“Huh?”

Kayden turned his back. Yuanna, who was walking behind him, looked at him with a puzzled face.

Even Diego, who was following behind Yuanna, stopped.

“What’s wrong?”

Despite her question, Kayden scratched the back of his head and was busy looking around.

“I think someone is watching me……”

Kayden did not finish his words. It was because the two people who were looking at him blinked their eyes, not understanding what he was talking about.

In the end, Kayden turned his back again.

“Nevermind.”

‘Maybe I’m too sensitive,’ he thought, and started walking again.

Half a day had passed since they left the cabin. Yuanna looked tired not long after leaving, but she tried not to show it.

‘I have to quickly find a place to spend the night.’

While Kayden was thinking about that, Yuanna’s voice came from behind.

“By the way, you are so unpredictable, Lord.”

Without looking back, Kayden stepped forward with a dagger and chopped down a tree branch that was blocking the path ahead.

“When I saw you talking to Young Lady Floné, I thought you were a friendly person. Contrary to rumors, you talk a lot.”

Kayden had always been surrounded by rumors and prejudice as much as Margaret.

If the mad girl of the Langridge Empire was Margaret, the madman was, of course, Kayden.

However, the difference between Margaret and Kayden was that Margaret was active in society while Kayden didn’t even show his face to the public.

He occasionally appeared in a laboratory, led by wizards or priests. But when he did, he would crush the place to dust, which made people fear him.

Yuanna continued trying to talk to Kayden, who didn’t respond.

“But you don’t talk much today.”

“Well, does it matter? Isn’t Sir Diego far more contrary to the rumors than I am?”

Rather than being very talkative, Kayden basically didn’t like hanging out with people.

But he couldn’t avoid this situation since Margaret asked him to cooperate with these people now.

Yuanna’s laughter was heard behind his back.

“Ah, that’s right. Sir Diego loves cute things.”

Diego protested in a low voice at her playful remarks.“Please respect my taste.”

Kayden somehow thought he wanted to tease him, but again, Yuanna didn’t miss the timing and babbled.

“Oh, not just taste….., you are surprisingly a coward, aren’t you?”

“No, that’s a misunderstanding.” Diego answered with a sullen face, Yuanna burst out laughing.

“What misunderstanding? Who shed chicken-poo tears[1], saying that rabbits are too cute to eat?”

[1] Crying with the head down so that the tears fall directly from the eyes to the ground (just like a chicken pooping) instead of running down the face.

Unable to respond to Yuanna’s playful question, Diego bit his lip. It seems that he thought it would be better to keep his mouth shut.

Even Kayden thought this was a wise decision.

They made their way through the rough undergrowth and out into the open space. Kayden swung his dagger flashily between his fingers and placed it in the sheath tied around his waist.

Kayden looked up at the sky. Red shadows began to appear in the blue sky.

“I think the sun is going down. It’s easy to be surrounded by monsters in this very open space……”

“Lord Kayden is right.” Diego nodded, in response to Kayden’s murmuring.

Looking around, he said calmly, “I think it would be better to walk a little longer. It’s dangerous, but the sun is still up, so now is the best time to look around.”

“Oh, if you walk a little further from here, there is a huge river. Wouldn’t it be better to pick a place close to it to spend the night?”

At Yuanna’s words, Kayden took out the compass and map Margaret had given him.

After navigating with the compass and checking the location on the map, it was not too far from the place where Yuanna found the key.

Kayden thought maybe he could get there quickly if he camped for a single night.

Kayden folded the map and said, “It’s dangerous around the river because you don’t know when anaconda monsters will appear, but it’s easy to get water, so it’s good to stay around there.”

As soon as Kayden finished speaking, the river came into view behind the trees.

“It’s a river!” Yuanna shouted with a rosy look.

Kayden and Yuanna, who were about to walk towards the river, stopped because Diego blocked them.

“Please wait a moment. There is something like a hut over there.”

