Chapter 12 – Showing off your wife

Lu Jiayan looked at him.

Sheng Mingzhi silently averted his eyes.

The living room was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop on the floor.

There was an eerie silence for a while, and finally Lu Jiayan couldn’t hold it in any longer.

The man covered his face and stifled a laugh.

The whole man also sits down smoothly towards the sofa, as if he had no bones, and leans back lazily on it, smiling a little wildly.

Sheng Mingzhi’s ears are gradually reddening, which is particularly noticeable because of his porcelain white skin.

Lu Jiayan laughed for a long time and became more and more arrogant, to the point where he bent over laughing a bit, so much so that Sheng Mingzhi finally couldn’t hold his face.

He turned to Lu Jiayan and his temper was about to flare.

But before he could act out his irritation, he took a wrong glance into Lu Jiayan’s peach blossom eyes, which were always covered with a layer of detachment and now disappeared, adding a touch of tenderness to him.

Sheng Mingzhi froze for a moment, almost falling for the beauty, and hastened to calm down for a second, reasoning, “What’s so funny?”

At the same time, he was speechless with himself for a moment, it’s not like he had never seen Lu Jiayan’s face before, what’s so amazing about it.

Thoughtfully and unconvincingly, he cursed in his mind: male vixen!

Lu Jiayan had laughed enough before he spoke, a hint of laughter still in his tone: “I didn’t find it funny.”

A ghost wouldn’t believe it if it came out.

He paused and teased, “I just didn’t expect you to grow up and understand one day.”

Sheng Mingzhi : ……

Treating who like a child?

He gritted his back teeth and grinned back, “Don’t be too impressed. It’s only right for me to be filial to my elders.”

Sheng Mingzhi disliked him as he rummaged through the bag of luxury goods, which was laid out in a dazzling array.

Lu Jiayan ignored Sheng Mingzhi’s attack on his age and lifted a flamboyant and rock ‘n’ roll skull necklace with a raised eyebrow: “Is this a tribute to your elders?”

Sheng Mingzhi was stunned and cursed Qiao Yan’s rubbish aesthetic, how could this strange killer necklace be mixed in?

Look at the look on Lu Jiayan’s dog-man’s face, as if he’s already mocking his aesthetic.

“Oh. It’s all the rage now.” Sheng Mingzhi forced a reversal of black and white and said without changing his face, “Don’t you think it suits you, it’ll help you age and fit perfectly into the world of young people?”

“Age reduction?” Lu Jiayan gave a little chuckle, “Life expectancy reduction, I guess.”

He chuckles lightly and shakes his head, the style of the accessories on the tabletop not at all like Sheng Mingzhi’s everyday style.

After all, even if this little ancestor wants to take a bite of a vegetable, he has to pick the long, beautiful leaves.

Of course, Lu Jiayan didn’t ask him what he had gotten himself into by buying a bunch of ugly things for the house. All we can say is that Sheng Mingzhi would never have wanted to buy such ugly things of his own volition.

The man puts down the ‘age-defying’ skull necklace in his hand and prepares to go upstairs to wash up.

The next moment, Sheng Mingzhi suddenly called out to him, “Wait.”

What do you mean, Lu Jiayan is just going to leave?

Sheng Mingzhi was a little uncomfortable, after all, there was a tie in there that he had actually taken the trouble to pick out.

He hesitated for a moment, muttering and speaking, “…… you didn’t see any of them?”

Lu Jiayan casually scanned the table, and apart from the tie, the rest were really ugly.

He spoke slowly, coolly, “I want to live a few more years in dignity.”

Sheng Mingzhi : ……

You are dead.

Sheng Mingzhi thought to himself that he had a brain fart to buy a tie for Lu Jiayan, an old dog.

What kind of tie does he wear? All he deserves is to hang himself with a piece of twine around his neck!

For the next three days, Sheng Mingzhi did not say another word to Lu Jiayan.

He had a few announcements to catch up on and flew to Yangcheng to record a variety show for four days. In addition, Sheng Mingzhi’s role in a web drama was not important, but he had to work with the crew to promote it.

Sheng Mingzhi has one thing going for him, although his young master’s temper really doesn’t lend itself to the entertainment industry.

But he takes his job seriously – seriously and pasty, the harder he tries the more unlucky he is.

After a week, Lu Jiayan finally came to his senses and remembered that he hadn’t seen the youngest member of his family for a long time.

It was suddenly a little uncomfortable to have one less sparrow chattering in one’s ear.

Lu Jiayan was about to send a WeChat message when he realised he had been blackballed.

……

It was very sudden.

A few moments later, Lu Jiayan stared at the red exclamation mark in the WeChat box, rubbed his brow and called Yao Shen in.

“Go check Second Younger’s spending records at YunTing Mansion a week ago.”

Not long after the order was given, a copy of the surveillance video was handed to Lu Jiayan.

Since Yao Shen’s last major work mistake, he has become more and more careful and attentive to his boss’s demands, not only bringing Lu Jiayan the CCTV footage, but also describing everything that happened that day in graphic detail.

How Sheng Mingzhi saw the tie, how Qiao Yan provoked it, and how the former bought all the ugly things he saw in a fit of rage.

