Chapter 412: The Heavenly Fire Mutant Beast

“You’re far too kind, Mr. Mo Hai,” An Lin replied with a smile.

Mo Hai made his way toward the Black Crystal Flame Python and sliced open its body with his saber.

A ball of fire in the shape of a crimson flame wing was burning within the python’s body, from which emanated extremely pure flame power fluctuations.

“That’s an encounter rate of a hundred percent so far, not bad eh? Here, take this and absorb it, An Lin!” Mo Hai handed the flame wing to An Lin with a smile.

Flame wings couldn’t be stowed away into storage rings and each person could only take one flame wing back to the Vermilion Bird Sect with them. They had their eyes set solely on high-grade projections of the Vermillion Bird Flame Wing, so the best way to take care of these lower grade flame wings was to absorb their energy.

An Lin accepted the flame wing projection and began to absorb the flame power within it into his own body.

The amount of flame power imbued within the flame wing was extremely massive and created an effect that was not inferior to that of the best fire-type spirit pills.

After absorbing the flame power within the flame wing, An Lin’s eyes seemed to have become a shade brighter, and the four Divine Flames within his body were all enhanced to a small extent.

“These flame wings truly are great for cultivation! If I stay here and continue to slay mutant beasts to absorb their flame wings, I’m sure I would be able to make a breakthrough in the Dao of fire!” An Lin exclaimed in amazement.

Mo Hai shook his head with a slight smile. “Only someone like you can have such bold thoughts, Mr. An Lin. All the sect disciples are risking their lives just by being in these trial grounds and are extremely thankful to even obtain just a medial-grade projection of the Vermillion Bird Flame Win. No one would dare to treat these trial grounds as hunting grounds in fear they become hunted themselves…”

An Lin’s eyes lit up slightly. “Then is there a limit on how long we can stay in the Vermilion Bird Trial Grounds?”

Mo Hai faltered slightly at his question before replying, “The energy within the red teleportation badges generally last for around seven days, and they’ll automatically activate to teleport us back to the Vermillion Bird Sect once time’s up. Of course, we can also choose to activate them before that if we’d like to return to the sect early. Mr. An Lin, you’re not thinking about staying here to collect flame wings, are you? These trial grounds are unimaginably perilous; there have even been over twenty Soul Formation Final Stage cultivators who have met their demise here.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t stay here that long, let’s continue hunting,” An Lin replied with a smile.

I guess I’ll stay here for six days instead of seven then!

Mo Hai heaved a sigh of relief at An Lin’s words.

With An Lin’s insane combat prowess, even if the two of them were to encounter a heavenly flame mutant beast, there was a chance they would be able to slay it with their combined strength without having to use the mystic treasure of the sect.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Mo Hai estimated that they would be able to obtain two high-grade flame wings within four days.

The two of them didn’t waste any more time and rose into the air again before flying deeper into the mountains.

Close to twenty hours passed before they knew it.

In total, the two of them had slain roughly a dozen spirit fire mutant beasts and four earth fire mutant beasts, which was a fantastic haul, but they had yet to encounter any heavenly fire mutant beasts.

Clang!

A crimson saber projection of over a hundred feet in size crashed down with devastating flame power before cleaving open the flame domain of an earth fire mutant beast, White Flame Wolf, and going on to slice its massive body in half.

Mo Hai retracted his saber gracefully with a scornful expression on his face. “What an arrogant kitty-cat, it has paid the ultimate price for its arrogance!”

Clap clap clap…

An Lin burst into applause.

“I give that flex seventy points. If you had looked up into the sky instead of down at the fallen tiger, I would’ve given it ten more points!”

Mo Hai immediately nodded with a thoughtful expression. “Thank you for your instructions, Mr. An Lin, I’ll be sure to keep that in mind next time!”

An Lin nodded with gratification. During their mutant beast killing spree, he would occasionally instruct Mo Hai in the art of flexing. Mo Hai’s flexing aptitude was quite good, and he improved in leaps and bounds under An Lin’s careful instructions.

Mo Hai absorbed the flame power within the projection of the Vermillion Bird Flame Wing before nodding with a satisfied expression. “Let’s continue our search for a heavenly fire mutant beast.”

However, An Lin did not heed his call. Instead, he had his gaze fixed on the carcass of the White Flame Tiger.

He ran through a rough calculation in his head and discovered his frying pan’s enhancement ability should have cooled down by now. There was an ingredient lying right at his feet; he couldn’t just waste this opportunity!

“Mr. An Lin, are you alright?” Mo Hai asked curiously.

