“Ah, to be young again,” the Chairman of Chief Command says, watching Cheng Zhaoci wave goodbye to his dad joyfully.

“Damn right,” Lu Yao concurs, “xiao-Zhuo is fortunate. I’ve never seen a male like xiao-Ci.”

“Neither have I. I’ve seen what he creates. He is a creative; if he was born when we were much younger, we’d be beating each other senseless to have him,” comments the Chairman, who then feels a gaze upon him; it’s the President, sulking behind him.

The Chairman then wraps his arm around Bai Jiawen’s own, “but baby, you’re always the best one for me. It was just a metaphor.”

“Eww,” Lu Yao is disgusted, “I’m too old for this shit. Can you not do it in front of me?”

“What, I thought you called yours ‘baby’ all the time?” The Chairman is clearly unhappy with Lu Yao’s double standard.

“Mine are emotional, affectionate; yours are simply indulgent,” Lu Yao is an exemplar of the phrase ‘shameless in old age,’ “we’re different.”

“I had them pack the mecha with you,” Bai Jun tells Cheng Zhaoci with a grim tone, “if you really are in danger, get on board. The weapons are leaps above what our best current weapons are.”

“… Huh? Oh,” Cheng Zhaoci is only a shut-in who can’t start a mecha if his life depended on it. He simply suspects Bai Jun doesn’t want his proud and unique male-adjusted mecha to be a 1:1 model decoration at home, so he wants to somehow see him put it to use.

“Make sure you come back,” wails a tearful Xiao Ji; the tone and the extremely poor choice of words almost convinces Cheng Zhaoci he’s heading off to sacrifice his life.

Cheng Zhaoci bonks Xiao Ji on his fuzzy head, “stop crying. You’re really scaring me,” it’s not like he’s not coming back.

“You’re going off somewhere far away by yourself for the first time,” He Huaijian explains, “we can’t help ourselves.”

“Make sure to act tough outside,” Cheng Jin advices; when Cheng Zhaoci packs his exuberant personality away, his appearance is deterrent enough.

Cheng Zhaoci “…”

“Got it.”

After the partings, Cheng Zhaoci finally boards the military spaceship.

It’s entirely autonomous; the AI drives better than any insectoid. There are also domestic robots on board to deal with meals and laundry.

Being capable of passing through warp gates without discomfort, the ship wouldn’t take more than a few hours to reach its destination. Cheng Zhaoci can simply draw comics the entire way.

After making up his mind, he retreats to his room when he stops frozen, “is this a water bed?” And also, round, rose red, basically as suggestive as can be.

The AI on board speaks up, [Yes, mister, and the water bed also features massage and vibration capabilities with multiple settings]

“…”

Cheng Zhaoci is in shock. Really, this thing doesn’t look like it’s designed for any normal type of ‘sleeping.’ Wait, did the First Research Institute come up with this?! He thought they were doing actual, scientifically significant research and development in there!

He can’t help but gasp a little. Then he carefully nudges his way over onto the bed. As he sits down, a drawer pops out from beneath the bed. The contents… Holy Jesus Christ! Excitement?! What in the actual fuck are all of these things?! He can’t remember ever seeing anything resembling these growing up in the insectoid society!

Bai Jun is standing some ways back on the tarmac, watching the spaceship depart into the vastness of the universe. He says, “I hope everything I prepared for him will be useful.”

“Everything? You mean the mecha on board?” The Chairman speaks rather frankly, “males don’t usually like mechas and weapons…”

“Not the mecha, but the water bed and some other situational equipment. I studied and made them all, one-by-one. They’re all handcrafted and extremely safe to use,” Bai Jun proudly explains, “father, you said I should make it as comfortable as I could, right? So I’ve made sure it’s packed with lots of stuff that will help them smoothly ease into the experience comfortably.”

Everyone is looking at Bai Jun now; Bai Jiawen gives his utterly inappropriate male son a bonk on the head, “if you were half as smart about these things in your everyday life as you are about their time together, you would never have stayed single until the ripe age of 70-something and growing.”
