Chapter 426: The Demonic Moon

The three of them arrived at the sacrificial altar and were all extremely saddened at the sight of the man who had been bound by vines with black rods puncturing his limbs and chest.

An Lin was being carried by the two Gundams and turned toward the humanoid wolf. “Little Lang, how do we get rid of these things?” [1. Lang means wolf in Chinese, Little Lang is a nickname An Lin has just invented for the humanoid wolf.]

The humanoid wolf replied with a solemn expression. “The black vines are known as Demonic Sealing Vines, they’ll retract upon contact with fire. However, I don’t know the origin of those black rods. They were prepared by the divine leader for the sole purpose of the sacrificial ritual.”

An Lin relayed this information to Mo Hai and Shangguan Yi.

Mo Hai immediately unleashed his crimson flames on the vines after learning of this.

Sure enough, the vines quickly withdrew under the scorching flames before finally bunching together into a ball around ten feet in diameter.

Yang Yuan’s body began to fall back without the support of the vines, and Mo Hai caught him gently before he hit the ground.

Yang Yuan looked like he was on the brink of death, and Mo Hai once again unleashed his crimson flames upon the ball of vines in rage.

The crimson flames burst forth, but the ball of vines staged a hurried retreat as if it had a mind of its own.

Shangguan Yi grasped the air in front of her, and the power of extreme frost converged to freeze the ball of vines into a round block of ice.

“This thing is a little weird, I’m going to take it back to the sect for the elders to do some research on it,” Shangguan Yi said.

Mo Hai didn’t reply as he turned his gaze onto the cylindrical rods protruding from Yang Yuan’s body.

He could feel that these rods were relentlessly sucking away at Yang Yuan’s life-force, and on top of that, they had the ability of spatial-sealing.

Shangguan Yi made her way toward Yang Yuan and grasped onto one of the cylindrical rods, only to find that her movements were restricted by an extremely powerful sealing force, thereby preventing her from extracting the rods.

Her brows knitted tightly together as she looked at the black metal rods with a cold expression. “These things are the reason why Yang Yuan was unable to activate his teleportation badge…”

Yang Yuan opened his eyes and forced a smile onto his own face. “Thank you for risking your life to save me, it’s too bad I won’t be able to repay you… The emergence of the demonic moon makes this an extremely dangerous place; you have to get out of here…”

“What are you saying, Brother Yang Yuan? We have to leave together!” Mo Hai spoke through gritted teeth.

Yang Yuan shook his head lightly. “I will only be a burden to you guys. Countless beasts will appear here when the demonic moon disappears… There’s no time left! If you refuse to leave, I’ll kill myself by severing my own meridians!”

The muscles in Mo Hai’s arms bulged as he gripped the black metal rods with tears in his eyes. “We’ve come this far and endured so much, I refuse to abandon you like this.”

A light smile appeared on Yang Yuan’s face. “Tell Sister Tao Zhi that I’m sorry..”

He slowly closed his eyes as if he was preparing to sacrifice himself.

“Quit it with the corny lines, the mighty Sword Immortal An Lin hasn’t even had a go yet and you’re already giving up?” An Lin placed his hand on one of the black rods and began carving a complex formation.

A complex formation appeared in the air as An Lin circulated his remaining slivers of vital energy with all his might.

He fought against the after-effect of using the Origin Energy of the Netherworld as he forced his vital through his meridians with great difficulty. His hand trembled uncontrollably, and blood was beginning to seep from his mouth.

“An Lin, you…” Mo Hai looked at An Lin with a shocked expression.

His expression was mirrored by Shangguan Yi.

Yang Yuan slowly opened his eyes and was greeted by the sight of a man with blood seeping out of his mouth, but there was a smile on his face nonetheless as he carved out a formation with his trembling hand.

The formation flashed brightly before merging into the metal rod protruding from Yang Yuan’s chest.

An Lin gripped onto the metal rod and pulled it out in one motion!

Splat…

Blood splattered everywhere as An Lin extracted the cylindrical rod, which was stained with blood.

Mo Hai and Shangguan Yi both faltered slightly.

