Chapter 792: An Unexpected Item

Translator: Henyee Translations  Editor: Henyee Translations

An Lin and Ao Niu were both dumbstruck.

That sword strike was brilliant!

The earth-shattering sword projection had swept through the air with the power to decapitate mountains and part oceans! It was the perfect embodiment of beauty and power… It was the most magnificent sword strike the world had ever seen!

A pleased smile appeared on Xu Xiaolan’s face at the sight of An Lin, who had yet to recover his composure to give her a reply.

The lack of a reply was the best reply at this moment.

“Let’s go see what’s in the carcass of this crimson bird,” Xu Xiaolan said as she made her way toward the crimson bird.

An Lin finally came to his senses, and he trailed behind her like an ardent fan. “Xiaolan, you’re so awesome!”

Ao Niu also wanted to express its reverence, but it was unable to think of a suitable adjective and could only offer a heartfelt “bad*ss”!

Xu Xiaolan’s footsteps faltered, and she glanced speechlessly at the man and the cow with compliment disabilities before making her way toward the crimson bird again.

How big was a crimson bird with a wingspan of over ten kilometers?

It would probably be able to squash an entire city flat just by lying down.

Aside from the Heavenly Void Beast, this was the largest living being An Lin had ever seen.

“Moo! What a terrifying aura! To think that its remnant aura would still be so terrifying even after all this time!” Ao Niu’s fur stood on end, and it’s heart trembled involuntarily as it approached the crimson bird.

“I can feel some residual power of the divine dao emanating from its body. This bird would’ve at least been at the Return to Void Pinnacle Stage when it was still alive,” Xu Xiaolan said as she analyzed it.

“Perhaps it was a Dao Integration Stage mythological beast,” An Lin speculated.

He thought for a moment before a bold notion occurred to him. “Xiaolan, seeing as the red light is glowing within its body, could it be the Kirin Blood Jade?”

Xu Xiaolan burst into laughter. “This bird is not the Demonic Blood Kirin, how could the Kirin Blood Jade be in its body?”

An Kirin blinked. “Then… what if it swallowed the Demonic Blood Kirin?”

Xu Xiaolan: “…”

She had no response to that.

This was the Realm of the Fallen Demonic Blood Kirin, so it wasn’t entirely implausible that the Kirin had died within the crimson bird.

An Lin and Xu Xiaolan arrived at the foot of the crimson bird and looked up into the sky at its chest, where a red light pulsed like a sun that couldn’t decide whether it still wanted to continue shining.

“Gasp… It’s so high up!” An Lin looked up at the bird’s chest, which was over a thousand meters in the air, and he asked, “If we fly up there, are we going to be oppressed by the stars?”

“I don’t know. Those Demonic Blood Beasts were probably special beings that were exempted from the oppressive power of the stars. How about we find a guinea pig?” Xu Xiaolan was a little hesitant.

An Lin sighed with resignation. “The problem is, there isn’t anyone else around.”

Xu Xiaolan chuckled lightly. “But there IS a cow around.”

Ao Niu’s body trembled, and it immediately ran toward the huge bird carcass with excitement. “Moo! I think we should take things easy! Let’s climb up slowly from here. As long as we remain in contact with the bird’s body, which is in turn in contact with the ground, it shouldn’t count as flying!”

Ao Niu ran up the bird’s leg as quickly as it could, in fear of being used by An Lin and Xu Xiaolan as their guinea pig!

The two of them exchanged amused smiles. This cow was pretty adorable sometimes. They hadn’t even said anything, and Ao Niu had already taken the initiative to lead from the front…

Ao Niu raced up the crimson bird’s leg using all four of its powerful legs at once. There was no reaction from the stars in the sky, so An Lin followed along.

The two of them speculated that the oppression of the stars did not seem to have anything to do with whether someone was physically on the ground or not.

After all, they were riding on Ao Niu’s back before, so they had actually left the ground.

However, they were not struck by the oppressive power of the stars.

Why was that the case?

There could be two explanations for this; the first of which was that they didn’t use their powers to actively fly into the air, and the second was that they were in contact with something that was in contact with the ground. Among these two possibilities, the latter appeared to be the most likely.

As an example, they had been wearing shoes this entire time, so their bodies weren’t actually in physical contact with the ground as the sole of the shoe stood between their foot and the ground. So why weren’t they struck by the oppressive power of the stars?

