As I walked out of the noisy square and went into the alley, the festival’s uproar faded away a little by little.

The buzzing voices of the people and the enthusiastic music were harmoniously blended together, creating a pleasant noise.

As expected, the festival feels good just by enjoying the atmosphere.

‘The problem is that the dress she picked up is small.’

Emma dressed me carefully, but the winter breeze that didn’t go away was still cold. I was trembling.

As I curled up my body to endure the cold, Harry stared at me. There was a look of wonder in his eyes.

“You seem so weak. Shivering in this cold.”1

“I’m not weak Harry, I’m extremely strong.”

“No matter how much I look around, no one is shaking like you.”

Harry looked at the people passing by and sneered.

As he said, the people of Erell were walking in the street with nonchalant faces, even dressed in lighter clothes than me.2

“I was right that you’re too weak.”

That’s how Harry concluded that way.

I agreed from the bottom of my heart.

‘Well, Yvesria is not that strong. ‘

She was not a fragile woman who easily collapsed but as a noble lady who didn’t experiece training during her life, she was below average in physical stregth.

Harry, who had been observing me for a while, took off his coat and put it on my shoulder.3

‘This is an another unexpected manner.’

I opened my eyes narrowly and looked at Harry.

“Why do you look at me like that? Like I did something bad.”

“I’ve heard that I should be careful of a demon’s favor.”

“My favor is fine.”

“Why?”

“I’m your demon. Loyal in body and mind.”3

‘What loyalty?’

A demon could not have such a concept.

‘If it’s a demon that entice people with good words, it’s truly a demon.’

I grinned and hugged Harry’s coat tightly.

Harry’s sugarcoating doesn’t help much, but Harry’s coat certainly does.

“What did you do with the Roytz’ crumbs?”1

Harry’s voice sounded so hostile.2

‘Not long before, he said he like strong people.’

A demon’s whim was really difficult to forge a direction.

“What would we have done? We just walked around awkwardly and watched the festival.”

“That’s all?”1

Harry looks at me with a suspicious eye. It looked as if he were interrogating me.

“Are you in the mood of interrogating about me right now?”1

“Yes, that’s the mood.”

“Why did you suddenly feel like that?”

‘What did I do wrong?’

I asked Harry disgruntledly and he smiled as he tucked my hair behind my ear.2

“Do you know demons have a strong monopoly?”2

I don’t know anything about that.

But demon and monopolism seemed to fit together like a pair.

“I’m yours. On the contrary, you’re mine.”4

“What is that logical leap?”

“Am I wrong?”

“Of course you’re wrong. Harry is mine, but I’m not Harry’s. “

“Why am I yours, and you’re not mine?”2

“Even if the owner has a dog, there is no law for a dog to have his master as it’s dog.”

“That’s quite an unfair unfair.”

“Life is inherently unfair… …Ahh!”

Someone pulled my collar and I screamed reflexively.

When I turned my head in suprise, an old woman was looking at me with a bright smile.

“Lady, take this.”

An old woman held out a ring towards me. It was a ring with a red jewel.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t want to buy.”

“I’m not saying it’s for sale. Just take it.”

“Just give it to me? Why?”

“It’s yours.”

“I think you misunderstood something. That’s not my ring.”

“That can’t be. Look closely, lady. It’s lady’s ring.”

The old woman once again put out the ring in a convicted voice.

I received the ring in a daze under the influence of it.

At first glance it was an ordinary ring except there is a strange pattern inside the red jewel that is hard to recognize.

‘Huh?’

As soon as I saw the pattern, I felt a strange sense of deja vu.

‘This ring…’

Memories of the past occurred to me.

‘Isn’t that ring I bought on my business trip?’2

On my way back from that business trip, my plane crashed, and I died and I was here…

The thought that continued were suddenly cut off.

‘Then why is it here?’

It was not supposed to be here.

I raised my head in surprise. There was so much I wanted to ask to the old woman.

But when I looked up, the old woman had already disappeared.

“Harry, where’s the grandma who gave me this?”

“Grandma? She went to that alley over there.”

I quickly ran in the direction Harry pointed at, but there was no sign of the old woman.

Looking at the dark alley, I clenched the ring. I got goose bumps all over.

Chapter 4. Master of the Holy Sword

I don’t remember exactly how I got back to the mansion.1

I stood blankly still staring at the place where the old lady dissapeared, and I only remembered that Harry who sensed the oddness, had brought me back to the mansion.2

Emma seemed surprised to see me back alone, but did not ask details.

After returning with a surprised face, El also confirmed that I had returned safely, and returned to his quarters.

I don’t think my face was good enough that he went away.

I sighed as I looked at the ring.

After going out to a festival so I could forget my worries, I got an even bigger concern.

‘Why on earth is this here?’

This ring was bought at a small market in Peru. It was my last business trip.2

-An ancient ring made with the heart of the sun god.

I remembered the blind girl selling the ring saying so.

When I heard that? I snorted inwardly.

An ancient artifact made of the heart of God must be a lie to sell it in a high price.

If the ring was really that much of a relic, it should have been in the museum, not on the market street.

‘But did it really have magical powers?’

Otherwise, the ring had no reason to follow me all the way here.

‘Maybe it’s just a similar ring.’

Actually, that is a greater possibility.

But my intuition kept saying that the two rings were the same thing.

I put the ring on my finger. It was just the right size.

‘I bought it because I was surprised to see it fit like this.’

It felt like I was destined to meet this ring that fits my hand at a market in a distant country.

[That ring, it feels bad.]

Harry growled at my hand with the ring.

Harry is a demon. Does he feel any energy from this ring?

[Do you feel any power here? ]

[What are you talking about?]

