An Lin and the others were feeling elated after finding the tomb of Celestial Immortal Shou Yang.
After experiencing many struggles, they finally found this place!
As the scout of the team, Battle God Zi Yang walked at the forefront of the group. They made their way through a dark passageway and arrived at a spacious room. This room was especially large, and there were ten large doors inside of it, all of which were locked. In the middle of the room, there was a pure white stone tablet.
An Lin and the others walked up to the stone tablet and found that there was a map drawn onto it.
“This… This isn’t a map of the tomb, is it?” Tian Lingling exclaimed in astonishment.
An Lin was also stupefied. Is this a f*cking tomb or a tourist attraction? There’s even a navigation map?!
According to the map, they were currently located at the bottom-most entrance of the tomb. Ten different paths snaked upward from this point, and they all converged back together after passing some intersecting node. This path then passed through three more nodes before finally reaching an end destination.
The ten different paths were called the “Ten Realm-Guardian Tribes”—Snake Spirit Clan, Heavenly Turtle Tribe, Dragon Tribe, Holy Martial Clan, Dark Wing Tribe, Vermilion Bird Tribe, Stone Tribe, Spirit Fish Clan, True Demon Tribe, and Void Spirit Tribe.
There were some tribes that An Lin knew very well, and there were also some tribes that he was completely unfamiliar with.
What surprised him most was the fact that the Dark Wing Tribe was also included among them!
The Dark Wing Tribe is part of the ten Realm-Guardian Tribes? Which realm do they guard? The entire worldly realm?
He felt that these definitely weren’t legitimate realm-guardian forces. True Demon Tribe, Dark Wing Tribe… These clearly didn’t look like decent and respectable tribes! The Human Tribe wasn’t even included!
“It looks as though these ten paths have been prepared for the ten of us. Perhaps each path holds a great opportunity. Guys, take your pick.” An Lin pondered for a moment before he suggested for each of them to pick a path.
White Spirit Snake didn’t hesitate at all, and she walked up to the Snake Spirit Clan door straight away. Little Qing was still wrapped around her arm like a decorative ornament, thus no one was worried about her not passing the trial which lay behind the door.
Tian Lingling chose the Spirit Fish Clan. There wasn’t any reason for this, other than that she felt like they would be easier to bully…
An Lin felt uneasy letting Tian Lingling go by herself, so he tasked Battle God Zi Yang with protecting her. After all, Tian Lingling was only a cultivator of the Tenth-Stage Dao Body.
Xu Xiaolan hesitated for a long time between the Vermilion Bird Tribe and Dragon Tribe. In the end, she chose the Vermilion Bird Tribe.
An Lin chose the Dark Wing Tribe. He wanted to see what tricks this tribe—with which he had a grudge with—had hidden in the path.
With barely any hesitation, Liu Qianhuan chose the Void Spirit Tribe. A rare look of seriousness flashed across her eyes.
The remaining few people weren’t too fussed about what tribe they got, so they all chose one randomly.
Su Qianyun chose the Heavenly Turtle Tribe path, Tang Ximen chose the Dragon Tribe path, Xuanyuan Cheng chose the Holy Martial Clan path, Yao Mingxi chose the True Demon Tribe path, and Hu Guan chose the Stone Tribe path.
As they walked up to the doors of the corresponding tribes that they had chosen, they found that there was an empty groove in the doors. After placing a jade talisman into this groove, the door would then slowly open and reveal the path behind it. These were passageways which were rippling with light.
Looking at his teammates who were all about to set foot upon their conquest, An Lin grinned. “I’ll wait for you guys at the intersection.”
Saying this, he stepped into the door before him without a second thought.
Within the passageway, golden light rippled about and slowly spread outwards like breaking waves.
An Lin kept walking forward, and a mysterious feeling coursed through his body. It was as if he was being tugged along by something.
Could this be the calling of fate? Is this my predestination?
