Chapter 10 – Be Responsible

Sheng Mingzhi found this topic unbearable to talk about.

He simply kept his mouth shut and didn’t speak again all the way back to One XiShan.

When he got home, Lu Jiayan received a call from the office and went straight to his study to attend to business.

Sheng Mingzhi is not surprised that this workaholic has managed to find time to pick him up today.

As far back as Sheng Mingzhi can remember, Lu Jiayan seems to have been very busy.

As an adult, I was busy with infighting with my own brother and working. As a youngster, I was busy studying and attending various elite trainings in my spare time.

He said he grew up with him, but Sheng Mingzhi didn’t see him very often before.

The only time I saw him was when he was out with Sheng Xu, and his brother was leading him and Sheng Xue, like two little oil draggers.

The Sheng family consisted of three children, Sheng Xu as the eldest, and Sheng Mingzhi and Sheng Xue as twins.

Five years younger than Sheng Xu, Sheng Mingzhi remembers his teenage years without parental involvement and was basically brought up by Sheng Xu.

Probably Lu Jiayan was also annoyed with him at the time, and they all kind of looked down on kids in high school – because they wouldn’t let school kids in when they went to karaoke and drank.

Sheng Mingzhi gritted his teeth and was so angry that he almost threw two punches at the air.

Lu Jiayan was a popular student, with good grades and a schoolboy, but he was also a popular personality, surrounded by all kinds of friends.

Lu Jiayan was always the most popular figure in the school, whether it was with the best students in the school or with his brother Sheng Xu, the school bully.

Even though he was a schoolboy at the time, he could still tell this from the gifts and love letters Lu Jiayan received every Christmas.

At that time, Lu Jiayan was rumoured to be the most popular girl in the school, and even the primary school had heard about her.

To be honest, Sheng Mingzhi didn’t see himself marrying Lu Jiayan in the future, or rather, he didn’t even think that he would end up with Lu Jiayan.

It’s simply outrageous his mother opens the door to outrageousness, outrageous to the core.

Sheng Mingzhi shakes his head off, dismissing the old story from his memory.

When he came out of the shower, the light in the study was still on, and Sheng Mingzhi’s steps paused for a moment before he walked slowly into his bedroom.

In three years of marriage, the two have not slept in the same bed.

Not in the past, and probably not in the future, so I guess I’ll just get by in my next life.

Sheng Mingzhi Lying in bed, I somehow thought of the time when I was first married.

Lu Jiayan’s marriage to the Sheng family was purely to use the Sheng family’s power to suppress his brother Lu Xiao.

Sheng Mingzhi is undoubtedly the perfect candidate for marriage.

Lu Jiayan was handsome and rich, and Sheng Mingzhi was not really interested in girls, so they hit it off and spent three years together.

Having not slept together for three years, Sheng Mingzhi began to wonder if Lu Jiayan had some functional problem or something to hide.

He wasn’t bad looking, didn’t the other guy have any ideas at all?

Wait, why does he feel his pride has been insulted?!

But it’s also scary to have ideas.

If Lu Jiayan insists on sleeping with him, he will sue the old man for marital rape. Rape.

However, it is not expected to be possible.

Lu Jiayan is the kind of man who looks like a svelte loser and sexually frigid.

Even if one strips naked and sits on his lap this old dog than has only the next quarterly statement in mind, belonging to the contemporary Cyber Monk.

Probably by the time he had secured his position at Lu family, their marriage had almost come to an end.

Sheng Mingzhi was too lazy to think about the future, so he rolled over in bed and picked up his phone to brush up on his friends for a while.

After switching to the chat page, the chat box with Lu Jiayan popped into view.

Sheng Mingzhi clicked on the message by mistake, subconsciously nibbled on his nails and pondered: he should still be awake?

The light in the study is still on and Sheng Mingzhi dwells on the bed for a moment, remembering that Lu Jiayan had come to pick him up from work in the afternoon.

He’s not delayed at work because he came to pick him up from work, is he?

So why did he come to pick himself up from work?

Sheng Mingzhi turned over again and found a new problem plaguing him.

He didn’t include the requirement to pick him up from work in the marriage contract.

Sheng Mingzhi thought about it, but couldn’t come up with a reason, but he was in a much better mood.

The dog man, who has only been married for three years, has become slightly more enlightened and knows how to take care of his lover. I must say that this is the biggest improvement in the history of their plastic marriage, and at least Sheng Mingzhi finally doesn’t find the business alliance so annoying.

