During the idle chatter, Cheng Zhaoci asks Lu Yao about the authorisation to visit the frontline. The Grand Marshal then laughs at him.
“Authorisation? First, you have to be xiao-Zhuo’s officially registered xiongzhu, and you need to undergo a physical aptitude test. Safety is paramount if a male was ever to be allowed on the frontline,” Lu Yao then caresses Cheng Zhaoci on his fuzzy head, “Wei Zhuo isn’t the commander of the operation, so he’s not stuck there. Even if the war lasts for a long time, he could still teleport home every once in a while.”
Apparently, ‘teleportation gates’ is this recently developed new technology that is set up as a secure link between the frontline and the Capital. It’s an expensive, point-to-point technology suitable for travel by individual insectoids and no larger, skipping the long space flight entirely.
In the past, it was impossible to be let leave the battlefield in the middle of the war unless dishonourably discharged.
This technology is actually still fresh off the grill, developed by Bai Jun’s team not long ago.
It’s quite the innovation despite its flaws, with tactical applications like sending generals instantaneously if needed.
The fact that he and Wei Zhuo can still meet makes Cheng Zhaoci ecstatic!
He doesn’t know about war developments or is a soldier, nor can he help Wei Zhuo fight, but he can still make money, save for their future, give his future shemale a lovely life ahead.
While he’s still working on the last chapters of his comic that would make up the last arc, Zhou Xiaobao’s first chapter is out.
Cheng Zhaoci clicks out of curiosity, and he fails to make it through the first page.
Oh holy baJesus! He really, really has trouble digesting this kind of style and plot.
He then decides to tour the comments. It’s not very lively, as it’s the first chapter of a new comic series, but it’s more than enough for a new comic artist. Several comments seem enthusiastic about the ‘riveting’ plot developments. Cheng Zhaoci knows from these comments that the plot has stopped just past the point when the protagonist demi and a certain fiendishly handsome and bossy male had their drunken one-night stand.
Well——That sure is quick.
Aside from those comments, some are also questioning what in the world this illogical PoS in front of them is. Cheng Zhaoci then gives their profiles a look, to see that most of those who find it riveting are young shemales and demis, while the “???” and disapproving comments that question the artist’s intellectual capacity are generally from males.

Shemales and demis would never argue with males head-on… so they’re also indirectly dissing those who find the comic buggy and incoherent in their own comments.
Huh, it’s definitely a young audience, this comic, completely fearless in their Internet anonymity. Cheng Zhaoci thinks he is witnessing the rise of a great and infamous comic artist right here… Wait, actually, why is this second most upvoted comment from Zhou Luoluo? Right underneath the most upvoted comment from a demi yelling about how great this plot is and how handsome the male is?
Ah, well. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
After that, Cheng Zhaoci makes his attempt #2 at getting through the comic… He successfully makes it to the end, but all his mind remembers is a sleuth of monstrously large, blinging eyes and nothing else.
Then the comments… Oh, they’re drawing unwanted comparisons with Cheng Zhaoci’s own comic now.
‘This comic is so much better than that Bomb guy,’ etc. Saying how the plot is more interesting, the style is better, prettier, whatever.
Cheng Zhaoci ignores them. Style preference is subjective. So is whether a story is interesting or not.
Cheng Zhaoci then scrolls down this comment thread. Ah, a flame war – between the OP and a group of his supporters replying. Truly, one vs all, huh.
The readers sure are an interesting bunch.
As someone who’s already become jaded to Internet phenomena in his past life, Cheng Zhaoci has only apathy.
Actually, if readers who prefer this style of comic are praising his work, either the reader’s senses have had a massive shift, or his own style has a problem.
Cheng Zhaoci then stops reading the comment section that is visibly turning more and more pugnacious, and goes to check his own comic’s comments… only to see pages upon pages of yellow words on blue backgrounds or red backgrounds that are heavily critical of him. Oh, and there are also ones telling him to upload more often.
He completely forgot. Zhou Xiaobao’s readers might be turning on each other and fighting, but his own readers are completely united – in their frustrated hatred of the damned comic artist they all follow. He doesn’t even know whether he’d prefer Zhou Xiaobao’s comment section over his own anymore.
With his third chapter still in the works, he is yet to make himself deserving of warmth and cuddles from his readers.