Looking in the direction Diego pointed, there was a small hut near the river. It was a very small hut that looked like it could barely fit three people.

They looked at each other’s with a puzzled look, and then slowly approached the place.

Kayden carefully looked around the hut.

Huge trees braced the hut like a fortress, and red flowers bloomed here and there, creating a bright atmosphere.

“It’s a little different, but it looks similar to the one Margaret made.”

Diego looked inside the hut at Kayden’s murmur and turned to him in surprise.

“Does Young Lady Floné really know how to make a hut?”

“I think Young Lady Floné is really amazing.” Yuanna looked at Kayden with admiration.

Kayden nodded proudly as if he was the one being praised.“She is.”

Then, he pulled the dagger from his waist and whistled.

“There doesn’t seem to be anything dangerous around. The hut looks good too, how about staying here tonight?”

Kayden checked everything, even inside the hut and asked Yuanna and Diego.

Yuanna and Diego, who had looked around the hut and checked the condition, nodded in agreement with him.

“That’s a good idea.”

They immediately unpacked their luggage in the hut. Soon after, Kayden tried to leave the hut.

“I’m going to do some reconnaissance around the area and get something to eat.”

“I will go with you.” Deigo said.

At Diego’s words, Kayden firmly shook his head.

“Sir, please protect the hut. The most important thing on our journey right now is the Saintess’ safety.”

Convinced, Diego nodded. Yuanna, who was quietly listening to their conversation, smiled at Kayden and waved her hand.

“Good luck. I will keep the hut safe.”

Then Yuanna saw him off and blew him a kiss, Kayden frowned and sighed. He found it difficult to know her heart, so he was uncomfortable facing her.

Kayden smirked and left the hut holding his dagger.

The sky was dyed purple. In preparation for the danger of monsters appearing, Kayden kept his movements to a minimum.

After awhile, he was about to return to the hut after catching a small rabbit-like animal.

‘I can feel someone is watching me somewhere.’

At that moment, Kayden felt strange waves gently vibrating in the air.

He looked around to see where the sound waves were coming from and found a pair of pupils staring at him from afar.

“Crap.”

Those yellow eyes that lit up in the darkness didn’t seem willing to attack him, as if it was only intent to watch him in the first place.

It looked like a wolf-type monster.

Kayden quietly grabbed his dagger and took a stance.

After glaring at each other for quite awhile, the monster soon turned around as if it had lost its motivation and disappeared through the bushes.

Kayden straightened up with a slightly disappointed face.

“What, it makes me feel bad.”

It was like being watched by a monster.

I wonder if the island’s monsters are systematically monitoring us, just as Margaret and I had speculated.

Besides, this is an area where tarantula-type monsters inhabit on a large scale. This was the first time he had seen a wolf-type monster roaming in this area.

I feel uneasy, but I’ll tell Margaret about it later when I return. I would like to be praised for bringing back useful information.

That thought made him feel better. Kayden returned to the hut humming.

Where he witnessed a rather odd sight.

“What the hell is this……”

Around the hut, red flowers were in full bloom to an unrealistic level.

When he left, the flowers were not blooming so fast.

Suddenly the moon rose high in the sky.

The flowers seem to absorb the moonlight and bloom more brightly.

“You’re here, Lord?”

Yuanna came out of the hut yawning. Following her, Diego came out with a somewhat exhausted face.

“Huh? When did the flowers bloom like this?”

Yuanna looked around with a puzzled look at the flowers filling the hut.

Kayden observed the flowers while holding his chin.

They suddenly increase in number, they have an amazingly fast growth rate, and there are more than one or two suspicious spots on each flower.

“I saw this flower when I was walking here. It’s pretty…… I’ve never seen such a pretty flower.”

Diego glanced at Yuanna as she murmured.

“If you like it, I’ll pick it for you.”

As he bent down and picked the flower in front of the hut, Kayden hastily stopped him.
