“So what’s your name?” Lu Yao asks.

“Cheng Zhaoci!” Cheng Zhaoci replies without delay.

Oh? Lu Yao remembers the name, or rather, he’s been mentioned quite often since his grandson rescued him from a landfill planet.

He’s heard of him from his comic, from politicians, and even those single-minded researchers.

Well, in spite of that, he hasn’t tried to learn more about him. His age also means he believes himself well past loving stuff like comics. All he knows, is that his grandson rescued him, and because of outstanding circumstances, the male needs to be personally protected.

Knowing his grandson isn’t interested in males in general, Lu Yao didn’t pay much attention to this, and just let Wei Zhuo do what he believed was best.

It turns out, he got himself a xiongzhu from a landfill planet, huh?

Lu Yao is definitely intrigued now. He also remembers that he felt it was unfortunate his grandson wasn’t interested in males when he overheard discussions about how this male might have grade S aptitude.

“I haven’t eaten yet,” Lu Yao replies, having decided to come only this afternoon.

“Would you like to eat together?” Cheng Zhaoci is now trying his best to calm down and face Lu Yao more naturally. He isn’t doing a very good job of that, though.

“And you’re cooking…?” Lu Yao asks in disbelief. ‘A male who cooks’ is like an oxymoron. Is life so backwards and downtrodden on landfill planets that even young male children have to cook their own meals now?

“I can cook a little, but I’m not as good as the Squadron Leader,” Cheng Zhaoci explains, believing the Marshal to have tried his own grandson’s cooking. He would rather not give false hope to him and end up failing his expectations.

“You’re doing your cooking here?”

“I, I thought that the Squadron Leader would be off work soon, so I wanted to welcome him home to a hearty meal,” and then to try and deepen their relationship a little… Cheng Zhaoci leaves off that last part, to save themselves the awkwardness.

Lu Yao doesn’t look surprised much, and just simply puts his hands behind him, and walk slowly behind Cheng Zhaoci as he enters the kitchen to cook.

Finally, Wei Zhuo is home after ten. He sees the house is lit up.

Is the good little male visiting so late at night? Or perhaps, is granddad here?

When he enters, he can smell the goodness on the table – several dishes of home-cooked meals. Wei Zhuo widens his eyes a little, and, seemingly realising something, quickly heads for the kitchen.

Is Cheng Zhaoci here? Did he cook these?

Wei Zhuo can feel his heart beating more and more quickly, threatening to jump out his chest, even, until it almost comes to an abrupt stop when he sees what’s going on inside the kitchen.

Cheng Zhaoci is cooking with stiff hands and straightened back, while Lu Yao is observing from the side with his hands behind him, like some instructor inspecting his disciple’s work.

“Mi-mister Cheng Zhaoci? Granddad?!” Why are these two here together?!

They finally notice he’s home, and Cheng Zhaoci greets him happily, “Mr Wei! You’re home!”

Lu Yao, though, walks over with a rather grim look, “come with me.”

Cheng Zhaoci then locks eyes with Wei Zhuo, who tells him he’ll just be a minute, and follows after Lu Yao.

Cheng Zhaoci is quite nervous. What will they talk about? Military affairs? Or… himself? This sudden first meeting with the in-laws really has him on edge.

If he knew he was going to meet the general today, he would definitely have dressed himself up better and planned everything ahead. He might still be nervous seeing the Marshal, but at least, he won’t be panicking as much!

“You must get together with this male!” Is the first thing Lu Yao tells Wei Zhuo when they’re in his bedroom and the door has been shut.

Wei Zhuo “…”

“Never let him go! Listen to ‘pa. ‘Pa knows what’s best for you,” Lu Yao is glaring at Wei Zhuo now, “I’ve never seen another male like him! Never let him fall into someone else’s hands, you hear me?”

Wei Zhuo is still silent. Lu Yao can’t take it anymore, and gives his grandson a big slap on the bumcheeks, “you’re grade S! You’ve got the bod! You need to seize your advantages! And grasp the male’s heart firmly in your hands!”

Wei Zhuo is all shaken, explaining, “granddad, the male and I, we aren’t, we haven’t confirmed our relationship yet.”

“He’s already cooking for you at your home! What do you mean you haven’t confirmed?!” Lu Yao isn’t buying any of it, “you’re just too embarrassed to admit, aren’t you?”

“I…” Wei Zhuo is beet red now, “I don’t know how to.”

“Aren’t you usually straight as an arrow? What’s all this dancing around the issue for?” Lu Yao is clearly despising his grandson now, “I was never as much a chicken when I was going after your grandfather!”

“Just wait and see,” Lu Yao doesn’t say what Wei Zhuo should be waiting and watching out for, which is the fact that he’s going to Cheng Zhaoci’s account to read his comic. He must learn more about this male at once!

So Wei Zhuo quietly slinks back to the kitchen to help Cheng Zhaoci. It’s, it’s just too inappropriate to have a male cook for him.

When the meal is up, and they are all seated around the dinner table, Cheng Zhaoci can see that Lu Yao is smiling at him. Very, very creepily, enough to give him the heebie-jeebies.

Lu Yao, though, is just feeling better and better about the male the more he learns about him, “xiao-Ci, you sure are a jack of all trades, aren’t you?”

“Oh, you flatter me; I’m nowhere near as capable,” he’s just a noob who can die in a matter of seconds in a virtual mecha fight.

Wei Zhuo has started eating in the meantime, and under the influence of his thick rose-tinted… tongue, he finds the meal the best he has ever had in his entire life, “yes, the male is very capable whatever he does. He is always bringing new surprises.”

R-really?

“Right? He draws very well, and he is very handsome. He can also cook. I really haven’t seen a male as amazing as he is,” the Grand Marshal says.

Wei Zhuo keeps going, “and to top it all off, Mr Cheng Zhaoci is even interested in mecha and virtual mecha fighting. He plays quite often.”

“Well, isn’t that a respectable feat?” The Grand Marshal comments, “I have never seen a male who is interested in mechas!”

Wei Zhuo then smiles, “the male is also very gentle and mature. He takes good care of everyone around him. He is independent and spirited.”

“It is definitely rare to see a male working a living, especially when xiao-Ci is not even an adult yet!”

Cheng Zhaoci… does not know what to do anymore. He feels like his cheeks are hot enough to be an impromptu skillet.
