Chapter 79: Air Temple Island(11)

The other teams left and I remained with Lin. There wasn't much to do so I started to meditate. Ever since the incident at the police station I've been trying to grasp that hidden power inside of me. I didn't know what I was feeling but I knew the energy started from my heart, but the more I practiced the more pathways for the energy inside my body I found. After a week of uncovering pathways, I found that those pathways were my meridians, the same ones that benders use in order to bend.

When I found out I was over the moon since I've always wanted to be a bender, now the problem was what kind of bender I was but since I couldn't bend any of the basic four elements and I couldn't make the smallest change to the outside with my energy I decided to get a better grasp of my power before I did anything.

The good thing was that now that I discovered all the energy pathways I had an insatiable feeling of wanting more energy to circulate so I started to clear up my meridians. It was a shot in the dark at first since I had no idea how to do it but low and behold 'limbo state' came to the rescue once again. With 'limbo state' I could focus my energy on the impurities and wash them away. At first, the difference couldn't be seen since it was a monumental task to get rid of the smallest impurities but in a week or so I could feel my body becoming stronger although not by much, as I cleaned the impurities.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm meditating Meelo, it's a very calming experience."

"I find it boring, come on and play with me."

"I agree with the kid, I have always found meditating a waste of time."

"Oh, is that so? Why is that Lin?"

"I simply find it useless, it has no real help in battle, it's too hard to get into and it doesn't have many applications in day-to-day life."

"Hahaha!"

"Why are you laughing?"

"You've been with Tenzin for a long time in the past and he didn't bother to teach you or at least tell you the advantages?"

"He told me alright! All that calming your mind and soul crap!"

"Haaaa, as expected of Tenzin only seeing the spiritual aspect of things. Meditating is a very useful way to train, if you achieve a certain level you can rewatch fight in your mind to see where you might need to improve, it also helps with the pain, increasing your pain tolerance to another level, and helps you remain centered in unpredictable situations. Although what I can't refute is that is hard at the start."

"If a training fanatic and genius like you finds it hard then what chance do I have."

She shrugs and goes away to talk help Pema taking Meelo with her so that I return to what I've been doing.

Since cleaning my meridians would take a while and I thought it would be best to have another trump card just in case I stared with my eyes and brain meridians. I didn't have any need for more power since I had enough thanks to the suit, the only things that could tip the scales in a battle at a high level were reflexes and perception. In a dangerous situation what made the difference between life and death was a slip second, sometimes even less.

I stayed in the lotus position for some time and I would gladly have stayed more if the city didn't start to feel like a battlefield.

*Rumble* *Rumble*

Comotion could be heard from all over the city as zeppelins with the Equalists symbol soared in the sky above the city.

"Aunty Pema take the kids and leave the White Lotus and we will hold them back as you escape."

One of the people from White Lotus grabbed her prepared to leave when suddenly the baby started to move. Seeing this I started to curse in my mind at God for making my life so difficult.

I hurry to our room and take my sniper and three pistols, a few explosives, and the remote for all the explosives I hid all over the Island.

On the way back to the courtyard I take an air acolyte robe and put it on. Today I'm not fighting for what's right I'm fighting for my family.

I get back and all of the White Lotus members are standing neatly in two lines on each side. Their commanding officer before me and bows.

"What are your orders, sir?"

I look around and I see the fear in their eyes, if this was like in the anime it wouldn't be such a problem but with my involvement and with the apparition of the angels things have started to shift in favor of Amon. Now I couldn't have that, could I?

"Are you bender?"

"Yes sir..."

"Lauder!"

"YES SIR!"

"ARE YOU ALL MEMBERS OF THE WHITE LOTUS?"

"YES SIR!"

"I don't think so! Being part of the White Lotus means you are part of something bigger than the place you came from. The moment you join you stop being just an earth bender or a fire bender or a water bender, you become guardians of balance, of peace.

Now the enemy is knocking at the door wanting to destroy our hard-earned peace. Not too long ago the Hundred Year War ended and they want to start another one. This time it isn't like last time. The people that are coming here, well, they despise you, they are afraid of you, why? Because you have something they don't, bending.

They want to come here, on this sacred island, and take the one thing that makes you who you are, that one thing that's as precious as your life, your bending.

Make no mistake, they have come here to snuff out the last ambers of the air nomads' culture, if they succeed today what stops them from continuing with the other elements?

We are stoping them! Today we aren't fighting to protect an island, today we are fighting to protect our culture, our way of life, our children's way of life.

So have no mercy because they won't!

May the spirits have mercy upon them, because we won't!"
