Chapter 40: CH 40

The second day of my business trip.

After finishing the day’s work, we arrived at the hotel parking lot.

The only thing left to do was to catch the flight home tomorrow morning.

Phew, … I guess we made it.

It was a tough business trip for me and Otomizu; to do the amount of work that would normally be done with three groups, but it felt good to have accomplished it.

“Well. It’s just the two of us now. Let’s kick off the real business trip today.”

“Oh! That sounds great! I’m looking forward to some delicious yakitori!”

“Don’t be surprised if it’s too good.”

After returning to our room and getting ready, we headed for the izakaya1 we were looking for.

The time was seven o’clock at night.

It was a few minutes walk from our hotel, and there were lanterns hanging under the sign.

The Japanese style exterior was to my liking.

There were many different types of izakaya, but I couldn’t stop myself from relaxing in this atmosphere.

The wooden interior was dimly lit but had a relaxed atmosphere.

We walked in and sat down facing each other.

“Good work, Otomizu. You must have had a hard day. You can order whatever you want today.”

“Sasamiya-san, please.”

“You can’t eat me.”

Did she see me as a prey?

She had a cute face, but she could say the most outrageous things.

“What would you like to order, Sasamiya-san?”

Otomizu opened the menu and I pointed to what I wanted to eat.

“Well~. This and this.”

“I understand. Yaki-tori peach and skin. And …, that’s me! Please order for me!” (T/N: Yeah I totally would order you Otomizu, you too cute.)

“Oi. Don’t use yourself as food.”

After a toast, we had a chat over drinks and food.

It was strange to see how much fun we could have with alcohol, even though we spend most of our time together.

Thinking back, today was the first time I had a drink with Otomizu.

“Hey, Sasamiya-san. Your training period will be over soon, won’t it?”

“That’s right.”

“I heard a rumor that me and Sasamiya-san will be on a different team, is that true?”

“Yeah. That’s the company’s policy.”

I had nothing to hide, so I told her exactly what I heard, and she shrugged her shoulders.

“I… want to stay with Sasamiya-san.”

“It’s nice of you to say so, but it’s indeed impossible. I’m glad to hear that, but I can’t. Besides, the next team you will be assigned to is Konno-san’s team. I’m sure you’ll be under her.”

Although she was considered a peculiar person, our senior, Konno-san, was highly regarded by the president and treated her subordinates well.

I heard that she was going to be promoted in the near future.

In that respect, I was still a child.

I was pushed around from start to finish, but being a trainer was a good experience for me.

From now on, I need to be able to look after the people around me.

Just as the conversation was about to die down, the waitress brought the yakitori I had ordered.

“Here you go, sir. Here is your yakitori, peach and skin.”

Looking at the yakitori lined up on the plate, Otomizu exclaimed in admiration.

“Wow. Looks delicious!”

“It’s good. Eat as much as you like.”

Then we had a great time drinking.

After a while, Otomizu started to become intoxicated.

“Hmmm~!”

Suddenly, Otomizu sat down next to me and closed the distance between us.

“What’s going on?”

“I promised Sasamiya-san that I would sit next to him.”

“All right, all right.”

Otomizu drank the rest of the beer and put the glass on the table.

“Sasamiya-san, you’re right. You need to be more forceful~”

“I see, I see.”

This time, she hugged my arm and let out a coquette, “Mmm~”.

“More~. More… more forcefully~”

“Yes.”

“Are you listening?”

“I’ve been listening.”

Of course, her breasts were touching me.

I was happy as a man, but at the same time, I was insanely embarrassed.

Incidentally, Otomizu had only drank half a glass of beer.

She said she was a strong drinker before we entered the bar, but here we were.

Otomizu was always so busy with her work that it was a relief to see her like this.

When I thought it had suddenly become quiet, Otomizu started to fall asleep in my arms, hugging me.

She was completely drunk.

I didn’t  often get to witness a woman’s sleeping face, but it was so cute.

I wanted to give her a peck on the cheek.

“Mmm~. I like the smell of Sasamiya-san~”

Yare-yare. She was making fun of me even when she talked in her sleep.

At any rate, she didn’t  seem to be awake, so I took her back to her room.
