Upon seeing the question appear on the Spydragon that was as big as her head now, Xuer was confused. She then noticed the Spydragon's body change as its wings vanished, causing it to fall on the bed.
It slithered like a snake and stopped before her, turning still.
Xuer frowned as she looked at the row of words, "Who are you? What do you want with me?"
"A lost traveller." The words on the Spydragon changed.
"A lost traveller? What does that mean?" Xuer frowned, asking, "Why have you come to see me now? Is it related to my Martial Spirit?"
"No," The words on the Spydragon said, "I'm only interested in Ranze."
"What do you plan to do with him?" She asked, slightly tensing up. Even though she was clueless about cultivation, she was still aware of the power cultivators possessed.
There were almost ten Martial Origin Stage cultivators standing guard around her estate. It was not to mention the Sect Master's house was nearby. The fact that none had noticed the Spydragon was a testament to the other party's strength.
She became aware that there was nothing that could be done here. And, until she understood what it was, she didn't plan on taking any drastic measures either. At least, until now, the Spydragon didn't show any signs of harming her.
Slowly, she watched words form on its back.
"If I'm satisfied, I'll make him my disciple. Otherwise, just consider this conversation never happened."
As Xuer was surprised by the revelation, the words on the Spydragon's back changed, showing the first question it posed.
"What exactly is Ranze to you?"
"He's…my childhood best friend." Xuer said, her face reddening in response, "He's the only one that stood up for me and supported me ever since my parents lost their life. Ranze's parents have treated me as their own daughter. So, all of them are precious to me."
"How smart is Ranze?"
"He…" Xuer thought, saying, "He's pretty smart. Among our age, he is the smartest I've ever seen. And at times, he creates these interesting things that are so fun and also helpful."
"What type of things?"
"There was this thing he made long ago that stuck to a lot of things and made the soil move. He called it a magnet." Xuer said, becoming excited as she shared it.
"Magnet? That's amazing. Did he do any other things like that?" The words on the Spydragon said.
"There were many such things…" Xuer said and began to speak. The moment the topic was about Ranze, she became excited and was full of praises for him.
Seated in the VIP room in the auction house, Compass Carburettor was deep in thought, finally nodding in the end, "He's from Earth."
'Why is that a question?' Xuer frowned as she recalled her past, shaking her head in the end, "No, he's never done that. Why do you ask?"
"I've seen intelligent people exhibit a lot of eccentric behaviour. And I dislike that." The words formed on the Spydragon.
"Ranze never showed any eccentric behaviour." Xuer lightly raised her voice, saying, "He's always kind and caring. He never hurts anyone."
"Does he carry any memento of his family? Like a locket, ring, or a chain?"
"No, he doesn't have anything of the sort." Xuer shook her head.
"Does he have any special power? Like suddenly being able to find herbs that can cure sick people…"
"No, nothing of the sort." Xuer shook her head once again, "He isn't good at curing people. I'm the one good at that. Though, he always told me to do something called a CPR to him if he ever falls unconscious. I don't know what that is."
Upon recalling the expression Ranze made whenever he talked about CPR, Xuer's face reddened without her knowledge.
"Is he engaged to some noble lady?" The moment these words formed on the Spydragon's back, Xuer shot up, expressing anger instinctively before she noticed what she had done, controlling herself.
"I'm sorry, I lost control." Xuer said, explaining, "Yes, he got engaged to Lady Bing from the Crimson Feather Clan. It was due to a vow between the grandfathers of both families that had been friends long ago."
"Was the engagement cancelled?"
"No, it wasn't." Xuer shook her head, asking in confusion, "Why would the engagement be cancelled? This concerns the face of both our Clans."
"The news of Ranze's Martial Spirit hasn't reached your Clan, right?"
"It hasn't…" Xuer said, feeling a bit dispirited as she spoke.
"That's it. Thanks for your cooperation." The words formed on the Spydragon as its body began to shrink.
"Wait, who exactly are you? Why are you contacting me like this?" Xuer asked in a hurry.
"If fate permits, we'll meet after the auction." Once the words appeared, the Spydragon emitted a flash of light for a moment before vanishing.
Xuer closed her eyes in reflex, opening it immediately after to see that the Spydragon had indeed vanished. She then looked around, recalling that it was the size of an insect at the start before turning big. But, no matter how much she looked, she wasn't able to find it.
What she hadn't known was that the Spydragon had turned tiny and had landed atop her hairclip, preventing her from noticing it.
In the auction house, Compass Carburettor sighed, "I can't say with a hundred percent guarantee, but…"
'He's a transmigrator from Earth and doesn't have any System. Still, how did he end up transmigrating from Earth to here?' He thought, frowning, 'Is it related to the Transmigration System or some System of the sort? Or, is it due to some other power?'
"But still, I've seen this plot many times." He began to laugh immediately after, recalling the time when he read webnovels daily and just enjoyed the passing days. "Even though the power system is entirely different, the character setting reminds me of…"
