“Si Si?” Su Qingxing cried out in surprise, as the one who appeared in front of them was Si Si, the little white “dog” that Su Qingxing had always wanted to see again.
“Awoo!” Si Si seemed to have grown up a bit since the last time they met, but those beautiful eyes were still as pretty as they were in his memories.
“Si Si, you seem to have grown up.” Su Qingxing bent down and picked up Si Si, and found that it was no longer the little white ball that he remembered; it was twice as big as before, and looked much more imposing than before.
“You are familiar with this …… wolf?” Qin Guan almost dropped the cigarette he was holding in his mouth when he saw Su Qingxing pick Si Si up, “It’s strange enough that we found ourselves in this place after walking out of the theater, how could there be a snow wolf here.”
“A snow wolf?” Su Qingxing looked down at the mushy Si Si in his arms, “Isn’t Si Si a little white dog?”
Du Wei, Bai Hua and the others all gathered around as well.
“It looks so happy.” Du Wei stroked his chin, “But it does look like a snow wolf. I’ve seen pictures of snow wolves drawn in art class before and they looked very similar.”
“And the sound is different from a normal dog too, right?” Qin Guan half-squinted his eyes as he surveyed Si Si, “If I’m not wrong, this one should be the snow wolf known as the Dream Wolf. It should only live in the snowy areas of the barren mountains, how did it appear here?”
After hearing Qin Guan say this, Su Qingxing remembered that he had never actually heard Si Si make a “woof woof” sound before; he had always barked making sounds similar to “awoo awoo awoo”. At that time, Su Qingxing believed that Si Si was too young and had not yet learned to speak the language of dogs1.
“Si Si is a wolf?” Su Qingxing looked at Si Si in his arms in surprise, “I thought he was just a little white dog that couldn’t grow up.”
But are wolves’ eyes ……supposed to be like this?
“If it really is a snow wolf, since the most powerful ones of them can grow upto two meters, by the time it grows up, you won’t be able to hold it.” Du Wei interjected from the side.
“But how did it appear here?” Qin Guan was still puzzled, “And how do you know it, Su Qingxing?”
Su Qingxing suddenly remembered that his current setting was that of a very timid sophomore student.
So Su Qingxing immediately smiled with an embarrassed expression, hugged Si Si tightly in his arms and said, “Si Si is the little white dog I have at home, although I don’t know how it became the snow wolf you guys are talking about, but it seems like it knows me too.”
“So cute!” Bai Hua came over and tried to tease Si Si, “Let me give him a hug, I’ve always had an affinity with animals since I was little and small animals absolutely love me.”
But the little snow wolf, which had just grown a little, simply turned its head away and ignored him.
Bai Hua’s face changed slightly and suddenly, he smiled, “Senior Su should be careful, in a horror movie like this, even a dog raised since childhood might turn into a zombie and bite you in the next second!”
“Awoo!” It was then that Si Si turned his head and bared his teeth at Bai Hua.
“His words are rude, but not without reason2.” Qin Guan also followed up, “This isn’t our real world, and this wolf might not be real either, so it’s better to be careful.”
“Let me hug it again.” Su Qingxing lowered his head and hugged Si Si in his arms tightly, “I always feel less scared than before when I have Si Si around.”
Such advice was perfectly true for the other trialists, but Su Qingxing was certain that this little wolf was indeed his Si Si the moment he saw it; it was definitely not some hallucination.
As for the reason for Si Si’s appearance here ……
Su Qingxing felt that when this trial was over, it was necessary to find Zhu Sha to discuss this issue properly. Maybe they would find a way to bring Si Si out of the trial world!
“This is also good.” After hearing Su Qingxing’s explanation, Qin Ming nodded, “For the time being, there doesn’t seem to be any danger, so maybe it can even help you out a little.”
“Hey hey!” Mu Rong stood aside with her arms crossed, “Now is not the time to study the little pup, take a look here!”
Only after Mu Rong finished speaking did Su Qingxing’s attention return to the place they were currently in.
It looked like a particular floor of a particularly high-class office building, and it was broad daylight outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, though the inside of the office was also lit very brightly. Most of the people walking around here were female employees, dressed scantily.
Accompanied by phone calls and laughter that are often heard in life, this environment was not like an anxiety inducing horror movie at all.
“The door disappeared.” Bai Hua, who was standing next to Su Qingxing, glanced back, “It looks like the third act of the movie has begun.”
Everyone glanced backwards and realized that the door behind them had turned into a wall; there was no exit to be found at all!
Now that their only way out had disappeared, Mu Rong could only look around and say, “This place looks exactly the same as when I left, where does it look like a horror movie?”
“Awoo!” Nobody knew whether Si Si, who was snuggled up in Su Qing Xing’s arms, was expressing its approval or questioning something.
“Director Mu, this is the information for the meeting later.” At this time, a beautiful looking girl came over and put a folder into Mu Rong’s hand with a smile that was extremely affectionate.
Then, that girl seemed to see Su Qingxing and the others behind Mu Rong, so she asked politely, “Are these Director Mu’s friends?”
“Ah, yes!” Mu Rong took the folder and nodded somewhat shakily, “We have some things to talk about.”
“Then I won’t bother Director Mu.” The girl said, smiling politely and turning to leave.
With that, Mu Rong turned back to Su Qingxing and the others, “This is Liu Xiaoxiao, Betty3, my assistant. It’s all too real.”
