Chapter 18: - June 13 (Saturday): [Yuika's Perspective] How Onii-San and I met.
“Hey, let’s exchange LINE.”
When I said that, Onii-San showed a surprised expression.
“Me?”
“Who else is here?”
He always seemed to have an unsociable expression on his face, but he showed me all kinds of expressions.
It was always like that since the first time I met him.
It felt so comfortable to be next to him.
Puzzled, Onii-San fiddled with his hair in a somewhat embarrassed manner.
“No, … well, …, that’s right. We’ve only known each other for less than two weeks. How can you trust me so much?”
“It’s fine with me, so why not?”
“I see. I don’t mind if Yuika says so.”
I knew that Onii-San hadn’t noticed.
It was a month and a half ago that I found out about my brother.
It was right after the Golden Week holidays.1
Yes,…, on the platform of the station where I always get off,…
◆◆◆◆◆
Early May.
It was a day when I was on the train commuting to school, and I was talking to a friend.
“You know~. That college guy suddenly hugged me.”
I pointed out.
“Oh, really? He’s so forward. So what happened?”
“Hmm… Well…. But just a little bit I guess? Cuz even though he’s my bf I still won’t give it to him.”
“But you’re happy about it.”
Then my friend hid her red face with her hands.
“Oh, my God! I didn’t mean to tell you this much! I don’t know why I always talk about such embarrassing things when I’m with Yuika!”
“I’ll be looking forward to the rest.”
To get along with my friends, I tried to listen to what they have to say.
That was all I did, and I had a good relationship with everyone.
But I was not very good at talking about myself.
I was always worried about whether the other person would adjust to me or not, and I couldn’t speak well.
I felt worthless being such a passive person, and I felt … very lonely.
When I got off the train at Seijyo Gakuin-mae station, I heard a loud male voice.
‘What are you talking about, Otozui! Don’t tell me you’re quitting! That’s not even a mistake!”
An older man in a suit, and in his mid-twenties was shouting frantically into the phone.
The people coming and going on the platform were looking at him suspiciously.
Some of them were giggling.
My friend also smiled and whispered to me.
“What was that? A fight? I mean, he looks so heated up.”
Sympathetic to the Onii-San in the suit, but I felt the same way.
“I’ll support you, don’t give up! I’ll definitely do something about it!”
On the station platform, which was the same every day, Onii-San was the only one who made me feel special.
A really strange person.
He was completely in his own world and couldn’t see what was going on around him.
I was sure he only cared about the person on the other end of the phone.
Strange person. Strange people. An uncool person.
But I admire …
That was my thought when I saw someone who was the complete opposite of me.
From the next day on, I started to follow Onii-San with my eyes.
At first, I just saw him by chance and thought, “Oh, that’s the guy from last time”. However, I started to begin to look forward to the day I would see him.
After two weeks, we started riding in the same car at the same time.
One day, I took the liberty of standing next to him.
Mmmmm~! This is so embarrassing!
I thought I could just stand next to you, but I’m so nervous!
No, no, no. I have to keep it from showing on my face.
If I fidget here, I’ll turn into a weird girl.
By the way, he’s surprisingly tall.
The face is … un~. Normal?
However, maybe his temples are cute.
After three days of this, there was an incident on the train.
“Ahh!”
As usual, I was standing next to Onii-San when I almost dropped my phone by accident.
Aah! No! It’s going to fall!
When I thought it was going to fall…, next to me, Onii-San caught my phone.
I was honestly thrilled by his outstandingly good catch.
“A…arigato…gozaimasu”
I was calmly thanking him, but inside I was already panicking!
Wa wa wa! I don’t know what to do!
I hadn’t thought about talking yet, so I wasn’t prepared!
