Almost half a month has come to pass when Zhou Luoluo is recovered enough to come pester Cheng Zhaoci again.

During this time, his latest comic’s first arc is published in its entirety. The readers go from imagining the great successes and exploits going back in time would bring, to feeling the strangeness over the whole affair as they learn the true nature of the protagonist insectoid, and then, after the last chapter…

Yup, the damned comic artist has done it again. Single-handedly giving them hope with one hand and a hammer with the other to smash the fantasy of going back in time into pieces.

Well, damn the comic artist all they want, but after the third chapter is published, there is a clear increase in the number of readers. Ah, these insectoids sure aren’t honest with their feelings.

“So you’ve earned yourself another round of complaints?” Zhou Luoluo reads the comments, “they don’t look much like complaints to me anyhow.”

Yes, as these insectoids are mostly ones who are already used to BombIn’s shittiness. They might have been genuinely pissed off in the beginning, but now they’ve mostly resorted to memes and inside jokes.

Cheng Zhaoci is finishing up the second story in his comic. He glances over at Zhou Luoluo’s screen, and yup, he’s getting damned all over the place. Yeah, yeah, they can say what they want. He knows everyone has been really stressed lately, and the severity and intensity of meming certainly reflects that. In fact, yesterday, one new fan was voicing his concern over the harshness of the words employed. Then his damned readers educated the new fan on their meming and invited him along.

Today, Cheng Zhaoci woke up to his latest fan also condemning him with damnation. Ha, what a damned fan.

Sometimes, the relationship between a creator and a reader is simply mutual hatred.

“Xiao-bao’s comment section has the insectoids busy probing plot holes and the ones who really like the story arguing with each other,” the story has progressed to the point where the protagonist has taken his kid to return in style. The bossy CEO of a male saw the kid, and was 100% certain he must be his son. The dumpster fire of winning back his beloved is now underway.

Zhou Luoluo has already moved past the dissing stage. There are too many thick black plot holes to point out. Many others in the comments are still going strong. They continue to look for illogical bugs in the comments every single day. It’s a rather unique ecosystem in Zhou Luoluo’s comic.

“So they’re reading the comic in detail to look for the plot holes?” Cheng Zhaoci points out the obvious, “they are still insisting on reading every panel of every chapter even though they don’t like the story’s many odd threads of logic. And these aren’t supposed to be fans who love the comic to death?”

Zhou Luoluo “…”

He doesn’t want to answer, because it also eerily describes him. He knows it’s completely ridiculous, but, like, he just wants to see how absurd it can get.

Zhou Xiaobao didn’t come along with his cousin, because he’s busy drawing more chapters at home. Due to the war, cultural entertainment is booming in popularity. Apparently, male schools have all been shut down indefinitely in response to the increase in male kidnappings.

The measure has also been extended to regular schools for demis and shemales recently. The military academy is the only exception.

From Xiao Ji’s messages, training has been ramped up, especially for the graduate classes. They might be pulled to the frontline as soon as they graduate.

Xiao Ji and He Huaijian don’t have to worry about that; though He Huaijian is still busy with his secret project. All Xiao Ji knows is that whenever he is calling Bai Jun for help, he gets yelled to the point of wishing to cancel his subscription to life.

He Huaijian is still a self-learned student who is barely 18. Bai Jun is a proper researcher, and a genius who has come up with that teleportation magic. The difference between them is astronomical. Bai Jun’s opinion on He Huaijian’s efforts is probably akin to an undergraduate watching kindergarteners doing maths.

Extremely lacking in rigour and methodology.

Xiao Ji even said that he was expecting the male and shemale to end up developing some chemistry between them. Though the only chemistry is apparently Bai Jun exploding in response to whatever questions He Huaijian posits. He got the impression that every single insectoid but Bai Jun are thinking with their butts and not brains.

There is a close-to-zero chance the generally dignified and proud He Huaijian could fall for Bai Jun.

He concluded that Bai Jun was single to this point in time for a reason.

Meanwhile, Zhou Luoluo is talking about the second reason Zhou Xiaobao couldn’t come – his family wouldn’t let him. Zhou Xiaobao could usually get what he wants when he makes the rare request to his parents, but there have been too many kidnappings. Zhou Xiaobao’s father and dad, and his uncles, have coerced him to stay.

“Like, if Xiaobao even utter a syllable of wanting to go outside, my uncle goes all teary-eyed. And he’d actually cry, and ask him over and over ‘What would poor father do if he lost his son? Father would rather go be with you’ and stuff like that,” Zhou Luoluo makes a rather vivid impression.

“Wait, so what about your parents?” Cheng Zhaoci asks, curious, “they’re not worried you’d get kidnapped?”

Zhou Luoluo visibly shrinks and depresses a little, “they are, so they were talking about getting me bodyguards. When they learned I was coming to the Grand Marshal’s mansion, they just let be me. They said they could do with some peace and quiet for once.”

He is slightly sad and definitely depressed his parents are irritated by his talking too much.

Though, he can’t say he really likes venturing outside either. He just enjoys spending time with Cheng Zhaoci – it feels safer around him for some reason, even though he also knows Cheng Zhaoci, a male, would probably be kidnapped along with him if the unthinkable really were to happen.
