Chapter 9: Nulling

After I took a bath for like hours of cleaning out of disgust, feeling my whole body exhausted, I tried taking a rest for a moment inside my tent. I could feel an excruciating pain all over my body from exhaustion as I was waiting for Valentina to call her father from an item that her father gifted to her.

Back at the time while we were walking to the camp, she immediately told me that she will call her father using the gift she was presented with, she was worried that I would change my mind soon and tried to make it faster by calling her father through a stone.

I even felt my heart getting torn apart as I saw her act like that, but I didn't mind. Because I know that this feeling would disappear soon if time passed. Just like how I was broken in the past, I needed time to recover from this too.

And the stone/item that I'm talking about is called, Gemini Stone.

These are a pair of stones that is unique and one stone can connect to only its counterpart. It's quite the expensive one.

But her father can't talk at the moment because he's busy with work.

However, soon a female maid went inside my tent.

It was Mary, she then called me out and told me that Valentina is looking for me.

.

.

.

As I went inside Valentina's tent, I could already see the hologram of a middle-aged man with a youthful appearance.

It was no other than Valentina's father.

His hair was blonde with blue eyes, just like in the game, he is a good-looking man. Probably much better in person. He had the same face as Valentina but was much older and had the face of a man.

"I heard you're nulling the engagement?"

Valentina's father, or in short, Victor Lopez, finally spoke with a deep voice.

Compared to Antelmo's voice and his, I felt nothing, however, I took my words seriously and said them carefully.

"Yes, Patriarch! I am.

And I will be sure to talk this out with my father."

I elegantly bowed as I spoke with a solemn tone.

Victor's left eyebrow then slightly rose from my immediate response and asked.

"Why?"

"I was too naive to realize this, but I hurt Valentina without me knowing by trying to express my love for her.

But I was enlightened that no matter how much I struggle, and show my love for her. We will never move forward.

I loved her.

So it's better to go our separate ways, or else we'll only hurt each other..."

I said nonchalantly but inside, I was being torn apart by each word I uttered. However, I still continued,

"I assume that as a father, you'll choose your daughter to be happy rather than some interest?

Don't worry, I'll talk with my father regarding this matter and not further the complication."

I knew Victor in the game, he cares deeply for Valentina and just accepted the offer that a neighboring territory offered. Because he thought that it would strengthen their power and thought that maybe Alfonso and Valentina will fall in love with each other. However, he will not hesitate to agree to what would Valentina like. Even if that is nulling the engagement.

Unfortunately, Valentina never said a word about the arranged marriage, for the love of her father. She chose to not retaliate so as to please him. And for the better of their people.

She didn't want to burden her father when he is already tired from everyday work.

"..."

Victor then turned silent from my response, he then looked at Valentina and asked.

"Do you agree?"

"Yes, father!"

Valentina immediately responded. My heart trembled once again, and I'm now totally broken inside.

I felt sad and horrible that Valentina immediately agreed, I felt Alfonso's sorrow. But I suppressed the emotions that were surging out of my chest as I bit my lip.

Soon Victor spoke again,

"I see..."

He said as if he realized something and looked at me,

"I'll be coming home soon, I'll be talking this out with your father then."

With his words, he soon said his farewell and got back to work.

While Valentina went toward me, wanting to thank me for keeping my words but before she could speak. I stopped her with my hand gesture and immediately went out of her tent.

Dazed by my actions, she flinched a little that I seem to not even care about her. Seemingly hurt her pride.

"Did it make him not like me anymore because of what I said last week? Isn't he changing so fast...?

Still, it's better this way." She muttered and went on with her night with Christine who witnessed the events unfolding in her eyes happily.

But they didn't know that a certain knight was grinning meticulously.

………

As I stepped out of the tent, I saw Mary guarding and using her ability. She then stared into my eyes but I didn't pay any heed to her as I continued to walk toward my tent.

"Don't follow me," I ordered Mary and she halted her steps. Understanding what I meant.

"As you wish my Lord."

I then continued walking toward my tent. However, I didn't go inside my tent but went toward a lake that was just near my tent.

I quickly noticed the dazzling full moon. Its reflection glimmering at the lake making my mind at peace and connected with nature.

I wanted to be alone to calm my mind for a moment.

Sighing inwardly as I explored the emotions I'm feeling.

‹Devastated and broken...› I thought when I understood my feelings or to be precise, Alfonso's feelings.

Soon, I pondered some wise words.

‹Sometimes, it's better to let go than hang on.›

.

.

.

Tap

A sound of footsteps coming from my back sounded. Breaking the silence that gave me comfort.

I slowly glanced at the guy that approached me and saw Kevin with a huge grin on his face.

"Looks like you are tired of proving yourself to her." Scoffed Kevin.

While I felt my blood boil in an instant when I saw his fucking face.

I wanted to shove a sword onto his mouth and make him gargle his balls.

But I stayed calm as best as I could and looked at Kevin in silence,

‹Why the hell is this guy talking to me?›

I pondered but I thought that Kevin only sees Alfonso as trash that doesn't deserve Valentina. And as a friend, he wanted to show him how worthless of a guy is Alfonso.

But that didn't stop me from feeling uncomfortable toward him. Because I know the face of a person who always wears a mask.

I didn't know much about Valentina's knight friend called Kevin. Since they were just depicted as good friends. That's why it intrigued me.

‹Maybe this guy being killed by Alfonso had a deeper meaning to it?› I questioned inside.

But I soon shook my head and asked Kevin coldly, "Why are you here?"

However, Kevin didn't respond and only smiled. As if he will be found out if he spoke a word.

Feeling my blood boiling again, I soon started walking and passed through him.

"Get the fuck away from me, creep!" I muttered as I continued in my tent. I wanted to rest already after such an exhausting day.

But as I walked, I'm introduced to Mary that's already standing in front of my tent. Expecting my arrival, she stood there to guard me in advance.

I soon went inside and rolled over the bed.

My eyes were heavy at the time I rested my body. Without me noticing it. I quickly fell asleep from exhaustion.
