Gu Chenyi had just posted his message when he received a call from Old Mr. Gu.

“Grandpa?”

“Why couldn’t I click on that voting link?!” asked Old Mr. Gu over the phone, with a slight displease in his tone.

Old Mr. Gu had wanted to cast a vote too when he saw the link in Gu Chenyi’s friend's circle. Nevertheless, when he finally located Gu Xi’s picture and clicked on the “cast vote” button under it, it was unresponsive no matter how many times he had tried.

Old Mr. Gu thought it was his cellphone at first but it was the same even after he had switched to a different phone.

Gu Chenyi was baffled when he heard Old Mr. Gu’s question. “Grandpa, the voting is internal to our school. You are not a student at our school and don’t have an account, of course you would not be able to cast a vote.”

“So any student at your school will be able to vote?”

“That’s the theory.” Having said that, Gu Chenyi added, “Don’t worry, Gu Yanxiao and I are both working on getting Xixi votes.”

Gu Chenyi had thought that having a message at the top of the friend's circle for 10 minutes was already over the top. Gu Yanxiao went even further. He offered a super in-game outfit for each vote.

That made Gu Chenyi somewhat unhappy.

He didn’t think that he would lose on drumming up votes for Xixi.

Old Mr. Gu didn’t care about all those. He hrumphed after hearing what Gu Chenyi had told him and said, with resentment, “She’s still in third place after all of your effort.”

Having said that, Old Mr. Gu didn’t even wait for Gu Chenyi to explain that it was only normal that Gu Xi was a bit behind as she had just been added before he hung up on the phone.

After Old Mr. Gu had hung up on the phone, he immediately dialed Old Mr. Shen.

And, before Old Mr. Shen could even say anything, Old Mr. Gu said to him, “Your grandson studies at HSAU also, right?”

“Yeah. Why do you ask?” asked Old Mr. Shen.

“Good. Let me send a link to you in a second. You forward that to your grandson.”

……

Five minutes later.

Sheng Xiuyan, sitting in class, was baffled when he saw the voting link coming from his grandfather.

He couldn’t figure out why his grandfather would text him to vote for Gu Xi in their class.

Gu Xi, also sitting in the classroom, also had no idea that while all of her focus was on the Tianchuang Competition, the link to vote for her had travelled around most of City B.

Nor did she know that her registration information for Tianchuang Competition was now sitting on Gu Shao’s desk.

At the NTN Technology Center.

Gu Shao got just out of a progress meeting and was about to take off.

Wang Huazhou quickly ran up from behind him and stopped him.

“Boss Gu.”

“Something else?”

“It’s about the registration on Tianchuang Competition. I didn’t have a chance to bring it up during the meeting earlier,” said Wang Huazhou.

He was one of the co-sponsors and organizers on Tianchuang Competition.

Gu Shao nodded and said, “Okay. Come with me to my office then.”

After they had arrived in Gu Shao’s office, the first thing that Wang Huazhou did was to hand a document over to Gu Shao.

“Boss Gu, this is the current status on the competition. We have 3,000 applicants in total including some from overseas. A lot of them joined as teams. But many of the teams did not provide information and materials that met our requirement so, after our review, we have a total of 122 teams remaining……” said Wang Huazhou to Gu Shao.

This number had greatly exceeded their original expectation.

“As such, perhaps we should add one more round of selection. We can put together a team of experts in reviewing the preliminary design proposals submitted by each participating group and pick out the ones with more feasibility and design potential,” asked Wang Huazhou.

Gu Shao thought about it some and nodded. “Okay, we can do that.”

After a slight pause, he added, “Let’s try to condense the time down as much as possible. We can bring in additional experts if need be. Let’s try not to affect the second half of the competition.”

“Okay. I will arrange for that as soon as I get back,” said Wang Huazhou.

“And, there is something else…...” Wang Huazhou hesitated for a little and finally brought it up.

“What is it?” asked Gu Xi.

“About your team. Do you intend to move into the next round?” asked Wang Huazhou.

Per the speculations of a few higher-ups, Gu Shao most likely joined the competition for the sake of testing. And, if that was the case, they had no idea how far he wanted to go with it.

It wasn’t easy to read the boss’s mind.

Gu Shao paused a little when he heard Wang Huazhou’s words. “You said my team?”

“Yeah, this one.” Wang Huazhou pulled out the information on Gu Shao’s team and placed it in front of him.