“If that snow wolf hadn’t appeared here, and if the road behind hadn’t disappeared, maybe I’d believe it too.” Qin Guan felt that things were not optimistic.
Su Qingxing just held Si Si and surveyed the ordinary looking human world in front of him.
Stroking the snow-white wolf in his arms, Su Qingxing silently mouthed to Si Si: ‘If there is a chance, let’s go play in the human world together, alright?’
“Awoo!” Si Si, however, rubbed his side-neck against Su Qingxing’s arm, as if he4 understood everything.
“Anyway, everyone, let’s go to my office first.” Mu Rong took a deep breath before striding on her high heels towards a certain cubicle, “My office is separate, so I can be more comfortable with both discussions and rest.”
The way back had been blocked, so everyone followed behind Mu Rong and walked in the direction of her office.
“Director Mu.” At this time, a man in a well-tailored suit walked over from nowhere, looking rather imposing, “This CASE5 was completed very well; you are definitely worthy of being the strong woman I promoted!”
“Chief Liu.” Mu Rong showed a very surprised expression when she saw that person, seemingly completely taken aback, “Why are you here?”
“Isn’t it to congratulate you?” The man known as General Manager Liu smiled, “You’ll have to treat us to a big meal6 this time!”
With that, Chief Liu smiled at Su Qingxing and the others again.
“That’s for sure, all thanks to General Manager Liu’s cultivation and leadership.” Mu Rong said, avoiding Mr. Liu’s sight, “I happen to have a few friends here, so I won’t be accompanying you for now.”
“Fine, you get busy first.” Chief Liu waved his hand, “We can just wait for the big meal, haha!”
Some of the staff members who were working around them also showed smiles after hearing Mr. Liu’s words, and some even laughed out loud and began to thank Director Mu for her generosity in advance.
After saying goodbye to everybody in sight, Mu Rong finally led the group of people into the office.
Mu Rong’s office was very large, except that one of the sides of the office was a large glass wall, and although there were blinds, they were completely open at the moment, allowing those inside to see the view of the office outside clearly. At the same time, the people in the outside office could also see the scene inside.
As soon as she walked into her office, Mu Rong familiarly picked up a remote control from her desk.
After a gentle press, the blinds that enveloped the glass were all closed, blocking the view of everybody outside and making the office a relatively independent entity.
Su Qingxing also observed this human office with curiosity.
Si Si struggled in Su Qingxing’s arms for a moment, then leapt straight up from Su Qingxing’s arms and onto the very soft-looking sofa next to him.
Then Si Si raised his head, as if he wanted to show off his increasingly handsome posture to Su Qingxing.
Su Qingxing gazed at the little ball curled up on the sofa and could hardly imagine what Si Si, who had the potential to grow up to two meters, would look like in the future.
“The life of a marketing director is really good.” Qin Guan broke down the door of the beverage cabinet with an ax7 in his hands, took out several bottles of drinks, and tossed them to everyone present in passing.
“It took me a lot of effort to climb up here step by step.” Mu Rong just stood there in the familiar office with an expression that looked like she was thinking about something.
“Ding Ding Ding!”
At this time, the landline on Mu Rong’s desk suddenly rang.
Instead of picking up the phone, Mu Rong walked straight over and pressed the speaker button.
“Hello, this is Mu Rong.”
“Director Mu.” A somewhat familiar voice came from the phone.
“General Manager Liu?” Mu Rong was a little surprised.
Su Qingxing also found it a little strange, they had just seen that General Manager Liu outside, how come the other party called so quickly? Even if they knew Murong well, they didn’t have to act so eagerly, right?
“Director Mu, everyone is hungry, when can we have a big meal?” There was something strange about General Manager Liu’s voice. It seemed to carry no emotion, no joy or sadness; it was as if he was reciting lines in a rigid manner.
“Mr. Liu, there’s no need to be in such a hurry, is there?” The people who had been resting in the office for only a short while also gathered around, feeling that something was not right.
“Everyone is hungry, can we start with the appetizers?” Chief Liu’s voice came again, even with a little more malice, “I like that kid holding the dog, he looks fine and tender, he must be delicious!”
The author has something to say: I heard my cuties talk about horror and whatnot…… isn’t Mirror8 writing a sweet and cool romance story?!!! *widens eyes innocently*
ngl this entire paragraph feels so weird to translate…. If it was difficult to understand, MC is just saying how he’d never heard Si Si make proper dog sounds and he had just assumed that Si Si was too young to be able to ‘talk’ properly, sorta like how babies lisp. AWWWWWWWW KAWAIIII
话粗理不粗: It has a general meaning of “The words are rude but reasonable”
This was written in English and I’m assuming that ‘Betty’ is supposed to be her western (english) name
Si Si is being referred to with a gender neutral term that can mean ‘She’, ‘he’, or ‘it’, so I am a bit confused about how I should refer to him, so I’ll be interchanging ‘it’ and ‘him’ depending upon whether his actions are human-like and whether it’s others referring to him or not. If you want me to stick to a particular pronoun then let me know in the comments
IDK it was originally written like this in the raws…. in uppercase and in English….. maybe because the man spoke this word in English, while emphasizing on it…..
And we all know what the big meal he’s talking abt is……
I am pretty sure he didn’t have an ax a while ago…… tho I might be mistaken….. maybe I should reread the previous chapters
Author is referring to themselves as 3rd person…. trying (and probably failing) to act cute
