Ch34 - But he was satisfied.

After Ye Fei rejected Yan Xiao on Valentine’s Day, the two stopped contacting each other and never met again.

Ye Fei felt that Yan Xiao should have given up completely this time, and this feeling of relief only lasted for a moment. Then, he felt a sense of overwhelming discomfort. It was as if his throat was choked up and his chest laden with weight, making it almost impossible to breathe.

Ye Fei told himself that Yan Xiao should be looking forward, finding a person better and healthier than himself. Yet he could not control the bitterness within his heart. Fortunately, Ye Fei only had two years left. If he was lucky, he might not even see Yan Xiao with another.

He just needed to get through it for a while longer.

Ye Fei opened her mailbox and was about to find something to do to divert his attention when there was a knock on his office door. He hurriedly adjusted his expression.

“Come in.” Unexpectedly, it was not just Gu Ruijia. Sun Qiong, who had not appeared for a long time, was hot on his heels. Sun Qiong had been commandeered by his father a while back for a bidding project in the east of the city. He was so busy that he rarely appeared in the group chat.

“What kind of wind blew you here?” Ye Fei raised his foot and kicked a chair over.

Sun Qiong did not respond. Instead, he looked Ye Fei up and down and exclaimed, “You…is it because you’re thin or what? You’ve become imposing.”

Ye Fei had lost weight recently, the lines on his face becoming more severe. Sitting in the chair at the moment, he was visibly much shorter than Sun Qiong, but when he raised his eyes to talk to him, he did not appear weak. Rather, it was as though he held Sun Qiong within the palm of his hand.

“Hey? You got thin?” Gu Ruijia leaned over and took a closer look, “I didn’t see it, probably because I saw him every day, but Ye Fei has been eating less these days.”

“Your flattery is useless,” Ye Fei lowered her eyes, deftly avoiding the topic, “No money, no company.”

“F*ck,”, Sun Qiong was enraged with Ye Fei and immediately forgot to continue his interrogation. He walked over and sat down, “Who wants to make an appointment with you, do you have tits to begin with?!”

“How do you know I don’t?” Ye Fei threw a bottle of mineral water at him and lazily goaded, “Have you touched it?”

Sun Qiong: “…”

Sun Qiong raised his hands in surrender.

“Alright, I’m afraid of you now, let’s get down to business. I came here today to tell you good news.”

Ye Fei raised his chin at him and motioned him to continue. Gu Ruijia also dragged his chair over, his face eager for gossip.

“Hurry up, what’s going on, making it so mysterious, you’ve been holding me on tenterhooks for half a day.” Sun Qiong cleared his throat.

“Ye Yao sold two suites yesterday. One of them was a sea-view house in Haoyue Bay, and the other an apartment in Maple Leaf Plaza. The total amount is more than 30 million.” Sun Qiong’s family was in the real estate business, and thus he was relatively well-informed in this regard.

“What kind of good thing is this?” Gu Ruijia frowned and glared at Sun Qiong with dissatisfaction.

“Don’t worry, I haven’t reached the punchline,” Sun Qiong was worried about thrusting more daggers into Ye Fei and thus did not bother with Gu Ruijia. “Do you know why he started to sell his houses? He owes a lot of gambling debts!”

“Gambling debt?” Ye Fei propped his chin with his hand and let out a thoughtful hum. “Did you make a mistake?”

Although Ye Yao was stupid and poisonous, he was not depraved. He had never been involved in things such as gambling.

“I’ve got links to someone in Wang Zhao’s circle, and I’ve inquired about it,” Sun Qiong excitedly recounted to Ye Fei. “Ye Yao got involved with Wang Zhao because he wanted his investment, and at first, he had only stuck his toe in. Now…” He sniggered.

“How do I not wet my shoes when sticking my foot in? Didn’t that recent production of Dingyuan sink? Your white-eyed wolf must be in a bad mood, so he made a big bet. Who knew that this was his Achilles heel?”

Soon after the filming of <<Super Time Redemption>> began, Dingyuan had shot an internet drama as well. Rather than a modern drama, they chose to shoot a costume serial in order to chase the wave of the recently popular TV series <<The Legend of the Empress Dowager>>.

Because the publicity was in place, this costume web drama had a respectable number of views on its first day, appearing to be another member of a trend of explosive dramas.

However, this situation only lasted for two days. Without strong quality support, no amount of marketing could make up for a web drama with no class. From the third day onwards, the number of broadcasts fell off a cliff.

At first, Gu Ruijia kept an eye on the Internet ratings, for fear that <<Please Sober Up>> would be surpassed. Later, he did not even bother to watch it.

“Oh, that drama,” Gu Ruijia gloated, “Ye Yao being in a bad mood is reasonable, it’s not even making a splash.”

“How is it?” Sun Qiong looked at Ye Fei, “Did your mood improve after hearing that?”

“Thanks,” Ye Fei reached with his bottle and knocked Sun Qiong’s own, “I really didn’t expect him to go down like this.”

Ye Fei had long guessed that Dingyuan would not last long in the hands of Father Ye and Ye Yao, so after his rebirth, he did not take the initiative to do anything. Instead, he coldly watched as they struggled.

Killing the monster with one blow didn’t satisfy him. It was far better to cut flesh with a dull knife. Step by step from heaven to hell, struggling with no end in sight. The gap between above and below would be so big that anyone would be driven mad.

Who would have known that even without his intervention, Ye Yao would bend down willingly for an executioner.

