Seated within a building, cross-legged, was Dwun, breathing steadily. He was digesting the gains from his recent battle.
Even though he had been injured a lot, the prickling sensation from his injuries translated into information for him. He was a battle addict but wasn't as hard-headed as he seemed to be.
He did have his strengths, just one though. And that was to gain insight from his fights to use his abilities better. But, that was all. In the end, he was selected as a System Host due to the simple-minded nature that allowed his System to exploit him the best.
After all, despite knowing about the truth from Ianon, he was unfazed, not caring about it. He had only been shocked at the start when he found out the truth. But after that, he realised that nothing changed.
He only wished to fight with strong people. And, since his System allowed him to do that, he was fine with it. If it wished to do something to him in the end, he was fine with that, as long as he had his share of fun until then.
People lived for all sorts of reasons. The fables had people selling their souls to the Devils for many reasons after all.
As for him, his intention was the same. But his objective was to just fight and experience the thrill and adrenaline rush of a life and death battle.
So, Dwun didn't even bother to think about anything that Ianon had spoken about, only hoping to fight him again, "Ianon was strong. And, he had been holding back all along. He should be stronger than Shika."
Of course, during one of the battles, he learned of her name.
As for the reason the Power Punch System was excited about the continuous battles, it noticed that Dwun's mind was experiencing growth. He was not only maturing but was also developing more holes in his mind, allowing him to become a better System Host.
This means, not only would he stop being an idiotic brute, but he would also become susceptible to it. It was evident by the fact that the amount of Mental Energy it was getting had increased recently.
This was despite the source of the Mental Energy remaining unchanged. The change in Dwun's mind filtered the Mental Energy better and turned it into a form that was even more suitable for its growth.
This was also the reason a System didn't just randomly choose a Host. They needed to ensure that the Host's mind worked in a way that filtered and modified the obtained Mental Energy into a form that suited the System's growth and development of its Core Skill the highest.
That was why most Systems stuck to a select few worlds, finding suitable Hosts there.
As for the Coincidental Luck System, Rhizen was the perfect Host to it, allowing it the maximum benefit. From the moment it gained ownership of this world and Hosted Rhizen, its power exploded as it derived new domains of authority.
That was the reason the other Systems in the Luck Genre joined hands to resist it. Otherwise, at this rate, the Coincidental Luck System would become so strong that none of them would be able to resist the fate of being devoured by it.
And now, Dwun was experiencing such growth. That was why the Power Punch System had become excited. As this was a looping world, as long as Dwun managed to evolve this time, it would be able to use the gathered data to induce the same changes in him during the subsequent loops.
Just as Dwun was about to immerse himself in the meditating session further, he noticed a streak of light in a nearby room. Curious about it, he got up and carried his Ant Sword, inching forth to the respective room to see the Spydragon within.
It was flickering from one end to another, looking through the things at the place. It suddenly noticed a half-eaten canned food nearby, peeking into it before nibbling some grains. It was erratic in nature, moving away from the cup after a bit.
A dozen seconds later, it would return to take a second nibble before moving elsewhere.
Its actions were erratic and didn't make much sense, but Dwun noticed that he was observing it in curiosity, 'What type of ability would I get from it?'
This was his curiosity whenever he saw a new mutated beast. As long as he obtained an orb, he could wait until reaching Stage 3 before swallowing it. If the ability was good, he'll continue using it. Otherwise, he'll kill the mutated beast and swallow a new orb.
Thanks to this, everyone that understood this power system was on the constant lookout for new orbs. If they found stronger, versatile abilities, they would swap them with weaker abilities in their arsenal.
And, a simple glance at the transparent body of the Spydragon, one that seemed to be made purely of energy, Dwun understood that it was a special existence, 'Is this my lucky encounter?'
Though, the moment he took a step forward, the Spydragon sensed him and hurriedly slipped out of the room, heading into the open.
"Oh no, you don't!" Dwun shouted before blasting open the wall as he locked onto its position using his senses, chasing after it.
The Spydragon was fast, unaffected even when some rubble fell over it, slipping through the gaps.
Upon seeing how tough its body was, Dwun became excited, 'I'll definitely obtain its orb.'
He chased after it relentlessly, grunting in annoyance whenever it slipped through the gaps in his fingers.
He didn't attack it directly in fear of destroying even the orb within, and hence only aimed to trap it. But, the Spydragon was nimble, expertly avoiding his attacks.
From one street to another, it moved along, constantly dodging his attacks. Suddenly, Dwun landed on it, the impact raising a dust cloud, thinking that he had stomped and trapped the Spydragon.
But, the moment he waved his hand to clear away the dust cloud, he observed the Spydragon was latched onto the ends of his pants. And immediately after, it landed on the ground and slithered away, arriving at a certain open field when it unleashed a blade of light from its mouth, poked a hole in the ground, and slithered into it.
"You won't escape!" Shouting in response, Dwun condensed energy in his hand before landing on the spot, slamming a hit into it. And, just before he had done so, a second Spydragon slithered into the same hole as Shika landed before him, having chased after it.
"You!" The two gazed at each other in shock before understanding their motive.. Sparks flew in the air, unwilling for the other party to gain that special mutated creature's power, intending to battle it out when the ground collapsed under them, causing them to fall into the trap.