He thought back to the earth-shattering battle which had occurred in Tibet, and adrenaline surged through his body. This was a battle between him and the Dark Wing Tribe!
Just as he was lost in his delusional thoughts, the jet-black sword in his hand started trembling involuntarily.
An Lin looked toward the Evil-Slaying Sword strangely. “Um… Am I getting this feeling because of you?” he asked hesitantly.
The Evil-Slaying Sword remained aloof and didn’t dignify him with a response.
An Lin sighed and continued on forward.

At the same time, Hu Guan had already arrived at a new realm. There were dozens of towering black pillars in this realm, and they all soared hundreds of meters into the air. These stone pillars were imposing and of primitive simplicity, yet they exuded a dangerous aura.
“Detected that trial-taker is of the Spirit Nurturing Initial Stage, activating normal mode.”
A sound suddenly traveled down from the skies. Immediately afterward, the black pillars opened their crimson eyes.
…
White Spirit Snake walked toward the end of the passageway.
“Little Qing, what monstrosities do you think are going to appear? I’m a bit scared…”
“Don’t worry, I’ll protect you from whatever appears.”
“I feel so useless. I’m always being protected by other people and can’t do anything by myself…”
“That’s because you still haven’t grown up yet! Once you grow up, you’ll be the one protecting others!”
As they talked, the two of them walked out of the passageway. What greeted them was a vast stretch of swamplands.
“Detected that trial-taker is of the Dao Body Stages, activating easy mode.”
Battle Goddess Bi Qiong was momentarily dazed upon hearing this. Then, she started chuckling softly. “Hehe, this is interesting. Who’d have thought that the difficulty could be adjusted according to the ranks of the trial-takers? However, it didn’t take into account my combat capability. That’s a bit insulting…”
…
Tang Ximen reached the end of the passageway and saw a black mountain that sat far in the distance. White bones were littered all over the ground, and a feeling of death permeated through the entire realm.
“Detected that trial-taker is of the Spirit Nurturing Final Stage, activating hard mode.”
“Heh, hard mode? I was just grumbling about how insipid and uneventful these past few days have been for me. This is exactly what I need!” Tang Ximen smiled faintly and drew his sword. An imposing aura suddenly erupted from his body.
I’ve been in this Ancient Barren Realm for so long yet I still haven’t gotten anything to show for it. I must obtain an inheritance this time!
…
Su Qianyun was feeling a little uneasy as she walked forward. She was used to being protected, but she had to fight an unknown enemy by herself now. This made her feel a little queasy and anxious.
She slowly walked out of the passageway. Then, she was stunned by the sight that greeted her.
“W-what’s this? Beach? Sea?” Su Qianyun’s delicate pink lips were slightly agape, and she looked toward the scenery before her in disbelief.
There was a glittering golden beach, a vast and endless sea, and a burst of radiant and enchanting sunshine… She felt as if she was in a dream.
“Detected that trial-taker is of the Spirit Nurturing Final Stage, activating hard mode.”
Right at this moment, a voice suddenly sounded in the skies.
Su Qianyun blinked in confusion. “Huh? What are you saying?”
M-hm, the announcement in the sky was spoken in Mandarin, so Student Su was left scratching her head.
…
However, the person who was most perplexed at this moment was not Su Qianyun. Rather, it was Liu Qianhuan.
Liu Qianhuan had arrived before a white expanse of land which stretched for as far as the eye could see. Colorful rays of light rippled throughout this entire realm, and countless multi-colored creatures were dancing on the ground. This scenery was like some piece of abstract art, and it felt completely distorted and unreal.
“Detected that trial-taker is of the Soul Formation Stage, activating hell mode.”
Liu Qianhuan was dumbfounded by what she heard.
Soul Formation Stage? I’m of the Soul Formation Stage?
I’m clearly of the Half-Step Soul Formation Stage! Why on earth are you activating hell mode difficulty?!
