were called to the school because of it.

At that time, Jian Ming Xi’s handwriting was still childlike. Chen Sui read the first line and suddenly froze in place.

The paragraph topic was very eye-catching: [The person I like the most.]

[The person I like the most is my seatmate, Chen Sui. She’s very cute.]

“At that time, my parents were also called to the school because our teacher was afraid of us falling in love early,” Chen Sui was still stunned, and Jian Ming Xi pinched her face again, “I just didn’t expect my seatmate at that time hated me so much.”

After a long time, Chen Sui fidgeted with the paper, sniffed and said, “Of course, we were born opposites.”

A pair of opposites.
