As for the second arc, Cheng Zhaoci is going to contrast it with the first arc, where the male has fallen for the demi, by having the male and demi actually having to live together in reality, which is very different from an idealised, dreamy romance. It will focus on the process of coming back down to earth from a romantic dream.

The young male doesn’t actually have any skills – the demi has to take up the mantle of keeping everyday necessities in order. The male’s family offers financial support, but that’s it, while the demi also wants to ensure the young male doesn’t have a worse quality of life than when he was staying with his family.

Cheng Zhaoci actually got in contact with his editor to get a figure for the average salary of such freelance reporters. Knowing they generally get by and nothing more, he has the next parts of the plot set well.

The male sees how hard the demi is working himself, and feels a little shameful. He feels like a burden to the demi; he likes the demi, so he wants to see him smile more.

After another day of the demi falling asleep in exhaustion as soon as he gets home, the male has decided, he needs to help the demi as well. He needs to find a job.

It is, however, unheard of for a male to work. There are no jobs that would hire males. Fortunately, the insectoid society also has gigs that allows working from home. They might strictly require IDs, but the male can simply borrow the demi’s.

Though this would lead to a clash of values – the demi does not wish for the male to work.

Other males can enjoy life surrounded by shemales and demis all around, without having to work a day of their life. He will not stand to watch his beloved young male having to work a living.

By this point, Cheng Zhaoci is reminded of his dad. He kept acting like he has done Cheng Zhaoci a great disservice on the landfill planet, finding sorrow in the fact that other males have what his own son does not.

Being able to reference a real-life example has made his writing easier.

There will be other minor conflicts in the waiting because of their difference in values and understandings. Cheng Zhaoci doesn’t think that throwing tantrums or arguing are signs of a failing relationship. The two insectoids grew up differently and had different education. An amount of negotiation and concession must follow.

And discomfort will certainly be a given during this process, because they will have to accommodate each other to a certain degree.

Of course, this gentle nudge back down to reality is still sweet in general – the young male is soft in personality, while the demi will never be angry at the young male.

Overall, the story has gained a bit of realism what it lost in idealised romance. A bit, because it is already very uncommon to meet such a shut-in male who only marries one single shemale or demi in the actual insectoid society.

Cheng Zhaoci is trying to create a believable interaction here, the kind that arises naturally as days pass, and small couples’ spat come and go, but they’re still lovey-dovey all the same.

For example, the demi might puff up his cheeks and sulk knowing the male wants to get a job, but the male will come over, snuggling, explaining himself softly, and the demi will acquiesce and compromise in the end.

Like some of those actual couples in Cheng Zhaoci’s past life, whose everyday lives aren’t remarkable or exciting, but it can put a smile on the face of everyone around.

When they finally settle on the perfect way of life for them, and have become a cohesive family unit, the demi will make good on his promise to take the young male to see the world.

That is when the twist comes. War strikes without a warning.

They will be caught dead centre during a holiday, assaulted by insectoidal species.

The army will mobilise in the chaos, and will immediately move to evacuate all known males here, including our protagonist.

When the male is being forced into the military vessel, he will still be yelling for the demi’s name.

There are too many insectoids trapped on the planet, however, his beloved demi buried among them, too obscured to be seen.

The male will try desperately to get the door to open back up, but he will be stopped. They will tell him, “everything is going to be alright. You can marry another concubine in the future; what else could be more important than staying alive?”

The male will cry and retort. He only likes him. He only has eyes for him.

He will not be understood by anyone around him. They will agree with the insectoid who stopped him. There is nothing more important than staying alive.

It will be the first time ever, that the scaredy, socially anxious male yells out at strangers. No one can ever be like the demi to him. He will be with him.

Unfortunately, males, being all-too-treasured in insectoid society, will never be let back down onto an active battlefield. They will never let him kill himself.

The male will be hustled back home. His family will be happy, because they know he is pretty handsome, with the only misfortune being his meek personality and falling head over heels for that demi who even ends up making the male having to work for his own living.

They cannot accept such a cijun who lets his xiongzhu work. He does not deserve the male.

So they are also among those who will persuade the male to look for another one. A better one.

The male will assert, again and again, that he likes the demi. No one can replace the demi for him.

His family and friends will simply tell him sure, but time will heal all wounds. He will forget, meet a better shemale or demi, and then know that this all isn’t much to worry about.

The male will come to understand that no one else understands him. No one knows why he wants the demi as his cijun, because they think it is atrocious for the male to still have to earn money. He should just get some more concubines.

They will shower him with pity from on high, assuming all sorts of tragic mishap having befallen him in his days.

Tragic? No. The male knows. His days are such bliss and happiness when spent with his favourite, beloved demi, the demi that is his cijun.

He has been happy with him. Why does not one understand?

In the past, he ends up even more withdrawn than the past.

He does not move out to return to his family. Continuing to live in the little house he and the demi had, he used the skills he has learned to make a living. He has grown up, matured.

For a while, he will follow every piece of news about the war, reading everything over and over, the list of victims, especially. Every time an entry reads ‘Unidentifiable Remains’ or simply, he will be unnerved, frightened, afraid that it turns out to be his cijun.

He will also be waiting for the day the demi sends him a message, even though he knows, his cijun‘s holodeck has broken during the initial chaos.

That’s the second arc done.

Cheng ‘the Merciless’ Zhaoci writes down ‘Arc 2 Fin.’ on the very end of this chapter.

“I suggest you go into hiding for a while after publishing the comic,” Zhou Luoluo appears to have been standing behind him for a while, as he makes the advice in earnest, “if you don’t want some of those who know you’re BombInMyPants to try and shower you with… a warm welcome,” and in fact, if Zhou Luoluo wasn’t already pre-assured that this story has a happy ending, he would be giving him such a warm welcome right now.

“… Yeah, sure.”
