Where was he supposed to inject vital energy after the blue crystal shattered? How was he supposed to pass the trial?
An Lin fell into a state of complete shock when the crystal shattered. He was totally unprepared for a situation like this.
Thinking back, it seemed like the crystal had only shattered after he struck it with his sword projection… Tears began to streak down An Lin’s face; he had been defeated by his own stupidity.
He immediately fell back into hasty retreat when he saw the power of extreme frost unleashed by the broken crystal.
But his speed in retreating was incomparable to the speed of the proliferation of the frosty aura. Everything within the chamber was instantly completely frozen and sealed.
An Lin’s body also froze in the air as his blood began to congeal. Even all the cells within his body were being frozen solid, and his Origin Energy of the Netherworld was forced into dissipation.
He felt like the biting chill was going to freeze even his consciousness.
Right when his consciousness was about to descend into darkness, An Lin caught sight of a figure slowly walking toward him amid the frosty blue aura permeating throughout the air.
This was a beautiful woman in a white dress. Her body was tall and slender, and her skin was as white as snow. Her movements seemed to be imbued with a slightly lonesome and regal grace as she made her way toward him.
She looked at An Lin, who had been frozen on the spot and rolled her eyes at him with displeasure.
A wave of shock swept through An Lin’s heart— holy f*ck, why was she in the crystal!?
The woman was none other than Bai Ling, and her appearance after the blue crystal shattered was completely unexpected to An Lin.
Just as An Lin’s consciousness was about to be forced into submission by the cold, the frosty aura within the chamber suddenly converged onto Bai Ling and the temperature around her was instantly elevated.
An Lin’s body fell backward like a rigid zombie.
Thump!
The sound of a clash between two solid objects reverberated throughout the chamber as his body crashed into the ground, but he felt no sense of pain.
His body had yet to recover from being frozen and even his sense of pain had been completely dulled.
Da Bai was also standing stationary and upright on the other side. He was rooted to the spot like a statue.
Bai Ling made her way toward An Lin and squatted down by his side before poking his frozen face with a slim finger. “Are you retarded?”
An Lin: “???”
Bai Ling glared at him with her beautiful eyes. “Just take the trial like a normal person would, why would you lash out at the crystal with your sword? Don’t you know how hard it is for me to cast spells from within the crystal? Not only did you shatter the crystal, you almost chopped me in half as well. You’ve just damaged public infrastructure as well as threatened the safety of the mastermind; these are sins punishable by death, do you understand?”
An Lin’s lips twitched. What the f*ck! How was he supposed to know she was casting spells from within the crystal?!
He was finally able to regain the ability to talk through the use of his Evergreen technique.
“Isn’t this the Trial of Extreme Frost? What’s the mastermind doing camping in the crystal and casting spells at me?”
“Hehe, this is called human service, do you understand? How else was I supposed to increase the difficulty of this trial?” Bai Ling looked down on him with a disdainful expression.
Human service? Increased difficulty?
An Lin almost spat out a mouthful of blood after hearing her words. He glowered at Bai Ling in rage. “Why the hell would you increase the difficulty!? No wonder… No wonder I used all my trump cards but still found it difficult to approach the blue crystal. I was wondering how such an insane trial could exist for a Spirit Nurturing Stage cultivator; turns out it was you messing around with me the whole time!!”

A sneer surfaced on Bai Ling’s face. “What about it? Do you have objections? These are my ruins so I can do whatever I want. Besides, the inheritance of the Purple Star Research Institute is extremely valuable and only people who are able to stand up in the face of adversity deserve something so precious.”
An Lin grimaced at her words. He had already experienced just how low Bai Ling could stoop back when he last came here with his team. Who would have thought that she would go even further this time and artificially increase the difficulty of the trials with this human service nonsense!
“Then did I pass this trial?” An Lin asked feebly.
He had already made up his mind. When he successfully passed all the trials here, he would give Bai Ling the pummeling of her life.
Bai Ling seemed to be a little hesitant as well. After a moment of thought, she finally replied, “Even though the methods you used during this trial weren’t ideal, but seeing as our relationship is somewhat friendly, I’ll open the back door for you and grant you a pass for this trial!”
What the f*ck was this about being somewhat friendly? Who would increase the difficulty of the trials for their friends?
An Lin was internally seething with rage, but he still forced a grateful smile onto his face. “Thank you for your kindness, Big Sister Bai, I’ll be sure to continue doing my best!”
“Good boy, there’s just one last trial left. You’ll be able to receive the entire inheritance from our Purple Star ruins once you pass…” Bai Ling ruffled An Lin’s hair with a gentle expression.
An Lin had never had his head touched like this and goosebumps instantly appeared all over his body.
However, his mind had been drawn to the part in Bai Ling’s sentence where she notified him the next trial would be the last one.
“Big Sister Bai, can you give me some hints on what the last trial will be like?” An Lin asked with an affectionate expression and rubbed against Bai Ling’s slender hand with his head in an intimate gesture.
“I can’t tell you that, but what I can tell you is, there will be no more love in the form of human service from me in the last trial.” Bai Ling replied with a smile.
Love my a*s! All she did was to increase the difficulty, what was the point of trying to sugarcoat it?!
Just as An Lin was grumbling to himself internally, Bai Ling had already stood up and her gentle expression turned aloof and cold once again. “Congratulations, you have passed the Trial of Extreme Frost and can move on to the next trial.”
Her body once again dissipated into specks of light at the conclusion of her sentence.
An Lin lay on the ground to recover for a while before shakily getting up from the ground.
He had yet to recover from the damage inflicted on his body by the extreme cold nor from the after-effects of using the Origin Energy of the Netherworld.
He turned to look behind him at Da Bai to find that he was sprawled on onto the ground with his tongue out like a dead dog. He was clearly also suffering from being frozen solid.
“Da Bai, are you ok?” An Lin looked at Da Bai with a sympathetic expression.
“Only now do I know that my thick, fat, and long fur are not sufficient to insulate me from everything, woof!” Da Bai replied with a disconsolate expression.
Thus, the two of them were once again severely injured during this trial, and they began their recovery in silence.
Da Bai and An Lin recovered from their injuries within a day.
However, it took An Lin two more days to recover from the after-effect of using the Origin Energy of the Netherworld.
“There’s not much time left, let’s start the last trial!”
An Lin had fully recovered and was now raring to go.
“Alright, let us rescue the beautiful princess being held captive in these ruins, woof!” Da Bai also chimed in with aplomb.
The metal gate was slowly pushed open, and a crimson tunnel appeared in front of them.
An Lin set foot upon this tunnel and began his final trial.
