Regaining his composure, Cyclo tells Mist to check his next skill.
“The Restoration Magic aside. Let’s check the skills first. Mist, are those all the skills you have?”
“No–there are two more.”
I knew it, Cyclo thinks.
Even saints have four usable skills. In contrast, Mist has five. And at this point, all of the skills are as effective as or more effective than the saints.
I wonder what is “Wicked Believer” about this, but now is not the time to be talking about it.
“Let’s see what the fourth skill is, then.”
“Yes, master.”
And so, Mist put magic power into the next skill.
Then–immediately a divine light spreads around Mist, and the whole room begins to shine.
“Uwah!? What is this!?”
“Um, I’m sorry, Master! As soon as I poured magic power into the skill, it immediately activated.”
Then, that’s an active skill, Cyclo realizes.
“Mist. A skill that is activated as soon as magic is applied to it is called an active skill. The effect differs depending on the type, but in some cases, like in this case, the effect is immediate and like magic.”
In contrast to active skills, skills that are activated once and remain active at all times are called passive skills.
While active skills automatically end their activation when their effects end, passive skills, once activated, remain active at all times until they are intentionally turned off.
Magical aptitude skills also fall under this category of passive skills. Once activated, the magic aptitude skill is always in a state where the magic corresponding to the aptitude can be used until the effect is cut off.
“I-I’m sorry ……”
Mist nods in remorse.
Cyclo rushes to follow up.
“Don’t worry about it, Mist! I let you activate your skill because I knew I could follow through no matter what. Besides, this skill doesn’t seem like the kind of skill that would have an offensive effect.”
“…… Yes. If it’s its effect, I kind of know what it is. There is a sense that it is increasing my and Master’s abilities. Conversely, I also have the sense that it might decrease the abilities of others.”
The effect of the effect is finally understood by Cyclo.
“I see …… perhaps it’s a skill that simultaneously deploys a buff to allies and a debuff to enemies.”
