The two Gundams also landed beside An Lin, appearing extremely gallant as they glowed with a silvery light.
Mo Hai looked at the two Gundams and offered up genuine words of praise, “They truly are puppets with strength equivalent to at least four Ji Yongfang’s.”
“Oh, you’re far too kind, these are just a few toys I fiddle with from time to time,” An Lin replied modestly.
Mo Hai’s lips twitched violently, and he suddenly had the urge to cleave this serial flexer to death.
The humanoid wolf slowly trudged toward An Lin. It had already sustained severe injuries from its battle with An Lin, and its subsequent battle against the army of mutant beasts only worked to further exacerbate those injuries, to the extent that its aura was now severely diminished and it had blood all over its body.
“Come here, White-Scaled Wolf God, eat this!”
An Lin brought out a second-grade spirit pill, Dragon Blood Pill, before tossing it to the humanoid wolf.
The humanoid wolf accepted the spirit pill with a grateful expression and swallowed it without hesitation.
“Alright, we’ll talk as we move!” An Lin rose into the air on his brick.
The humanoid wolf stared at him vacantly. “Where are we going?”
“To kill your divine leader, who captured our Sect Brother!”
An Lin spoke with a nonchalant expression as if he was only elaborating on an insignificant detail.
The hair on the back of the humanoid wolf’s neck immediately stood on end, and its legs almost gave out from under itself. “You, you want to kill our divine leader? Are you crazy? So you guys come from the same sect as that human… But, but even then, you’ll be walking to your deaths!”
An Lin’s face fell. “Are you trying to resist your Master’s commands?”
An extremely powerful sense of impending doom enveloped the humanoid wolf’s body as if it was going to die if it even thought about resisting its Master’s commands.
In the end, it had no choice but to follow behind An Lin with tears streaming down its face.
The three of them rose into the air and flew toward the location indicated by the divine talismans.
“Master, the divine leader has the black phoenix bloodline and is one of the most powerful beings within the Ancient Man Tribe! Even though it had been sealed by nine heavenly chains, it’s still extremely powerful and definitely not someone you can stand against!” the humanoid wolf spoke with a terrified expression.
It had just saved itself by discarding its dignity and becoming An Lin’s slave, but now it was about to meet its maker by going against the divine leader! That would simply be a tragedy! It began to tremble uncontrollably as it recalled all the torture methods the divine leader used on traitors.
An Lin’s interest seemed to have been piqued. “Go on, tell us just how powerful is your divine leader. Be more specific.”
The humanoid wolf looked at An Lin with a desperate expression. “The divine leader is definitely more powerful than you, Master. Don’t go, you’ll die!”
“You haven’t even seen my full power, how would you know it’s more powerful than me?” An Lin blinked with curiosity.
The humanoid wolf didn’t have a response to this, and it knew from An Lin’s determined expression that there was no going back. Hence, it could only heave a resigned sigh and continue to provide intel. “The divine leader is one of the Divine Generals of the Ancient Man Tribe with power comparable to a human cultivator at the Return to Void Pinnacle Stage cultivation base.”
Even An Lin’s breathing became more labored after hearing this.
Return to Void Pinnacle Stage? Could he even f*cking survive being poked by the divine leader?!
“The divine leader entered the Vermilion Bird Trial Grounds to try and obtain the power of the vermilion bird that was sealed here. However, he was instead trapped by the nine heavenly chains the vermilion bird had set up and those chains have been constantly sucking away his power so he’s now less than a tenth as powerful as he once was. However, even so, his power is well beyond anything you can imagine!” The humanoid wolf trembled uncontrollably at the mere recollection of the divine leader in action.
A solemn expression appeared on An Lin’s face. He knew just how powerful cultivators at the Return to Void Pinnacle Stage were. Even if he only had less than ten percent of his original strength, this was a powerful being that they probably wouldn’t be able to stand up against.
“Aside from that, the divine leader also owns a white phoenix which is also extremely more powerful. At the very least, it is much more powerful than anyone from the rest of our tribe.” The humanoid wolf grew more and more dejected as he spoke. It was as if he was reading out his own will.
An Lin gestured for the humanoid wolf to continue talking and tell them everything it knew.
