After Gui Bin finished speaking on some conjectures made by researchers, he pressed the mouse again to resume the paused video.
Centered within the screen was Marches giving a lecture within the mysterious classroom.
“As the principal of San Soliel School of Magic, I will first give you a lesson that is also the foundation for casting spells!
In the video, nearly two hundred males and females straightened their backs and placed their hands on the table. They looked like elementary school students who had just enrolled and did not dare make noise for fear of the teacher. Everyone had an excited face as they listened to each and every word of the old mage in front of them.
“First, I will explain the types of spells as well as the basic principles in casting them…”
“After a long history of development, spells are now divided into eight major categories: protection systems, conjuration systems, prophetic systems, enchantment systems, invocation systems, illusion systems, necromancy systems, and transformation systems. In addition to these, there are universal spells, but universal spells are actually very profound and involve magical constancy, magic control, and prayers. They are also called prayer spells. This is not something you apprentices can understand for now.”
Marches paused for a moment. After watching the apprentices pen his words quickly in their notebooks, he nodded with satisfaction.
“Next, I will explain the characteristics of each major system. Conjuration spells can be divided into five steps. The first is [summoning], which is to call forth otherworldly creatures. Next is [create] which is the ability to control objects. After that is [medication], which is the ability to heal and revive creatures. And finally [recall], which is the exact opposite of [summoning]. Instead of calling forth other creatures, it is used to repatriate them. Finally, there is teleportation which is the ability to change your position from a short distance away to even across the galaxy…”
“……”
Standing on the podium of the classroom, Marches spoke eloquently in a humorous and wonderful tone. Although he did not explain how to release magic, he depicted a profound system with his simple words.
When he used plain language to break down the eight schools of San Soliel in detail, everyone listened with rapt attention.
“Galactic travel? Is it really galactic travel? Just learn magic and you can travel the galaxies?!”
“Reviving creatures? Isn’t that the power of a god? Can the dead truly come back with the power of magic?”
“Coach, I want to learn necromancy! I want to be a necromancer!”
“666666, this is really unheard of. This video is really teaching how to become a mage. I thought wizards need to be 30-year-old virgins.”
Various pop-ups filled the screen while Gui Bin and the others were also discussing intensely.
“The conjuration system involves quite a lot of aspects. If it has the power to revive creatures, wouldn’t reviving people be possible? Moreover, there’s even magic that could allow galactic travel. We may have to change our thinking regarding these mages. They may be killable by modern weapons, but they have mastered certain spells that far exceed our level of technology.”
“Do you guys think teleportation magic can transfer some objects? Does this mean that we don’t have to use technology to perform interstellar travel? Couldn’t we use magic and science to create a spaceship that travels through the galaxy?”
“The prophecy system sounds a bit troublesome. It’s surprising that they can also predict the future. Doesn’t this mean that powerful mages who master it can’t be stopped?”
“The enchantment and illusion systems are the most dangerous. We must pay more attention. If a mage were to use these spells to control the top level of the government, it could bring disaster to a country.”
“The invocation system sounds similar to our understanding of traditional magic, like creating fireballs, lightning, and so on…”
“Necromancy also sounds good. It’s simply communicating with the dead and dealing with corpses. It’s more like biology… but the transformation system is a bit strange. I thought that it was the ability to change the form of human beings, but from the explanation of the archmage, it seemed that it’s the power to change the attributes and environment.”
“Everyone be quiet. This mage is explaining the power of prayers… So it’s like that. It’s a spell to pray to the gods by way of faith.”
“……”
The members discussed fiercely. There was vague excitement in their words, but what they discussed was mainly the benefits and dangers that these spells posed to the country. After some discussion, they found that the mages who took the enchantment and illusion systems were the ones that needed the most attention. The spells that controlled humans were too much for ordinary people.
“There are many different spells, and these spells are also created by previous mages. When you become an archmage, you will also be able to create your own spells.”
“But I want to warn everyone that not everyone will be able to learn everything. The amount of knowledge involved in just a single major system is too great. Only those legendary mages who can leave their names in history had been able to master multiple schools. As for you apprentices, you have to choose one or two of them to learn according to your own talent.”
“One last thing. I will caution everyone that magic is a god-given ability. We are not so much learning how to use magic as we are gaining the supernatural ability to communicate with the gods. So everyone present must start believing in the gods today.”
“It doesn’t matter which god you believe in, but only those who believe can truly learn magic, while those who do not will never understand the true meaning of spells!”
As the mage finished speaking, not only the apprentices in the mage tower but also the many elites who were studying from the video were stunned.
Gui Bin and the team leader stood up from their seats. Their eyes were filled with horror. The old man spoke without much force, but they, who knew a lot of secrets, were immensely surprised at his words.
For example, the mage said that ‘no matter which god they believed in’. Wouldn’t this mean that ‘magic’ was something that all gods agreed on and gave together to teach mortals?
But from the old alchemist, they concluded that there was hostility among the gods and that the cultural circles were the root of it. Moreover, the word ‘magic’ did not match eastern culture, so why would Eastern gods allow the existence of magic and support it?
The braining Gui Bin even thought that this might be a conspiracy among the gods, but on second thought, he felt that it wasn’t 100% accurate. Gods seemed like they didn’t care about mortals. Whether it was Christ or the Torch Dragon, they both seemed like they didn’t care about humans.
After all, according to the Christian canon, humans were just flocks of lambs in front of gods.
Gui bin already had a vague guess of the effects of the old mage’s words. That was, the vast majority of people on Earth would choose a god as their faith, regardless of whether they could really master the mysteries of magic, everyone would probably try.
As for which gods people would believe in, the vast majority would probably believe in their own culture’s deities.
“Is this… is this the war between the gods?”
Gui Bin suppressed that vague sense of excitement as if he saw a magnificent divine war that the gods of the many divine systems in the east and west were fighting with faith as pawns.