“You… You succeeded?” Mo Hai’s expression slowly turned into one of shock and ecstasy.

Yang Yuan also stared blankly at An Lin as a glimmer of hope welled up in his heart.

“From my memory, I could see that this appeared to be a sacrificial device used by the Purple Star civilization. Looks like I guessed right. Let’s continue…” An Lin explained with a smile.

The fanatical light in the humanoid wolf’s eyes glowed even brighter. To him, An Lin was now a powerful being that could do anything and everything!

After that, all four metal rods were extracted by An Lin one by one. His face became paler with each rod he extracted, and after extracting the final rod, he spat forth a mouthful of blood and almost blacked out from overexertion.

Mo Hai and Shangguan Yi clenched their fists tightly as they stared at An Lin intently.

They didn’t try to talk An Lin into stopping as they could see his determination from his expression.

After the last metal rod was extracted, Yang Yuan’s vital energy began to circulate again, and a hint of color reappeared in his cheeks. His body had been severely injured, but it looked like his life was no longer under threat.

An Lin didn’t even have a chance to heave a sigh of relief when heaven and earth suddenly began to tremble again.

A series of massive beasts appeared in the sky, all of them with extremely powerful auras.

A black spot suddenly appeared in the center of the demonic moon in the sky.

An Lin and the others looked up to find that the demonic moon now had the appearance of a monstrous eye which was currently in the process of surveying the world below.

“We have to get out of here, now is the time when the dead souls of the beasts reemerge. The entirety of the southern region of the Vermilion Bird Trial Grounds is going to become a battleground!” Yang Yuan spoke in a panicked voice.

Boom!

As he was speaking, a mountain in the distance suddenly crumbled, and a huge rhinoceros a few thousand feet tall stepped out as it raised its head to roar at the sky, creating devastating soundwaves which fractured the ground in a radius of over a thousand meters around itself.

The rhinoceros was powerful beyond belief. Although its body was a little insubstantial, the ancient, powerful aura that burst forth from his body was enough to elevate the onlooker’s heart rate.

This was just the beginning. A massive, bottomless fracture suddenly appeared in the ground at this moment.

Gigantic pythons, centipedes of over ten thousand feet in length, massive scorpions, and a host of other ancient mutant beasts crawled out from the fracture and onto this crimson continent.

A series of flying mutant beasts began to wage battle in the sky above. There were wyrms flying through the clouds, skeletal birds that looked like swords, and massive falcons with lightning flashing around their bodies… All of them collided in a brutal free-for-all battle, staining the entire sky red with their blood.

Melancholy music sounded between heaven and earth, and everyone was struck by strange hallucinations.

“Use the teleportation badges right now!” Yang Yuan roared.

An Lin, Mo Hai, and Shangguan Yi all brought out their red badges and began to activate them after glancing at one another!

An Lin stowed his two Gundams away into his storage ring and also stowed away the five metal rods after a momentary hesitation.

All four teleportation badges glowed with a brilliant light as a teleportation spell formation took shape underfoot.

Right at this moment, a giant beast with two heads and six legs wielding a gigantic mace suddenly caught sight of An Lin and the others. The giant beast immediately let loose an enraged roar before stomping toward them.

This mutant beast was over a kilometer tall, and each of its footsteps caused the ground to tremble and quake.

The White-Scaled Wolf God almost sh*t itself at the sight of the giant mutant beast, and he immediately latched onto An Lin with tears streaming down his face. “Master, don’t abandon Little Lang, Little Lang doesn’t want to die… Waah…”

An Lin looked at the humanoid wolf with a helpless expression. “But it looks like this teleportation badge can only teleport its user.”

“Waah… I don’t care, I’m not letting go of you!” The humanoid wolf cried like a little puppy as he latched on tightly to An Lin’s clothes.

The giant mutant beast was already upon them, and its mace swung down like a small mountain.

The teleportation spell formation glowed with a bright light, and An Lin and the others disappeared on the spot.

Boom!

The mace crashed into the ground with a thunderous boom, creating a massive crater in the ground!
