Chapter 57.1

What Happened That Moment

“The current climate of the insectoid society can be said to have been the brainchild of grade S males,” Bai Jiawen continues explaining, “have you wondered why we’ve been so calm with the revolt of Jin Yue and the others? Look at your granddad-in-law, the Grand Marshal who’s taking walks and drinking warm tea. It’s the same for the other higher ups. No one believes they’d be able to do anything.”

Cheng Zhaoci thinks about it, and asks his question, “you have extremely destructive weaponry?”

“We do,” replies Bai Jun, “if they do make it onto any of the more prosperous planets, total wipeout is all that awaits them,” and he thinks about it, but cannot elaborate further. Instead, he says, “it’s in a similar vein to the males fighting shemales with firearms back then.”

Even without a contemporary grade S male guiding them, the First Research Institute has produced enough terrors around.

Cheng Zhaoci understands. Like a human who can control, for example, tanks and mechanised infantry in his past life, but his side has hydrogen bombs. A puffy cloud later, everything is gone.

“You males sure are terrifying,” says Cheng Zhaoci.

“Us males, as you can see. Males are in the topmost political positions, like me, the head of state of the insectoids. Most non-military position are filled by males; at least, on developed planets.”

Cheng Zhaoci finally understands why photographs of politicians are banned from distribution. Though he wonders, “why this need for subterfuge? The insectoid society at large has no idea males are making life much more convenient for them, or that most of the legislature are males. You know they think you’re even a puppet of the Chairman.”

Bai Jiamen sighs again. Then he clicks on a hidden button to open up a concealed mini-fridge, retrieving snacks and drinks inside, handing it to the stupefied Cheng Zhaoci, “this looks like it’s going to get long.”

Cheng Zhaoci takes the snack; perhaps he really looks too shocked, so Bai Jiawen adds, “it’s a personal preference. Also, my cijun enjoys these.”

Looks like direct evidence disproving relationship problems between the President and the Chairman of Chief Command. The puppet rumour is simply that, rumours.

“We aren’t hiding these achievements away from the shemales, but from the males,” Bai Jiawen also looks saddened, “even of all males whose aptitude tested grade A, at best a third would be offered positions in fields of research or the parliament. The rest are let continue their lifestyles for reasons like family background or mental deviancy.”
“We think the root of this concealment was actually a joke policy implemented by a President some terms past; another grade S male,” explains Bai Jiawen, “I haven’t seen him myself, but my father has described him as a ‘monster.'”
“His lifelong goal is nothing more than to suppress shemales and demis. They say that when he was still underage, his shemale older brother… did something outrageous to him. He discreetly influenced the legislature and laws passed until it became this mindless, overzealous protection of males. The situation worsened to its current state then.”
“He just enjoyed the thought of the powerful shemales actually being commanded and led by the majority males of the Institute and in politics, unable to struggle, because the entire society, and the whole judiciary, is completely on males’ side. He also didn’t want any shemale or demi to have the potential to threaten male politicians, considering we cannot employ the most powerful weaponry on the Capital planet and how good at physical fights the shemales are.”

Bai Jiawen takes a sip before continuing, “rectification continued up to my taking the office. Over time, most of the males in leadership positions were screened and some dissuaded from furthering their careers. Simply put, it was a slow, agonising bloodbath.”
“We were able to push for ever more stringent measures on the selection grade A males; those not chosen are typically male-supremacist or unhealthily sadistic.”

“That policy before proved to be in our favour, because if these rejected grade A males, who are just as talented and capable if they put their minds to it, were to know the government is currently made up mostly of males, they’ll notice our male-led government spearheading the effort to overturn the male prerogatives and privileges in no time. It’d be a catastrophe for us all.”

Cheng Zhaoci has this wide-eyed look the whole time. When it’s clear Bai Jiawen is finished, he asks a question, “so then, um, that President from before, is he entirely merciless in personality, or…”

“It’s a trait of grade S males. With their brains and senses evolved beyond our capabilities of measurement, it seems they also lose a sense of their insectoidality in a sense. Only the deepest, generally most well-guarded memory of their mind continues to influence them. This is often their biggest regret by nature.”

Bai Jiawen then gives Cheng Zhaoci this relieved look, “I’m sure you won’t be like that,” since that regret of Cheng Zhaoci’s is just so… unconventional. And most importantly, it would no longer be a regret with the simplest of efforts from both parties involved.

“… Uh, thanks?” Cheng Zhaoci isn’t cheered up too much, though, because he is once again questioning this grade S thing. It feels like, other males become this übermensch version of themselves when they turn grade S, able to change the world…
While becoming the butt of a joke on him.
