Chapter 9: The Grand Order: Shiroyu (Ch-9)

Something about her smile just screamed suspicions.

 

“Why did you stick around though?”

 

“I heard rumors that someone used one of the SSS rank magic. I had to make sure he wasn’t causing all this havoc.”

 

“He? Who?”

 

“The Blaze Order. He’s somewhat of a hot headed individual. Don’t worry he is actually a cool guy who never does wrong but his attitude is a bit off putting. But forget him, you changed weather. How?” She was now dead serious.

 

“I simply brought together the water molecules and condensed them to form clouds and then ionized them and the bodies of bandits and electrocuted them.”

 

“You… did what?”

 

“It was more efficient than creating clouds. Creating something takes a lot more energy but manipulating something that already exists is a way better alternative.” I had noticed earlier that creating things from a molecular level was much easier than creating things as they looked. For example, creating pepper by thinking of capsaicin was easier than creating it based on its taste and texture. Actually, I never managed to get the taste and texture right.

 

“I see. Anyways, those inside are lowly S or SS ranks. How about you join The Grand Order?”

 

“They’re my partners and friends. I can’t leave them.”

“My bad. I thought we could become friends.” She sounded distraught but then moved closer to me. She looked like she was a little older than me. Maybe 19? She placed her left hand on my left thigh and teasingly moved it up. I just couldn’t move at all. She had taken control over the situation and no she wasn’t controlling my mind. It was her sheer presence that made it clear to me unconsciously that she is superior and I shouldn’t question her authority. She placed her right hand on my chin and forced me to look into her eyes. She licked her lips and stopped a centimeter away from my lips.

 

“U-ummm…”

 

“If you join us, you can do this with me whenever you want. I can see right through you. You’re attracted to older women, right?”

 

“Why do you want me to join you so badly?”

 

“We need one more SSS rank user to help us with something.”

 

I looked to my left and saw Sasaki.

 

“Who are you?!” He picked up a sword.

“Get lost.” Shiroyu lifted her finger and a strong gust of wind blew away the tents and forced Sasaki to duck. Leanna and Historia were dumbfounded but Leanna was quick to respond by attacking Shiroyu.

 

“Get away from Kara!”

 

“Leanna, kill her!” Historia shouted from behind.

 

Why are they so dead set on killing her? Maybe they think she is some bandit.

 

She sighed and stopped Leanna’s swing with just her index finger. It seemed like Leanna was nothing more than a mosquito to her. Shiroyu kicked Leanna in her guts and sent her flying into a palm tree.

 

“If you join The Grand Order, I’ll spare them.” Shiroyu’s expression didn’t change throughout this ordeal. It was calm and elegant. I finally could see what was underneath her daisy patterned cape and it was… A SUIT?! It was a 2-piece suit.

 

Why am I saying all this when my friends are being attacked by her!? I stood up but was immediately struck down by a down kick forcing me to fall on my knees. It didn’t break my collarbones or shoulder which made it obvious she didn’t have intentions to kill but I can’t take risks. She is one of The Grand Order after all. I ionized a line linking Shiroyu to the ocean but she jumped away.

 

“Oh my… Kara, did you really think that I wouldn’t notice? I’m equal to The Flash Order who uses SSS rank thunder magic. Your precision is great but not the speed. If I were to rank you, despite your talent you lack experience in battle. I’d say you’re barely a new recruit. In a battle against that Royal knight, you’d lose in an instant.”

 

“I know.” I said and stood up again. “I give up.” I raised my hands to indicate my admittance to my defeat.

 

“Good.” Shiroyu smiled at me but I’m suspicious of this woman.

 

“If you’re this strong then why haven’t you killed off the demon lord?”

 

“That’s precisely why I wanted you to join us. We haven’t been able to track down the Demon Lord despite being one year. The Flash Order thinks this Demon Lord either doesn’t exist or is not on this planet.

 

“I see.” So they were in fact trying but just couldn’t find this supposed Demon Lord. “Shiroyu, can you escort us to the Empire of Deem?”

“Su- '' Shiroyu was stabbed from her back by Leanna. Leanna thrusted her sword as deep as she could, into Shiroyu. She coughed blood but was struck by Sasaki from the side who impaled her with his sword, possibly piercing her spleen, kidney and stomach.

 

“DIE!!” Leanna and Sasaki shouted together. Why are they doing this?

 

“Stop!” I created some tiny tornadoes and forced them out of the situation.

 

“My my… hasty little kids.” Shiroyu was not impressed. She wiped her mouth with a handkerchief and pulled out the swords from her body and her body and dress regenerated instantly but not only that, her dress was as clean as a new.

 

“Shiroyu, why are they trying to kill you?”

 

“How would I know?” She smiled at me but I could clearly see her pain. Was she lonely too, just like me?

 

“Guys she is The Grand Order!” I announced.

 

Historia, Leanna and Sasaki stopped in their tracks immediately and bowed to her. They didn’t even try to question it. Maybe because Leanna is technically in the second highest rank so, this person, Shiroyu, HAD to be someone who ranks higher which is only The Grand Order.

 

“We apologize. We have been attacked multiple times already so we were being cautious.” Leanna was the first to apologize formally.

 

“Is The Grand Order trustworthy?” I asked.

 

“If we were evil, we would’ve taken over the world before demons.”

 

“I hope so.”

“It’ll be the start of a new relationship.” She patted my head. “Anyways about The Empire… they are being super asshole-y since they’ve put so many restrictions on who can and can’t enter. Even The Grand Order has to identify themselves. The Blaze Order was really mad about it. According to him, we stand above these pesky royalty which he is right about but there was no point in stabbing the commander-in-chief of the Empire’s army. Only if those insects knew their position.”

