“You just got married?!” Zhou Luoluo saw the status update and came rushing immediately for the juicy gossip, only to find a sofa full of insectoids equally as stunned as he is.

Wei Zhuo, the insectoid in question, failed to react in time. Neither did the others. This means that, when they’ve recovered their breaths, Cheng Zhaoci has already registered his marriage with Wei Zhuo.

“Did we invent a time machine before I knew it?” Xiao Ji is slapping his own cheeks, questioning if his sense of time is off. He does feel pain, so he’s not dreaming.
The only logical conclusion is that a time machine has been invented. He was transported through time, which would explain why his Ci-zai is already getting married.

He Huaijian has his poker face as usual, but if one looks closely, his gaze is without focus, “I don’t know. Don’t ask me.”

Cheng Jin is watching Cheng Zhaoci as he continues to send messages back and forth with Wei Zhuo, who is currently already on the vessel headed for the frontline. After Cheng Zhaoci updated his marriage status and replied to some comments, he’s been messaging Wei Zhuo. Not just that, but he has had this exceedingly creepy smile on him ever since.

He is sprawled there on the sofa, his slightly cold, gloomy appearance gives way to strangeness as he is not just smiling, but making ‘hehehehe’ noises all the way.

“I…” Cheng Jin is now seriously doubting his own methodology for raising a child. How did his good male son turn out like this?

Who would drag a shemale off to get certified when no one has prepared anything? No one, no one, he says!

Lu Yao is the only one who notices Zhou Luoluo standing all confused at the door as he sips his tea. He greets him, “yo, Zhou Xiaobao, welcome!”

“My name is Zhou Luoluo,” corrects Zhou Luoluo, as he makes a beeline for Cheng Zhaoci, crashing him further into the sofa.

“What happened?! What just happened?! How did you get married? Aren’t you a minor?!” Zhou Luoluo was so forceful he almost flips the sofa over with Cheng Zhaoci and himself still on it. After stabilising himself, Cheng Zhaoci is giving Zhou Luoluo a disapproving look.

He pries Zhou Luoluo off himself, chastising him, “calm down. Did you really have to be such a drama queen about it?” Well, chastise all he wants, but Cheng Zhaoci’s mouth is clearly trying to pull a smile again.

“And I’m an adult now. I went to the aptitude test today for my birthday, as you already know,” Cheng Zhaoci dramatically sighs, “you don’t have to be so surprised. Insectoids would always grow up eventually, like me, who suddenly has a family.”

“… Too sudden,” Xiao Ji chimes in.

Cheng Zhaoci takes a deep breath, and says, “I had to grow up eventually, as an adult, and have my own cijun. It’s only earlier than expected.”
“And it’s not unexpected, you know. Wei-ge and I have been together for so long. Our personalities fit, and we like each other, and our aptitudes match. Wei-ge is going to be my cijun eventually. I just made it early,” Cheng Zhaoci then concludes, “it’s all as it should be.”

Well, this is all still weird.

Unfortunately for everyone else, Cheng Zhaoci deals the killing blow, “maybe you’re simply not used to seeing an insectoid with as smooth a romantic journey as I did. It’s not my fault; I just met my predestined love at the right time.”

“I still have work to do, so I’ll be excusing myself,” Lu Yao takes his warm bottle with him, looking mildly narky.

He is of course happy that his grandson has found a good partner for a xiongzhu, but he can’t help disliking the two immediately as the happiness fades.

Honestly, Cheng Zhaoci is kind of a pain to deal with; Wei Zhuo is only all too happy to spoil him even when he gets into the mood.

“I have research work at school, so I’ll be going,” He Huaijian has also had enough of Cheng Zhaoci for the day. Xiao Ji also stands up, but he has the whole day off, so he wouldn’t have anything to do at school. He says, “I’m gonna go bea-I mean train with my classmates.”

Now, only Cheng Jin and Zhou Luoluo remains to accompany Cheng Zhaoci. Zhou Luoluo is probably still in a confused stupor, while Cheng Jin…
He’s probably here, because of his love as Cheng Zhaoci’s dad. Dads are really something else.

“Dad, do you still remember the day when I met Wei-ge? It was a perfect recreation of my first comic, and Wei-ge also looks really liked my character too,” Cheng Zhaoci starts recounting the same-old tale he’s been telling since the dawn of time, “you remember Jin Yue. He kidnapped me that day…”

“I have to check in on Mr Liang. You two have fun,” Cheng Jin is still showing a warm smile to Cheng Zhaoci, but his hurried steps betray his true feelings.

Now, finally, only Zhou Luoluo remains. He mumbles, “my goodness, you’ve mastered the art of chasing people away.”

Cheng Zhaoci is looking at Zhou Luoluo with a poker face, but Zhou Luoluo’s attention falls elsewhere, “did I just hear you say that you and the Group Captain have matching aptitudes? I mean, Group Captain Wei is grade-S…”

“Yes, and so am I,” Cheng Zhaoci calmly drops a bomb, and Zhou Luoluo’s eyes widen in astonishment, as in, literally wide enough his eyeballs might actually pop out, “grade S?! Is, is that the reason you became a successful comic artist?”

… Of course not. Grade S males have their brains augmented during awakenings, to a degree that they could push or halt the entire technological progress of a species, and would dedicate their minds to leaving century-spanning impact on the world. That’s what grade S males are.

So Cheng Zhaoci… he’s probably the most underwhelming grade S ever. He’s not even remotely interested in ‘taking his frustrations out on society.’ He just wants to draw comics, and spend some quality time with his cijun and such.
Which, honestly, is evident when his grade S-ness was briefly triggered during the aptitude test, and his mind was just filled with earthly desires and regrets?

Well, earthly as it was, at least he’s certain he won’t be causing societal distress and upheaval, so that’s nice.

At least, nice enough for a simple insectoid like Cheng Zhaoci. The President mentioned schooling and giving him some projects to his name, but Cheng Zhaoci is quite sure he wouldn’t end up dedicating himself to weapons manufacturing. Not for some bloated, majestic reason like world peace, which doesn’t even seem remotely achieveable with technological advancement,
But simple disinterest. That is reason enough for Cheng Zhaoci.

In fact, if he really could put his mind to it, he’d rather go work on games. Like, full dive and stuff! Being a noob with noodly fingers, all he could dream about is playing really impressively immersive games. Too bad here, in this highly advanced, interplanetary empire, there isn’t so much a Tetris, never mind any actual video game except the virtual mecha fights.

Well, from a different perspective, the loss of gaming has increased Cheng Zhaoci’s comic drawing output. It’s not a bad thing, but Cheng Zhaoci isn’t cheered up any.
