Chapter 1251: Saving Da Bai From Marriage

Da Bai’s eyes widened in shock as he stared at his mother.

Already?

She sure wasn’t fooling around!

An Lin also shuddered upon hearing this. He knew that the real challenge had arrived.

Bai Xian also chimed in with a smile, “Da Bai, your Brother Xiao Chou, didn’t he marry a beautiful fox? I reckon it’s about time you follow in his footsteps, eh?”

“These things can’t be rushed. I’m just a fifty-year-old puppy, woof!” Da Bai struggled with all his might.

“If you wait too long, you might miss out. Qing Hua has waited for you for so many years, and her heart has never wavered. Good dogs like her are hard to find these days. Where are you going to find another one like her if she gets taken by someone else?” Chun countered with watertight logic.

Da Bai turned to An Lin for help, only to find that An Lin was staring blankly into space.

Da Bai: “…”

Where was the help he was supposed to be getting?!

It wasn’t that An Lin didn’t want to help him, he really had been distracted by something.

Chun’s words reminded him of his relationship with Xiaolan.

Waiting too long was indeed not a good thing. Maybe he should hurry things up a little? Hehehe…

Just as he was being led astray by his train of thought, a warm hand suddenly settled over his own.

An Lin looked down to discover that it was a dog paw.

“What are you thinking about, Big Brother An? Do you have something to contribute?!” Da Bai asked with a desperate, forced grin.

An Lin: “…”

“Hmm… I look at it this way, Senior Bai Xian, Senior Chun. You were talking about Xiao Chou and Bai Yao’s marriage right? Well, they’re actually a perfect example of the saying ‘good things take time’…” An Lin spoke with a smile, “They waited over a century for one another, and their feelings never changed. Even though they hadn’t met each other even once during that time, their hearts never wavered. As such, true love can stand the test of time!”

“This…” Chun wasn’t expecting An Lin to take Da Bai’s side.

“Big Brother An is right! Woof!” Da Bai clapped his paws together excitedly.

In conversational topics such as marriage, parents would not listen to anything their children said.

Some things had to be said by outsiders in order to achieve the desired effect.

“There’s no need to be hasty. Any relationship requires time in order to test its integrity. A relationship that has not been tested by time and hardships is one that would be far too unreliable and most likely fragile.”

An Lin continued in a meaningful and heartfelt voice, “Take Qing Hua as an example. She likes Da Bai, but Da Bai is still on a journey of self-discovery. He still doesn’t know how he feels toward Qing Hua. If they’re forced together before Da Bai has a chance to identify his feelings, it would be unfair to both Da Bai and Qing Hua!”

Bai Xian and Chun fell into deep thought, wondering if they were indeed being too hasty.

An Lin immediately struck another nail into the coffin. “Another example is my relationship with Xiaolan. Our love for each is true, but I still stand by our agreement of a hundred years, and I refuse to marry her even a year earlier than that! This entire century will act as the test of time for our relationship and only by passing this test can we remain together for eternity!”

Da Bai’s mouth gaped open. What a blatant lie!

Little Xie rolled her eyes as she internally scoffed at An Lin for being a shameless hypocrite.

Bai Xian and Chun looked at each other, having clearly had their resolves shaken.

Sometimes, using oneself as an example was a very convincing tactic!

That’s right, even an outstanding man like An Lin wasn’t in any hurry, so why should Da Bai be in a hurry?

Bai Xian thought for a moment before conceding with a smile. “Chun and I were just bringing this up as an errant thought. You make your own decisions, Da Bai.”

“I will, woof!” Da Bai was extremely excited to have survived that ordeal.

An Lin also chimed in with a smile, “I’ll supervise Da Bai’s love life. I guarantee that under my supervision, Da Bai will be sure to discover himself and find his true love!”

Bai Xian paused for a moment before speaking again, “Alright, then I’ll have to trouble you with the duty of supervision, Mr. An Lin. I really do need some help from you with regard to Da Bai…”

“Please feel free to tell me, Senior Bai Xian.” An Lin nodded.

“If Da Bai… looks at any female from another tribe with pervy eyes, give him a slap for me! If he drools over them, slap him twice! And if he dares to go to places like brothels, break his legs for me!” Bai Xian spoke in a stern voice.

An Lin and Da Bai each drew a sharp intake of breath at the same time.

“Father, you’re trying to kill me!” Da Bai was on the verge of tears.

Chun and Bai Xian’s expressions remained extremely stern.

Chun echoed Bai Xian’s sentiment as she said, “We can refrain from rushing you into marriage, but your romantic interest can only be in dogs!”

Bai Xian nodded in agreement. “Mr. An Lin, I’m giving you full authority to bash Da Bai for any future transgressions!”

An Lin extended a respectful salute. “I’ll be sure to fulfill my duties.”

He now had an excuse to bash Da Bai in the future, hehehe…

Eating, sleeping, and bashing Da Bai. He now had a new recreational activity.

Da Bai’s face was etched with despair. He felt like he no longer had any meaning in life.

Thus, An Lin was able to save Da Bai from being rushed into a marriage.

Bai Xian and Chun turned their attention to other topics.

An Lin and Da Bai were also considering how to request access to the Five-Colored Lightning Pit from them.

“Oh… This little girl is so cute! Can I touch her?” Chun looked at Little Xie with a doting expression, becoming the latest victim to fall to her charms.

Little Xie shot an expressionless glance at Chun. “Piss off!”

An Lin: “…”

Chun: “…”

Da Bai: “…”

“Please don’t take it to heart, Senior Chun! Little Xie didn’t mean what she said. She has a very strange temper and tells everyone she meets to piss off, but she’s not actually asking you to piss off,” An Lin offered a hurried explanation.

Chun’s lips twitched slightly. Even if she really was asking her to piss off, she wasn’t going to.

An Lin immediately instructed Little Xie to go back to the Evil-Slaying Sword.

Bai Xian and Chun’s pupils both contracted at the sight of Little Xie disappearing into the Evil-Slaying Sword. That’s a sword spirit!

Da Bai took this opportunity to change the subject. “Woof woof! Big Brother An and I have something we have to do here…”

“What is it?” Bai Xian asked with a calm expression.

He wasn’t surprised at all that Da Bai had something to do. It would truly be suspicious if he was back just to visit his parents. There was no way Da Bai would take the initiative to do so, and he certainly wouldn’t bring An Lin back even if he did.

“Big Brother An wants to look for something in the Five-Colored Lightning Pit. Woof!” Da Bai replied.

“The Five-Colored Lightning Pit?” Bai Xian’s expression shifted.

“What are you looking for?” Chun asked with a grave expression.

“I’m looking for a bead that should be located somewhere within the Five-Colored Lightning Pit. Can you speak to Kui so that I can access the Five-Colored Lightning Pit?” An Lin replied.

The Dark Bead should have plummeted from the sky and buried itself deep into the Five-Colored Lightning Pit tens of thousands of years ago, so Kui might not have noticed. Otherwise, this mission would not be something a Return to Void Intermediate Stage Huang Fuwen could complete.

A difficult expression appeared on Bai Xian’s face, but he still nodded. “Alright, I’ll consult with Grand Elder Kui to try and secure his approval.”

An Lin was ecstatic to hear this. “Thank you, Senior Bai Xian!”