A few moments later, Sheng Mingzhi rolls out of bed and sits up, jogging all the way downstairs to the centre island.

Opening the fridge, he kindly warmed a glass of milk, ready to show his thoughtfulness and gratitude, and sent it to Lu Jiayan in his study. So that he too would know that he was not a heartless man.

After tossing and turning for a while, Sheng Mingzhi kicks off to the study in his slippers.

The villa was so quiet that Sheng Mingzhi could even hear the man’s voice on the other end of the line.

It is his brother Sheng Xu.

Sheng Mingzhi glanced at his watch.

A phone call at 12 o’clock in the morning? A bizarre thought resurfaced: Lu Jiayan is not having an affair with his brother, is he?

Shit, was he some kind of retreating stand-in lover?

The scary thing is that the more Sheng Mingzhi thinks about it, the more it makes sense.

How the fuck else could Lu Jiayan have been married to him for three years and not be able to look up to him?

But look up to his brother, that idiot who can’t even look up to him.

Lu Jiayan’s vision is also really scary.

Sheng Mingzhi’s lackadaisical ramblings continued for a while when Sheng Xu’s voice came over the phone.

After a brief business talk, Sheng Mingzhi was mentioned: “How is Mingzhi doing? No trouble for you, right?”

What is it?

Sheng Mingzhi immediately comes forward with an ear to the ground.

Lu Jiayan laughed, seemingly remembering something, and his expression took on a slight smirk: “It’s quite good.”

I can’t believe I didn’t say anything bad about him.

Sheng Mingzhi was a little surprised.

“That’s fine. By the way.” Sheng Xu said on the other end of the phone, “I heard you picked him up from work today? Thanks for your help, the South China Sea project you told me about last time is okay, when are you free to come and sign a contract ……”

Outside the study, Sheng Mingzhi froze for a moment.

He didn’t look back until Lu Jiayan hung up the phone.

There was a string in my brain that felt like it had suddenly been plucked.

Sheng Mingzhi thought sluggishly: So Lu Jiayan had come to pick me up for a project in the South China Sea with my brother, and in this way he was giving the Sheng family a signal of friendship and cooperation.

He said how the dog man had become so proactive, but it turned out that it wasn’t enlightenment, it was a matter of cause.

Sheng Mingzhi It dawned on him that he was still the same exquisite egotistical capitalist vampire, how could this mean monster do anything without benefit?

Sheng Mingzhi’s legs felt sore after standing for too long.

Lu Jiayan also seemed to finally notice someone at the door, and he was slightly surprised: ” Sheng Mingzhi ?”

The door to the study was opened and Sheng Mingzhi was wearing a dark blue silk pyjama top, which made his skin even fairer.

The collarbone depression is very pronounced, resembling a pair of butterflies with wings ready to fly.

Sheng Mingzhi is also carrying a glass of hot milk on a tray in his hand.

Lu Jiayan looks at it for a moment and then suddenly raises his eyebrows, his expression becoming a little more intriguing.

His voice was lazy, “What are you, bringing me a midnight snack?”

Lu Jiayan was a little surprised to learn that, as far as he knew Sheng Mingzhi, the word “considerate” was not part of the little ancestor’s code of life.

It was only in the next second that Sheng Mingzhi seemed to suddenly snap back to attention.

The next thing he heard was Lu Jiayan’s unpleasant tone, and his brain went into overdrive, retorting immediately, “I’m bringing you a midnight snack? You haven’t even fallen asleep yet and you’re dreaming?”

Lu Jiayan clearly didn’t believe him and reached out to point at the milk in his hand.

The peach blossom eyes have a derision that makes one feel very indebted, meaning something.

Sheng Mingzhi : ……

He continued decisively with the retort, “Can’t I serve myself a drink?”

Lu Jiayan says slowly, “Bringing milk to yourself on a tray? That’s quite a ritual you have.”

“Sorry, that’s how ritualistic our post-zero life is. Thanks!” Sheng Mingzhi picked up the milk and pulled out a polite fake smile, with a special emphasis on the tone of the last two words.

Then, in front of Lu Jiayan, he nonchalantly smothered the hot milk in one gulp, gurgling a few times, his cheeks puffing up slightly.

He drank so quickly that some milk stains spilled out of the corner of his mouth.

It falls in Lu Jiayan’s eyes, causing the man’s gaze to pause subtly for a moment.