So these 5 seem to have a god complex.

 

“So, you think of yourselves as gods?”

“Think? No, we ARE. Who else can change weather at will, destroy countries and make people excrete in their clothes at the mere utterance of our names.”

She is not wrong per se.

 

She went from a 10/10 to a 9/10 but I think her god complex isn’t hurting anyone or herself since it’s rooted in facts.

 

I need to stay on guard around her.

 

“Shiroyu, I will join you after I reach the Empire of Deem alongside my friends.”

 

“As you wish, I will inform others and the Empire about your existence and if they question you, let them know their place as beings inferior to us.” She smiled and disappeared into thin air.

 

Her presence was gone in an instant. I rushed over to Leanna and Sasaki to make sure they were not hurt. Gladly, they only had some minor injuries that would heal by themselves without needing intervention.

 

Every cell in my body is telling me to be wary of that woman.

 

We set up our tent again and went to sleep. We need to move much faster starting tomorrow.

The next day we spent 8 hours just walking. We had woken up at around 6AM so it was now 2PM so we still had a few hours left.

 

I know my walking speed is about 4 kilometers per hour so I think we should’ve covered 30 kilometers or so.

 

Seems like we have only covered about 1/10th of distance. I can’t think of a way to make us walk faster. Sasaki and Historia were busy cooking lunch for us while Leanna was patrolling the area. Now that I had magic, Leanna didn’t have to worry about hurting me accidentally during battles.

 

What if I made a plane? But that’d probably be the most pointless thing. A bicycle!! Why hadn’t I thought of it till now. But I barely remember what a bicycle looks like. I sat down and thought about the parts from my memory. I know I need 2 gears, one for pedals and one for the rear tire. The two will be attached with a chain that’ll have holes in it to fit into the teeth of gears. Also I need two tires, a handle and a brake. I know how to make everything using magic but how do brakes work? I know it works when we press the handle and somehow it pushes the brakes against the tires and forces them to decelerate. I don’t know how to make brakes.

 

“Hey, Leanna. How many people can you pull using ropes?” It was quite a weird question to ask but I needed an answer.

 

“With enhancement magic, 15 average men but without the magic maybe about 7.” She replied with a really confused tone.

 

We are only 3 teenagers so it’ll be rather easy for her.

 

“Okay so after our lunch, Leanna and I will go into the city and try to locate some carts to help us reach the Empire quicker. I was hesitant at first because I didn’t possess any magic but now that I have magic, it’s possible.” I announced and thought of my magic abilities. Using SSS rank magic seems easy but it’ll attract a lot of attention. We need to get done as quickly as possible.

 

I’ll stick to something smaller.

 

We had our lunch and Leanna and I left for the city almost immediately. I could’ve created a bicycle myself but it was too much work for my tiny brain.

 

Anyways, I have to think of a type of magic. There are 5 elemental, Light and Dark magic. I’m going to join The Grand Order which has 5 members for now. I suspect they cover all 5 elementals. Shiroyu was a wind user. Flash Order sounds like a thunder user and Blaze Order sounds like fire user.

 

I’ll focus on all 5 of them.

 

“Kara!! Get on guard!!” Leanna shouted as she charged forward towards some demons. There were about 6 of them.

 

I looked around to confirm there weren’t any more of them.

 

I lifted my hand towards the demons and created a fireball. I thought of basically hydrogen and oxygen reacting which is a fairly simple chemical reaction. Using a bit of wind magic, I launched the fireball at one of the demons who was quite far away from Leanna. The flame should be above 500°C. The demon started burning but it didn’t have a lasting effect on it. It had turned its attention from Leanna to me.

 

I sighed and pulled out my molotov with a salt bag in it. I lit it on fire and tossed it at the demon. The molotov exploded and the wounds on the demon were infected by the salt which didn’t have an instant effect but it did kill it.

 

The experiment was a success.

 

I’ve created a weapon to kill demons. By then Leanna had already killed the other five. If I remember correctly a single demon is like a platoon so Leanna killing 5 of them makes her as strong as about 100 men. She is actually pretty strong. She was a royal knight after all.

 

The two of us kept looking around for a working cart. There were many broken ones but they were too broken so fixing them wasn’t exactly feasible.

 

“What now?” I asked Leanna who was just as tired.

 

“I think there should be one in the merchant guild.” She suggested it and we decided to go to the guild. It wasn’t like we had much of an option here.

 

“Sasaki told me you used thunder magic yesterday but today you used flame magic. How is that possible? You’re definitely something else, Kara.”

 

Leanna sounded genuinely impressed by me.

 

“Actually I also used wind magic to launch the fireball.” I replied and smiled at her. “I’m super cool, right?”

 

“Too good. You got attention from even The Grand Order. What title do you plan to use as a member?”

 

“I’m thinking of something like The Shadow Order but that sounds quite embarrassing.”
“Shadow? Why that?” She asked.

I couldn’t tell her that I pulled it out of some anime I used to watch.

 

“I don’t exactly plan on joining the group. I will work behind the scenes. It’s best to have someone like me work behind the scenes.” I replied and pushed open the doors of the merchant guild.

 

We managed to find a cart at the merchant’s guild. I was in nearly perfect state. Some fixing and it will be good to go. We took it back to the beach.

 

“Guys we are back.” Leanna announced but to our dismay we weren’t greeted by Historia or Sasaki.

 

Our tent and stuff were all destroyed. The two of us started looking around for the two of them but then Leanna noticed something and called me over. It was blood stains.