“Be more positive,” Sun Qiong patted Ye Fei on the shoulder and comforted him before changing the subject strategically. “Should we invite Old Zhou out for a drink tonight?”

“I can do a meal, just no alcohol,” Ye Fei took out a pack of cigarettes, and gave Sun Qiong and Gu Ruijia one each, “I’m going to go to the Northwest.”

“Because of the budget?” Gu Ruijia stretched his hand out to Ye Fei for a lighter, “Is it necessary?”

“Use your own,” Ye Fei flicked his hand, avoiding Gu Ruijia, before putting the lighter in his pocket. “It has nothing to do with the budget, the conditions there are too difficult, I heard that a few actors have been sunburned recently. I should be heading down there to raise their morale.”

If he headed there to relax, maybe his heart would recover faster, and he could stop thinking about seeing Yan Xiao.

“Do you want to be so clingy? What’s wrong with using your lighter?” Gu Ruijia complained as he leaned over to Sun Qiong, lighting his cigarette with the other’s cigarette butt. “What you’re saying actually makes sense.”

Ye Fei lowered his eyes and let out a smoke ring.

“What time do you plan to leave?” Gu Ruijia asked again, “I’ll ask the administrative assistant to book a flight for you.”

“Doesn’t Brother Xiao have a private jet? What ticket?” Sun Qiong interjected.

“It’s inconvenient,” Gu Ruijia rolled his eyes at him. “Leave aside the need to apply for the flight route in advance. Our crew is in a valley, and there is no place to land the plane. ”

“The sooner the better,” Ye Fei said without thinking, rubbing the lighter in his pocket, “Let’s see if there is a flight tomorrow morning. If there is one, then tomorrow morning.”

Gu Ruijia gave him an OK gesture and agreed.

After dealing with the air ticket, Gu Ruijia left work early and took Sun Qiong to dinner with Ye Fei.

On the other side, Yan Xiao, who had just finished the video conference, returned to the office. Instead of immediately throwing himself into intensive work as usual, he took out his mobile phone and tapped into the gallery.

In the album named “Ye Fei”, there were originally twenty-seven photos, but now there was only one left. But this valuable photo was given to him by Ye Fei, so it naturally held a different meaning.

In the photo, Ye Fei was leaning against the sofa, smiling wildly and wanton. Next to him was a bright and wide floor-to-ceiling window, the sunlight streaming from outside the window softening the picture perfectly.

Yan Xiao touched Ye Fei’s face on the screen with his fingertips, but the longing in his heart did not ease much.

From that day till now, they had not seen each other for four days, three hours and thirty-eight minutes.

He really wanted to knock on Ye Fei’s door with any excuse just like before. But upon thinking that Ye Fei might not want to see him, he restrained himself.

Yan Xiao knew that he was a dull and boring person, who could neither flatter with honeyed words nor make Ye Fei happy, and it was normal to be rejected. Even if he was disappointed, he did not fall into despair.

As long as they could meet each other occasionally, it was similar to their first six months of little contact. At least Yan Xiao could see Ye Fei.

Yan Xiao exited the album and clicked into Ye Fei’s social media platform. Ye Fei rarely posted his status, the most recent one was a month ago, praising a fried pork chop shop located downstairs from Tianxi.

Yan Xiao repeatedly viewed his status over and over before he finally could bear it no longer. He ordered the driver to wait for him downstairs, got up and walked out of the office.

“Hey? Brother Xiao, where are you going?” As soon as he reached the elevator, Yan Xiao ran into Cheng Minghao who had come up to look for him.

Yan Xiao briefly replied with a “something” and stepped into the elevator without looking back.

Cheng Minghao looked at his back and sighed. He vaguely guessed that the date that day had not gone well, but since it was his suggestion, asking Yan Xiao might cause his anger to turn on Cheng Minghao.

Forget it, Cheng Minghao rubbed his face and stopped thinking about it. Let them solve their own affairs, why did a single dog need to care about matters of the heart.

When Yan Xiao arrived at Tianxi, it happened to be 5:30 in the evening. According to Ye Fei’s usual schedule, he would be off work in half an hour. Yan Xiao did not go up to ask for Ye Fei. Instead, he asked the driver to park the car downstairs and quietly waited for Ye Fei to come out.

However, ten minutes passed; half an hour passed; an hour passed; but Ye Fei never appeared.

Yan Xiao took out his mobile phone and opened Ye Fei’s WeChat. After watching it for a while, nothing was posted. He swiped to his circle of friends, and happened to swipe to the status that Gu Ruijia posted not long ago—

[Gu Ruijia: Brothers, let’s go~ [Picture][Picture]]

It was only then that he realized that Ye Fei got off work earlier today and went to dinner with friends.

The sky was already dark, and the bright street lights hit the roof of the car, reflecting a dazzling white. Yan Xiao did not go home directly, but asked the driver to drive to the fried pork chop restaurant that Ye Fei had posted about, and ordered a pork chop set meal.

It was the peak period of dinner time, and the restaurant was almost full. All kinds of voices were mixed together, making a din of noise. Yan Xiao sat alone in the hustle and bustle, silently finishing the pork chops and shredded cabbage on his plate.

He waited for more than an hour and did not see Ye Fei. In the end, he only ate a set of pork chops that Ye Fei had eaten before, but he felt very satisfied.

The author has something to say: In fact, it is not anguish, I think _(:з”∠)_ Ye Fei needs an opportunity to open his heart completely, and the next thing will be very sweet! So sweet!