“Huh?” An Lin came to his senses before adopting a solemn expression. “Mr. Mo Hai, are you hungry?”

Mo Hai shook his head. “I’m a Soul Formation Stage cultivator, I can easily get by without food for a few days.”

An Lin nodded. “Good, I’m going to cook some tiger meat first, seeing as you’re not hungry, you better not try to eat any!”

He made his way toward the White Flame Tiger as he spoke and began to slice into its flesh with his Evil-Slaying Sword.

Mo Hai stared at An Lin with incredulity. “You’re going to cook some tiger meat now? And you’re scared that I’ll try and steal the meat from you? Are you trying to make a fool out of yourself? Just what are you thinking?!”

An Lin completely ignored Mo Hai’s questions and brought out his frying pan from his storage ring before starting a fire and adding condiments into the frying pan. He then tossed a portion of tiger flesh into the air before dicing it into even slices with a series of black sword projections from his Evil-Slaying Sword. The slices of near-translucent meat fell into the frying pan where An Lin immediately began to cook them!

Mo Hai couldn’t help but nod in admiration at An Lin’s skilled and practiced movements. “What a pro!”

An alluring aroma began to gradually waft into the air as An Lin continued to cook the tiger meat.

Mo Hai’s body trembled as he caught a whiff of the alluring scent and an expression of incredulity appeared on his face. “F*ck, that smells so good… Could the flesh of the White Flame Tiger be a top-grade food ingredient!?”

“Hehe, the flesh of a White Flame Tiger can be considered to be an above-average food ingredient at best; the most important factor is my godlike cooking skills.” An Lin smiled lightly.

Mo Hai nodded with a dazed expression on his face.

The alluring aroma grew stronger as the dish neared completion, and Mo Hai stared at the meat in the frying pan with a longing gaze. “Can I take back what I just said?”

An Lin glanced at Mo Hai with a chuckle. “Didn’t you say you weren’t hungry and that I was making a fool out of myself?”

Mo Hai apologized with an awkward expression on his face. “I was just spouting nonsense! I haven’t eaten in many days already, can you please take pity on me and give me some of the meat in the pan?”

An Lin replied in a resolute tone, “No!”

Mo Hai: “…”

Right at this moment, a few giant wolves with black flames burning on their bodies slowly approached An Lin as they stared at the meat in the frying pan with greedy expressions.

“Ha, my cooking can even attract mutant beasts, what a pleasant surprise…” An Lin looked at the approaching wolves with an ecstatic expression.

“Mr. An Lin, leave them to me! You focus on your cooking and just make sure to give me some meat to replenish my energy after I slay these wolves!” Mo Hai immediately volunteered.

Right at this moment, the crimson clouds in the sky began to surge violently.

A white figure descended toward them with thousands of Flying Flame Birds right on her heels.

“Shangguan Yi!” Mo Hai faltered slightly after catching sight of the figure in the sky.

The countless Flying Flame birds swept through the air like a sea of flames and their combined, overwhelming aura gave her a sense of asphyxiation.

There was a six-winged golden flame bird leading the pack which was a heavenly fire mutant beast!

“Mr. Mo Hai, Mr. An Lin! Please help me distract these Flying Flame Birds for ten seconds while I prepare a spell technique!” Shangguan Yi was looking a little disheveled as she transmitted her voice to them from afar.

An Lin was also taken aback by the scenes unfolding before his eyes. “Holy f*ck, Shangguan Yi, you’re even more bada*s than me! How did you attract thousands of mutant beasts all at once?!”

An awkward expression appeared on Shangguan Yi’s face after hearing An Lin’s words, and she flew even faster toward An Lin and Mo Hai…

An Lin looked at the meat in the frying pan, and his heart throbbed with pain.

The meat wasn’t fully cooked yet, and if he stopped cooking now, the flavor-enhancement effect of the frying pan would be wasted for the day!

“Mr. Mo Hai, you told me you’d keep me safe, so I’m counting on you. I’m going to finish cooking first, so I’ll leave the Flying Flame Birds to you! I’ll split you a third of this meat afterward!” An Lin turned a solemn gaze on Mo Hai.

Mo Hai almost blacked out after hearing this. F*ck!

The heavenly fire mutant bird descended upon him with hundreds of spirit fire mutant birds and thousands of normal fire mutant birds behind it, how the hell was he supposed to stand against this?!

“Mr. An Lin, I was just spouting nonsense, can you pretend like I never said that?” Mo Hai looked up at the countless Flying Flame Birds in the sky, and he felt like he was on the verge of tears.