The knot in his throat rolled briefly, then moved away very gently.

Licking the tip of his tongue over the milk stain, Sheng Mingzhi sneered, “By the way I came to give you a word of warning.”

“Hmm?”

“Don’t stay up late when you’re older.” Sheng Mingzhi looked at the time and said coldly, “Going to bed past eleven o’clock, at your age, you could easily go bald in middle age.”

After that, Sheng Mingzhi left the study with a black face, not caring what Lu Jiayan was about to reply to him.

Footsteps on the ground.

One sound was heavier than the other, as if it was going to stomp through the floor.

This inexplicable temper tantrum was directed at Lu Jiayan, who didn’t even understand what he was angry about again, but only gave a half-hearted laugh afterwards.

No comment on his arrogance.

Back in the bedroom, Sheng Mingzhi pulls up the WeChat list and sends a direct message to Sheng Xu.

[Death to come.]

Sheng Xu : [?

Sheng Xu : [Is this how you speak to your brother?

Sheng Xu : [Look at the seven-digit balance of the bank card in your wallet that originally belonged to your brother and now belongs to you and say it again].

Sheng Mingzhi : [You withdrew a message].

After a moment’s hesitation, Sheng Mingzhi typed: [Did you ask Lu Jiayan to pick me up today?

Sheng Xu : [?

Sheng Xu : [I’m touched. So my persona in your heart is a good brother.

Sheng Mingzhi : [Heh.

Sheng Mingzhi : [He’s been so nice to me lately that he suspects you’ve been giving him too many favours. Be honest, did you give him all of our family’s assets?

Sheng Xu: [Giving you to him was already the most wrong thing I’ve ever done in my life].

Sheng Xu: [Not so much as to send him other things to harm him].

Sheng Mingzhi : [……]

A sudden eerie feeling came over him and he asked tentatively, [What are you doing being so nice to him? You don’t have a crush on him, do you?]

The chat box was half-heartedly untouched.

I don’t know if Sheng Mingzhi’s outrageous question shocked his brother too much, or if his brother’s mind was poked at him for being weak.

Is he really right?

What a thunderous plot.

After a while, Sheng Xu sent a message.

[Sorry, just finished throwing up. There’s no need to insult my character.]

[No one but you would be interested in Lu Jiayan, a conniving dog with a smile on his face.

……

……

He didn’t fancy it either, thanks.

But what do you mean no one but him is looking at it?

Lu Jiayan is still very handsome.

Sheng Mingzhi was a bit offended that his brother could insult his dignity with money, but not his aesthetics.

[Don’t be too much of a hater of dudes.]

Sheng Mingzhi said: [You should face up to your shortcomings in face value].

Sheng Xu : [Don’t we both come from the same gene pool?

Sheng Mingzhi : [So, luckily, your contribution in this gene is heavily involved (soybean thanx)]

After disliking Sheng Xu, Sheng Mingzhi’s mood finally improved a little.

Looking through the chat logs, he suddenly realised that it was not his brother who had asked Lu Jiayan to pick him up.

So had he just, had he misunderstood him? And had thrown a tantrum.

Sheng Mingzhi was inexplicably a little vain, and after a moment’s hesitation, he sent a message to Lu Jiayan in passing.

[.].

[Sleeping?

Only the message was sent to a stone silence.

Sheng Mingzhi didn’t have time to wait for Lu Jiayan’s message before he drifted off to sleep.

He slept until the next morning, when he woke up to a tweet from Lu Jiayan at 8am.

[Slept in last night.]

Sheng Mingzhi completely forgot what she said last night and was quite puzzled: [Sleeping so early?

[Hmm.]

The other party replied back to him: [After all, at my age, I’ll go bald if I sleep late].

At this point in the conversation, Sheng Mingzhi finally remembered what had happened last night.

At the same time, the messages he reads from Lu Jiayan are always odd.

Sheng Mingzhi replied hesitantly: [You didn’t deliberately leave me out of the news all night last night just to get up early in the morning to dislike me, did you?

When you think about it, it’s actually quite possible.

Lu Jiayan is such a small-minded dog.

[Hmm.] Lu Jiayan returned with a straight face: [After all, I was up all night last night because of your words.

Sheng Mingzhi : [……]

Lu Jiayan : [And lost two hairs].

Sheng Mingzhi : [……]

Lu Jiayan : [You are responsible for them].

Sheng Mingzhi : [……]