[Then why does this ring feel so bad?]

[I don’t know why. I don’t feel much power, but it’s strangely disturbing.]

Harry drape on the floor as if he didn’t know what to say.

“Is it just a ring that looks really similar?”‘

Emma sneaked on my side while I was raising my hand and looking at the ring.

“Lady, the Royal Knights are leaving.”

“Oh, they were leaving today.”

“Will you not go to see them off?”

“See them off? Why will I go that far?”2

I answered with indifference.

The Royal Knights are welcome to leave, but there’s no need for me to see them off.

‘The Baron Insettia will take care of the guests.’

The official owner of the House of Erell was Baron Insetia, so it wasn’t particularly rude for me to not go out.

But Emma seemed to disagree with me.

“If the knights leaves today, you won’t be able to see him for a while.”

“Knight? Lord Roytz?”

What’s wrong with not seeing El for a while?

If I didn’t see him for a while, I am grateful. It’s better if we don’t see forever.2

“But you went to the festival together yesterday…”

“Emma half way forced it. I was thinking of going out with Emma.”

“So you’re not really with the knight?”

“I told you yesterday. “

Emma was so disappointed at what I said that she drooped her shoulders.

“Is it that disappointing?”

“Of course. Romance with a knight is every lady’s dream and it’s Lord Roytz, he’s the best partner.”

“If I look objectively, I’d say…”

El wasn’t my cup of tea.

‘I prefer smart book character than strong knights.’

So even when I read the novel, I liked Mason, the genius scholar among Catherine’s fishes.

‘Yvesria and Mason have no particular contacts.’

After the attempted murder, I met Catherine’s various fishes, but I had nothing to do with Mason since I came to Erell.

‘Also my favorite character didn’t bothered me.’

I have an eye to see, me of the past.

I smiled proudly and took Emma’s tea in my mouth.

But as soon as I tried to drink the pleasantly fragrant tea, Harry began to bark.

“Kiiing! Kiiiiing!”

Harry was threatening Emma with his fierce teeth.

Surprised, Emma screamed and sat down with a white face.

Did Harry started going wild suddenly?

I hurriedly got up from my seat and hugged Harry. But Harry couldn’t calm down easily.

[What’s wrong, Harry?]

[This isn’t your maid. ]

[Yes?]

[He smells different from your maid.]

Harry growled on Emma.

I take a close look at Emma who has collapsed. But it was Emma no matter how much I look at her.

[You’re not mistaken? It’s just like Emma. She might just have used a different perfume than usual.]

[Not a smell like that, it smells like blood. That’s not something humans can control. ]2

Harry couldn’t lie about this.

I smelled along Harry. But my ordinary sense of smell did not capture the difference in the smell of blood that Harry was talkimg about.

I don’t think it’s a doppelganger.

It looks too much alike to be similar.

It is understandable if it’s a twin sister.

But Emma was an only child from the orphanage.

‘Then I can only see that someone is disguised as Emma.’

If that was possible, there was one person who came to mind.

Luke, head of the Information Guild.

He was the only one in the novel who had such perfect camouflage, and the ability to act so well.

The thought of it gave a clear picture of the situation.

Liddon would have sent Luke a letter to help, and Luke would have come himself, hoping something interesting had happened.

‘He didn’t thought I’d find out him right away.’

Maybe the real Emma is asleep after taking the pill.

It was the information guild’s iron rule not to kill people, so Emma will return safely if he quits his camouflage and goes back to his place.

I agonized for a moment.

I could have driven Luke away, but there was something difficult about it.

It’s quite fun to watch this guy who hates Yvesria, blending in as a little girl.

In addition, Luke had a strong personality.

It was obvious that Luke, who had taken Yvesria’s maid form while serving the one he hated, had been swearing inside in the midst of listening to her.

‘Let’s make fun of him before I kicked him out, I was bored to death.’

In fact, this world is seriously unplayable.

It is natural that every day is boring because I’m a person who used to lived in modern times where various kinds of fun were poured out in the mobile phone, internet, and out of their homes, falls into a world where only chess and cards are played.

There was no one I can even play chess or cards with.

There was only one nobleman here who could sit and play with me in Erell, Baron Insettia.

But he was busy managing the land, he wasn’t free enough to play with me.

I once played chess and cards with Harry.

But after playing a few times, I realized that this would never be a fun game for me.

Harry, who was usually fierce, overwhelmingly beat me by showing incredible skills at chess and card games.1

This demon, who is obsessed with winning, never once lost.

I eventually threw the board aside and never played chess or card with him again.

I’ve been like this all the time since I came to Erell, and it was so boring.

‘I couln’t enjoy the expected festival because of the ring.’

Not long ago, I said I was satisfied with living in a good house, wearing good clothes, and eating good food, but now I’m looking for fun.

Humans were such a simple being. But what can I do?

‘That’s what a human being supposed to be.’

Everyone else lives that way besides me.

I looked at Luke pretending to be Emma, rationalizing human’s simplicity.

This guy is the head of the Information Guild, but now he’s willing to be my maid.

Hmmm, it’s the perfect time to toy him around.

[Harry, I’ll take care of it so calm down.]

[How do you deal with that?]

[You’ll know when you watch. ]

I petted Harry’s soft fur and calmed him down.

Harry looks unsettled but he stopped threatening Emma,

“It’s okay, Emma, It looks like Harry has calmed down.”

“Yes, lady.”

Luke rose, still wary of Harry.

I sat down in my chair, grinning, and stretched my feet toward Luke.

Luke stopped, as if he didn’t know what I was doing, but I opened my mouth with great dignity.2

“Give me a massage.”
