Chapter 13: Shina shines (1)

"I have to go; bye, auntie and Allan," Anna made a funny face at me while she was walking to school.

I wave back at her as well while observing her enter her school.

I begin waiting a few minutes later to arrive at my school when anna gets off to go to the car.

"Sigh, we've arrived at last." 

"You want to go to school that much? It seems like something is waiting for you to meet." Mom asked such a concern

I really don't want to go to school because I just want to stay at home, but there is something I need to meet.

"I just want to have friends besides Anna, you know?" 

Mom froze at my response, and it appears that she is unable to understand what I said.

"Do you like any girls, my son?" huh? What is she suddenly saying? Do you think I'll fall in love with a student in fifth grade?

I really want to tell her that, but if I do, I might go into trouble.

"No, I don't. I simply want to create friends with no ill will, like a best friend who will always be by my side."

Mom abruptly stops the car in front of the school and appears to be having trouble understanding what I just said.

My mother is completely shocked of what I just stated, and I know she will question me extensively in the future. Let's exit the vehicle swiftly before she gains awareness.

"Bye mum, I'm off to class." I hastily left her after saying goodbye and ran to school.

Now that I'm tired of rushing to school, I'm hot and smelling horrible, so I'm checking every inch of my body for stench.

"Thankfully, I have a backup uniform." I'm fortunate to have a substitute uniform.

I immediately head to the bathroom to change once I've had my uniform in my bag.

then, because I was running late, I went to class.

"Okay, don't forget to say hello to Shina when I get at class so that we can become friends." 

Since hard effort pays off, I suppose I should work even harder.

I enter my classroom, take a seat, and say hello to Shina as usual.

"yo!! good day, Shina! By the way, how was your weekend? I played with my pals last Saturday; it was pretty enjoyable, don't you think? but, you may just ask me and I'll introduce you to other kids if you wish to play with them." I make a lively effort to greet.

"if that's the case, that's terrible. How about if I become your friend instead?" I mentioned this in a lighthearted tone.

"I 'm extremely not in need of friendships." She spoke in a very cold tone.

"really? however, I'm not given up on you."

"Act as you please." Haha, you'll have a lot of friends in the future due of me, and I know you'll be very grateful to it.

I was always by myself as a kid because my parents were always preoccupied with my brother.

but as a result, I constantly strive to do my best in my studies and other activities in order to make my parents proud.

However, my brother consistently outperforms me in school and other areas, so my parents never pay attention to me

six months following the start of my fifth grade year 

My fifth grade class welcomed a new transfer student six months after the start of the school year. He is from the Watanabe group, has a typical face and black hair, but is taller than average and has a standard physical build.

He's more average than I anticipated; perhaps he's just like the nearby kids who avoid me at all costs.

yet it appears that I was mistaken about this boy.

I assumed he was exactly like the other kids, but that is not at all the case.

He continues to greet me in the morning even after I insulted him and ignored him.

He continues to meet me and speak to me every day even though it has been several months. At first, I believed he was merely forging a connection with me by being friendly.

but the way that he looks at me with genuine friendliness in his eyes, It sways the unfavorable thoughts I have about him.

and one day he greets me once more, and I nod in return.

"hehe" and he gives me a vile smirk in response.

I admire the way this guy is trying to make friends with me even if it seems like he truly annoys me.
