(Mary's side)

Alfonso was staring at Mary in deep thought while Mary raised her eyebrows in confusion.

‹Young Lord Alfonso has been acting weird lately after what happened last week. Did it really make him reflect on that time?› Mary asked inside her head.

‹It's quite surprising but Alfonso even dare touch a maid earlier,

After watching him for years growing up, he never touched a commoner ever since the day that an incident happened 3 years ago...› Mary then clenched her jaw after she recalled that horrible memory of that day, even to this day it brings her horror just thinking about it, her eyes filled with guilt, and soon she immediately shrugged it off.

‹Or probably he thought of the maid as beautiful? No... I don't think Young Lord is like that... Especially not if he is so dead over heels for Valentina. In fact, Valentina is much more beautiful. I think...› Mary pondered, But as she was in her own world of her head.

Alfonso turned his gaze out the window with awe.

Meanwhile, Mary who was watching Alfonso look around in astonishment, her eyes flinched a little, and suddenly remembered that he once looked like that as a kid.

When Alfonso was seven, the two of them used to sneakily go out at night since his father didn't want him outside if Alfonso did not meet his father's expectations. He was a curious and innocent child after all...

That's why even though Alfonso was maintaining a sophisticated look, she can see in her eyes that he was delighted.

‹Now that I think about it... Alfonso no longer gazed out of his window while riding in the carriage. Nor did he try to go out anymore like a curious little child.

Always in his room alone, and trying his best to live up to his father's expectation.› She pondered deeply with a faint sadness but soon a slight smile followed.

‹At least he's starting to find happiness again...›

Looking back, it's been a long time since Alfonso looked happy, even though it was not visible to the eyes of the others, except for Mary who raised Alfonso. Even his blood-related father would not notice it since he wouldn't even care if he is happy. He would only care if his son was an interesting one, someone that could fit his ridiculously high standards. But that care only exists because he needs someone to continue his bloodline or he needs to protect the one who'll continue their legacy.

‹Perhaps Young Lord Alfonso is starting to change.› Mary thought, she doesn't know why. But when she saw Alfonso not shout in anger today toward the new maid that stumbled in front of Alfonso, Mary's instincts were telling her that Alfonso is starting to change.

Because usually, Alfonso would shout at the maids around him if they ever made mistakes because of his extreme perfectionism and even kick them out immediately, or hurt them... but today, Alfonso didn't do any of that. He even helped the maid.

‹Maybe the word of Young Lady Valentina last week made an impact on him.› Thought Mary in silence. But she was not that naive to see him change that quickly, so she still had some lingering doubts, so as to not be let down. That's why she decided for now to observe him.

But when Alfonso finally turned his gaze back at her, she realized that she was still faintly smiling.

She then immediately eradicated that smile.

But her heart pounded when Alfonso just stared at him with silence and surprise in his eyes.

However, that moment got destroyed when they finally halted in front of a wealthy-looking mansion.

[It was Valentina's home]