It was because they were in contact with something that was in turn in contact with the ground!

“We should use Ao Niu to test our hypothesis next time,” An Lin mused.

“Hmm…” Xu Xiaolan nodded in agreement.

A chill suddenly ran down Ao Niu’s spine as he ran up the side of the gigantic bird, and it accelerated even further in its ascent.

Even after countless years, a faint red sheen still revolved around the massive bird’s feathers.

Remnant wisps of extremely fearsome power could still be found in each of the feathers, and one could probably pluck a feather and craft quite a powerful magic tool for themselves.

However, An Lin didn’t intend to pluck any of the feathers. He was planning to slice the crimson bird into a few pieces before putting it away into his storage ring.

“Moo! It’s here.” Ao Niu arrived at a certain location on the crimson bird’s back before turning to Xu Xiaolan and An Lin.

The location it was situated at was right where the red light was pulsing from.

An Lin pulled out his Evil-Slaying Sword and slowly sliced away at the bird’s humongous back by unleashing a series of sharp black sword projections.

The red light grew more and more dazzling as the crimson bird’s body was sliced open, making it appear as if it were a pulsing red star in the darkness of the night.

After slicing through its back, a glowing red space was revealed to An Lin.

“This is…”

An Lin’s pupils contracted as he stared at the sight before him in astonishment.

Xu Xiaolan and Ao Niu were also in disbelief.

The object exuding the red light before them wasn’t some heart, or some blood jade, or any other divine item. It was instead a sigil!

This was a pulsing sigil from which an extremely formidable aura exuded!

The crimson sigil appeared to be in the shape of a bird in flight, and the vast, ancient aura emanating from it hinted at how extraordinary it was.

What was a sigil? It was a vessel for information, energy, and spell techniques. It could even be a vessel for some sort of inheritance!

“Why would there be a sigil here?” An Lin mused to himself.

Xu Xiaolan shook her head with a solemn expression. “I don’t know, but we need to be careful. This is quite possibly a sigil left by a mythological beast. If the power from within it erupts, we will not be able to defend ourselves against it.”

An Lin nodded in agreement. The fact that the sigil still exuded such a vast aura after countless years hinted at the insane amount of power stored within.

Thus, the three of them stood around the sigil while at a bit of a loss for what to do.

“So what do we do next?” An Lin swallowed as he stared at the dazzling sigil before him.

Xu Xiaolan remained silent.

The sigil before them was like a potential treasure vault that was also fraught with danger. Risk and reward combined together in one appealing yet frightening package, daring them to take a step forward.

“Should we… let the cow try first?” Xu Xiaolan suggested.

Ao Niu’s body shuddered.

“Nah, what if it’s an inheritance sigil? It would get the inheritance instead of us if it received the sigil’s acknowledgment!” An Lin shook his head.

Ao Niu heaved a sigh of relief. “Don’t worry! I won’t even try to compete with you guys! I have zero interest in the sigil, and I’ll just be standing here cheering you guys on!”

Even if this was an inheritance, it was most likely a mythological beast’s inheritance! The inheritance would be way too powerful for it to handle, and it would probably self-detonate!

After encountering An Lin and Xu Xiaolan, Ao Niu had developed an extremely conscious level of self-awareness.

An Lin’s eyes lit up as he thought of a safer course of action.

He made some hand seals, upon which water vapor condensed to materialize another An Lin who had the same aura and appearance as he did.

This was the Water Clone Technique of his Divine Liquid Creation Technique! After attaining the initial success stage of the body of the War God, even his water clone had access to some of his abilities, such as the Divine Inspection Technique.

An Lin planned to let the clone approach the sigil first before unleashing the Divine Inspection Technique to figure out what it was. This was the safest course of action, and he could decide whether he wanted to approach the sigil after his clone figured out what it was first.

“Go on, An Lin Number Two!” An Lin instructed.

An Lin Number Two pursed his lips before silently making his way toward the huge red sigil.

This sigil was comparatively tiny relative to the gigantic bird, but it was huge to An Lin and the others. At the very least, it was many times larger than a fully grown man.

An Lin Number Two slowly approached the sigil on the bird’s chest. He then extended his hands forward and made contact with the sigil, upon which his eyes turned snowy white.