The humanoid wolf sighed before continuing, “The demonic moon is going to reappear soon. The emergence of the demonic moon gives rise to all sorts of strange phenomena, and the divine leader would always try to take this opportunity to offer a human sacrifice to the demonic moon in order to try and weaken the power of the heavenly chains. To be initiated, the sacrificial ritual also requires a plant by the name of Black Emperor Weed. Our army was searching for this Black Emperor Weed when we ran into you guys.”
An Lin relayed all the information from the humanoid wolf to Shangguan Yi and Mo Hai.
Both of them adopted extremely grave expressions after hearing An Lin’s words.
Mo Hai heaved a long sigh. “A tenth of the power of a cultivator at the Return to Void Pinnacle Stage, how powerful is that again?”

An Lin massaged his brows. “I don’t know, about the equivalent of a hundred Ji Yongfang?”
Mo Hai: “…”
Shangguan Yi: “…”
An Lin then offered up some words of consolation. “Well, the humanoid wolf doesn’t know exactly how much of his original power that the divine leader has left. It only told me that he had less than ten percent of his original power. One percent is still less than ten percent!”
Shangguan Yi’s expression remained extremely grave. “Life is not a joke, we have to plan for the worst-case scenario!”
Mo Hai and An Lin both trembled at her words as they recalled Shangguan Yi’s appalling luck.
They really did have to plan for the worst-case scenario!
So what now? Should they still try to save Yang Yuan?
The three of them fell completely silent. The enemy was far more powerful than they had anticipated.
All three of them were struck by a sense of asphyxiation, as if they were being crushed under a tall mountain.
“Little Wolf, are there any other defensive measures we have to take precautions against? Like spell formations or traps and things like that?” An Lin suddenly turned to the humanoid wolf with a question.
The humanoid wolf was too distraught to even be mad at his new nickname, and he replied with a bitter smile, “The divine leader wouldn’t set up traps like that; he’s very confident in his own abilities.” [note to editor: going to start referring to the humanoid wolf with male gender pronouns instead of it from now, it is just a really awkward pronoun to use and I feel like it’s time the humanoid wolf graduated to gender pronoun status now that he has a nickname]
An Lin fell silent for a moment before speaking again, “Then, does the divine leader have any weaknesses? ”
The humanoid wolf scratched his head, “Well… The divine leader really likes to flex, does that count?”
An Lin: “…”
Boom!
The clouds in the distance suddenly began to surge like massive waves.
The ground below them also began to tremble and quake as pillars of flames broke through the ground below and rose into the air, lighting up heaven and earth with a brilliant crimson light.
“The phenomena have begun; the demonic moon is about to appear!” the humanoid wolf said in a panicked voice.
An Lin’s expression shifted as he accelerated further.
Mo Hai gritted his teeth before turning to An Lin. “Mr. An Lin, if the enemy truly possesses the power of a Return to Void Stage, then you can give up on this mission. There’s no need to make meaningless sacrifices for Brother Yang Yuan.”
An Lin turned to look at Mo Hai. “Then what about you two?”
Mo Hai fell silent for a moment before replying. “I’ll do my best.”
“Then I’ll do my best too.” An Lin pursed his lips. “Don’t be thinking you two are the only Vermilion Bird Sect disciples here, I’m also an in-name disciple too! Are you guys the only ones allowed to risk your lives?”
Mo Hai gripped his Divine Phoenix Disc and looked at An Lin with a smile. “You are a true friend.”
“I value my life too. If I can’t beat the divine leader, I’ll run away without needing a reminder,” An Lin amended.
Mo Hai laughed heartily. “I really like honest people like you, let’s go for a drink once we make it out of here!”
“For sure!” An Lin nodded.
“And cook something for us too!” Mo Hai continued.
An Lin rolled his eyes. “Those are your true intentions, aren’t they?”
Mo Hai averted his gaze with a smile but didn’t retort.
Shangguan Yi looked deeply at the two of them, but she didn’t say anything either as she turned to look into the distance as well.
The thick clouds in the air were beginning to surge and dissipate under the scorching heat from the pillars of flames.
Crimson light peeked through the gaps in the clouds and shone onto the ground below.
