Over on the other side, even though Gu XueEr was still in school but, with the scale of the rumor, she was still affected to a certain degree.
At the beginning, it was Gu XueEr’s good friends who spread the rumors. After they were warned by the school and out of fear, they apologized to Gu Xi publicly on the forum in order to save themselves. They also placed all the blame on Gu XueEr at the same time: [We only heard those from Gu XueEr and assumed that everything that she said was true. That was why we posted them onto the forum. It was Gu XueEr who lied.]*
That caused an uproar instantly.
Seeing that she had be betrayed by her good friends, Gu XueEr, too, posted on the forum to clarify herself.
She did have the intention of misleading her good friends to believe that Gu Xi was born out of the wedlock or switched at birth and let the rumor fester, but she said she had never said those words directly.
Unfortunately, under the amount of lopsided discussion, it didn’t matter what Gu XueEr was saying.
That and along with the very wide-spread rumor lately that “Gu Yaobai isn’t part of the Gu’s”, many started mocking Gu XueEr.
[She was the one from unknown source and she had the audacity to accuse someone else?]
[We thought she’s a girl; turned out she was a one-of-a-kind white lotus.]
[Gu XueEr is the president of the Art Club, right? So the whole photo wall incident was probably intentional then.]
[Disgusting.]
Someone concluded everything concisely: [While you carefully planned campus internet violence against someone else, had it occurred to you that you might become the victim one day?]

Gu Xi didn’t care about what happened to Gu XueEr.
Gu Xi, who wasn’t affected much by the whole incident, was focused on the Shu Li Youth Innovation Competition right now.
Once she had the initial idea, Gu Xi had added more details to it and created a plan.
Nevertheless, Gu Xi’s expertise in the field was still very limited. As such, even though she had read a lot of related material online in the last couple of days, she was still not confidents on a lot of the details.
She hesitated for a long time and finally hesitantly went looking for Gu Shao in his study.
Gu Shao asked before Gu Xi could talk, “What’s that in your hand?”
“This…… is my project for the Youth Innovation Competition.” She pushed the notebook in front of Gu Shao as she talked.

She didn’t say anything, but it was obvious us that she wanted Gu Shao to look at it.
Gu Shao looked up at Gu Xi with her nervous and anticipating look and find that comical. He then flipped open the notebook.
The very first page of the plan was Gu Xi’s overall summary and design ideas on “Spread of color, taste, and smell (Livestream)”
Gu Shao was a bit surprised after he finished looked at Gu Xi’s design ideas –– He didn’t think that Gu Xi would have put so much thought into it. And, as he got further back, he realized that Gu Xi’s overall ideas and logic were very comprehensive.
“Not a bad idea,” said Gu Shao neutrally after he was done reading. If one was to look carefully, one would be able to see the pride in his eyes right now.
Gu Xi let out a sigh of relief after she heard Gu Shao’s words. She couldn't help but broke into a bright and complacent smile.
“Am I smart?” asked Gu Xi, giggling.
“Not bad,” said Gu Shao, holding back his smile.
“Hehe, that means I got that from you!” Gu Xi lifted her head. Her roundabout way of brown nosing her father was very smooth.
Sure enough, Gu Shao finally couldn't help but chuckled after he heard that.
“Alright, go ahead, what is it that you want?” He knew his daughter well.
Seeing that her brown-nosing plan was called out, Gu Xi gave him an awkward smile and clearly tell him her wants. “This product. I would like to put together a simple prototype. Can I apply for a small budget?”
Gu Xi gestured “small” with her thumb and index finger.
“Oh, and a place to put it together.” It was not easy to borrow the laboratory at school and they were not able to provide a lot of items that she would be needing.
Gu Shao nodded without hesitation when he heard Gu Xi’s request. “Yep.”
After a slight pause, he added, “Come with me to AU over the weekend.”

Translator’s rambling:
Even IF they are true, how’s it okay to post to public forum? Gu XueEr can any anything true or untrue that she wants. That just makes her a bad person. The friends who post them to the public are the ones liable for slandering. Besides, posting something so personal is just not OK, true or not true!
