Gu Xian, next to them, was oblivious to his son’s current depression. He took the tea offered to him by Aunty Mei and took a sip. Remembering something, he said to Gu Shao, “I have caused Gu Yaobai a little bit of trouble on his end.”
Gu Yaobai’s company took on a couple projects in City N but had yet to sign the contracts. As far as Gu Xian knew, they were already in their preliminary phase. Gu Xian pulled some strings and took the two projects from him.
Two projects in their initial phases went belly up overnight, and without any signs ahead of time either. They figured that Gu Yaobai would be on his way to handle that as they spoke.
“What we don’t know is how long that will tie him up for,” said in a relaxing tone Gu Xian leaned back on the couch.
He hoped that Gu Yaobai wouldn’t be able to make it back.
Gu Shao, for once, didn’t respond to what Gu Xian had just said.
“When are we taking off?” asked Gu Xian.
“We can leave whenever.” Gu Shao gave Gu Xian a look and thought to himself, Had the two of you not come over unannounced, Gu Xi and him would already be on their way.
Gu Xian smiled with a little bit of embarrassment when he noticed the hint of resentment in Gu Shao’s eyes. “Let’s go then.”
After a slight pause, he added jokingly, “If we don’t go soon, the old man will be jumping up and down again.”

The four plus Aunty Mei took off together.
Walking over to the car, Gu Chenyi ran over and opened up the car door for Gu Xi.
“Xixi, sit on this side.”
He had yet to finish talking when he was smacked upside his head by his dad.
“Be respectful. You can to refer to Xixi as Big Sister.” Gu Xian reminded his son.
That very moment, the blow to Gu Chenyi’s psyche was more serious than the smack to his head.
“I am already used to referring to her as ‘Xixi’.” Gu Chenyi grumbled.
“Then fix it. You must refer to her properly,” said Gu Xian, looking very seriously. When, in fact, he was laughing hard inside to himself when he saw the dispirited look on his son.
Gu Xi was the only one baffled.
What did that mean?

She looked at Gu Chenyi, then at Gu Xian.
Gu Shao smiled and explained to Gu Xi, “You were born in 7/17 and this kid was born on 7/20. You are three days older than him and is his older sister according to your age.”
Gu Xi was a bit surprised when she heard Gu Shao, then everything clicked in her mind.
That one day when Gu Chenyi suddenly ran over and asked her her date of birth with a solemn look, was that to see which one of them was the older one?
So the dispirited look on him right now was because he thought he was the older brother but had turned into the younger brother?
Gu Xi: She really wants to laugh out loud. What is she to do?
“It was just three days,” Gu Chenyi grumbled again stubbornly.
“Are three days not older?” Gu Xian gave Gu Chenyi a look and asked weightlessly.
“That’s only because you didn’t try hard enough,” said Gu Chenyi in a low voice.
He had overheard a little bit about what happened that day from the phone conversations between his father and his grandfather. He knew that him and Gu Xi were conceived on the same day.
Sure enough, Gu Chenyi got smacked again after he had said that. He even got a glare in addition to that. “I seem to recall that physical health class is offered at your school. Go think it through and see who was the one who didn’t try hard enough.”
Gu Chenyi, “……”
Listening to the dialog between the father and son, Gu Xi finally couldn't stop herself but busted out laughing.
Meeting Gu Chenyi’s bitter look, Gu Xi took a step forward, lifted her hand, and patted Gu Chenyi gently on his head.
Give you a pat to make you feel better.
“C’mon, let’s get in and get going.”
Gu Chenyi was too tall and Gu Xi had to raise her hand high, high up in order to reach his head. In addition, his hair was a bit prickly.
Noticing the hint of resentment in Gu Xi’s smile, Gu Chenyi found it unbelievable and refused to accept that –– their relationship had just swapped from “older brother to younger sister” to “older sister and younger brother” and she was already resenting him?!
Gu Shao said not a word this entire time but his lips curved upward secretly – Yup, girls are so much cuter.