At the end, Yao Shen was so absorbed that he said, “Qiao Yan is not worthy of being compared to the second youngest, he doesn’t even look at himself in the mirror.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Yao Shen looked at his boss and realised that he had made a mistake.

Fortunately, Lu Jiayan was thoughtful and did not refute his remark.

Yao Shen sighed with relief: it seems that Mr. Lu agrees with him!

The YunJing news that Mr. Lu and the second young man have agreed to get married is really a rumor.

After a long time, Lu Jiayan spoke up: “You said Sheng Mingzhi picked out a tie by hand?”

Yao Shen nodded, “It seems to have been bought for you.”

A brief silence fell in the President’s Office.

It was as if certain people suddenly realised the reason for being pulled over.

After a long time, Lu Jiayan spoke indifferently: “Before the reporters from Southwest Finance come to interview me this afternoon, prepare a new set of formal clothes for me.”

Yao Shen nodded hastily, and suddenly he sensed something.

Blessedly, he spoke up, “Mr. Lu, do you need a tie or a lapel pin?”

” Didn’t Sheng Mingzhi buy a tie and leave it at home.” Lu Jiayan closed the file and said, as if nothing had happened, “That’s it.”

South West Finance is now the most authoritative financial magazine in the country.

Founded in 1946, it has a deep cultural heritage and a strong background of strength.

A month before Lu Jiayan’s return to China, he was approached by the editor-in-chief of Southwest Finance to get his first exclusive interview in the country.

A solo panel as the cover of the magazine at the end of the year.

Lu Jiayan had no reason to say no to the offer, which was a demonstration of his prestige in the domestic capital market.

Interviewing Lu Jiayan was Qiao Yu, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Southwest Finance.

The interview was forty minutes long and Qiao Yu was fully prepared before she arrived. She started revising her questions and script a month ago in order to get the opportunity to interview Lu Jiayan, and she prepared until 1am every day, mimicking all kinds of unexpected situations and rhetorical questions by heart.

As the youngest ever female deputy editor of Southwest Finance, Qiao Yu is surprisingly young at just under 30 years old.

It is for this reason that she is extra careful not to make any mistakes in her work so as not to be caught out.

However, she was briefly lost in thought for a moment when she first saw Lu Jiayan.

Lu Jiayan’s name is a well-known one in the financial world, but he has been living abroad for years, so few people have seen him in person. Qiao Yu also took a chance and googled Lu Jiayan’s photos before interviewing him, but apart from a blurred image of his back at the wedding of the century with MingChen Bank’s youngest son, he was almost invisible.

She never imagined that Sheng Jia’s current ruler would be so young and so handsome.

It’s like the president from a romance novel come to life.

After a few seconds of dumbfounded silence, Qiao Yu came back to her senses after the Secretary General’s introduction, a blush flashing across her face.

She soon adjusted to the interview and got into the swing of things.

Lu Jiayan’s interview is divided into three parts.

The first two were business-like, with questions focusing on Sheng Jia’s future market development and content layout, including but not limited to internal reform and transformation. The questions and responses had already gone through Qiao Yu’s mind a million times, so the first half hour of the interview went smoothly and flew by in a serious and tense atmosphere.

The remaining ten minutes of the interview are more life-like and are basically focused on Lu Jiayan personally.

Of course, it is said to be a specific private matter, but it has been strictly modified by Sheng Jia’s administrative office. After all, in Lu Jiayan’s position, it would be impossible to put his truly private life on display.

Towards the end of the interview, Lu Jiayan was polite and refined from start to finish, but the aura of intimidation between his words was undiminished and remained detached.

Perhaps it was his gentle and introverted nature that gave Qiao Yu the illusion that she was subconsciously speaking, “We understand that you were married to the youngest son of MingChen Bank three years ago, would you care to share with us a little about your love and family?”

Lu Jiayan’s eyebrows raised slightly when the question was posed.

This question was just outside the outline of the interview.

When Qiao Yu said it, he was a bit surprised.

But the questions are not more than that, and even if Lu Jiayan refuses to answer them, it won’t make much difference. Of course, if he had been willing to answer, this would have been the final touch to this interview.

The only answer to Qiao Yu’s question was Lu Jiayan’s ten-second-long silence.

The first second of Lu Jiayan’s silence, Qiao Yu felt that he had said the wrong thing, and a cold sweat suddenly drenched his back.

Just as the low pressure in the parlour had burned to the point where Qiao Yu couldn’t hold out any longer.

Lu Jiayan speaks carelessly.

” Ms. Qiao .” His voice was still low, “Do you think my tie looks good today.”

Qiao Yu was stunned, not expecting such a bullheaded reply from Lu Jiayan.

So much so that her mind went blank for a split second, completely missing how to answer.

What do you mean?

…… I can’t tell that you’re still a beauty lover, Mr. Lu?

The next moment, Lu Jiayan gave a soft laugh.

For the first time since the interview, Qiao Yu sees a completely unguarded smile on this man’s face, even without him noticing the slight indulgence he brings to it, and says slowly and deliberately.

“My lover gave it to me.”

……

……

Qiao Yu : ……

It was an illusion, wasn’t it? Why did she somehow hear a bit of a dejected and braggadocious tone?
