The other inspiration for the shemale is about the same. He’s a shemale Cheng Zhaoci knows on the landfill planet. Old, and often found boasting about how amazing he used to be, that aptitude he had, etc., in between using whatever he scavenged to exchange for money and buy alcohol. He’s often messy in appearance, and his usual line of dialogue is, ‘the military is damned corrupt!’

Cheng Zhaoci has heard from his dad that that guy did use to be a grade A shemale soldier.

However, he did something dirty to his fellow soldier one time during a battle – it got out of hand and an entire platoon perished. He realised his mistake and was afraid of getting court-martialed, so he escaped to the landfill planet.

And there were even times when he boasted of successfully ‘laying his hands on’ underage males without being found out. Well, given the moral decrepitude of the insectoids making a living on the landfill planets, and the fact that it was a drunken boast, no one knows if it’s true or not.

Cheng Zhaoci knew all this because of his final downfall. If what he knew was correct, the old shemale set Xiao Ji up, so Xiao Ji, 15, alongside his pal He Huaijian, descended on him and gave him a good pounding. His leg was fractured. Later, he died at the hands of other insectoids fighting for resources.

Do either of those people know that they were in the wrong? Perhaps. They just never want to admit it. They are the ones who would buy that things could change if they had another chance.

Of course, actions are more powerful than words because words are easy. Can they really turn their lazy, obstinate selves around and be better if just given the chance all of a sudden?

Cheng Zhaoci is sceptical. Though he will not be insinuating the attitude in the first chapter. The arc has three chapters, the first details going back to the past and the vow to change everything. A promise that he won’t become his despondent future self.

The first part of the second chapter will depict everything going his way – a hardworking shemale protagonist, who is doing his best to socialise and move up the ranks as well.

All until one insectoid comes into view.

Flashbacks would be included here to let the readers know that this slightly timid shemale ended up becoming the Grand Marshal after the protagonist’s passing in the future.

He is a stark contrast to our protagonist, whose past will be revealed here. In the military academy, he bullied the timid future Grand Marshal. Because of his family background, the timid shemale never retaliated against him.

The reason for this was that the protagonist is grade B, but the timid shemale is grade A. He was jealous. There were times when his bullying almost turned lethal.

It only worsened when they were in the military. The protagonist’s schemes almost cost the entire frontline. That shemale was gravely injured, but he was also caught red-handed.

He was always boasting about how he might not be A in aptitude, but his appearance and capabilities were not the slightest bit inferior. After the cockup, though, he just legged it for the landfill planets.

Now, seeing the shemale Grand Marshal-to-be, our protagonist will try to suck up to him. The drastic shift in attitude will not have missed the timid shemale, however. He will already have been bullied enough times that he won’t accept this sudden goodwill.

The timid shemale will still try to avoid the shemale, who will be patient initially, but finally, when once, bringing lunch to eat with him, but it ending up tossed to the ground during a tussle when the shemale refuses, our protagonist shemale will stop and drop his head.

He won’t be able to take it anymore. He tightens his fist, and punches.

His internal monologue will reveal that he believes he won’t do any worse than him now that he’s ‘reborn.’ His friendliness is an honour and favour to make it up to him. Is it even his fault if the timid shemale is responding negatively every single time?

The scuffle will be the first domino to fall. Then the panels will depict how the different choices made ending up leading almost to the entire same conclusion to the shemale’s future. In fact, he will end up having to escape to the landfill planet even quicker, only this time, he’s caught by the army, his escape unsuccessful.

On the day of his execution, he will, once again, see that strange, unnerving insectoid. The one who offered him the chance to redo when he was dying in his last life. It will look like he is the only one who can see him. Everyone else will still be doing their jobs without a glance.

The shemale’s eyes will widen.

Then, a completely black panel.

Finally, a panel with only single speech bubble inside.

“Your life will turn out better, will it?”

The end.

As for feedback, Zhou Luoluo says he’s got goosebumps all over after finishing. In the beginning, he thought it was yet another tragic story between a shemale and a male. When the shemale’s past was revealed, Zhou Luoluo thought he didn’t really like the character much, but was still reading to see if the protagonist really did change for the better. He thought he did.

And at the end, Zhou Luoluo was spooked.

[ZhouLuoluo: I’m just suddenly not feeling like going back in time. I feel like I can’t change a thing]
[BombInMyPants: it’s not necessarily the case; this is my view. no one has ever gone back in time, so no one knows. don’t get too attached to the plot, think instead about what thoughts crossed your mind as you read]

Cheng Zhaoci has only been transmigrated… Actually, more technically, reincarnated, perhaps, the kind with memory intact. He didn’t end up as someone else who has already lived a dozen or so years. There was no ‘original owner’ to pretend to be.

In his dad’s and friends’ eyes, Cheng Zhaoci has always been himself.

He… does have his own thoughts about the phenomena, but he hasn’t gone back in time himself, or know anyone else who did, and he can’t base it on himself. That’s why, it’s just an opinion.

Zhou Luoluo has more to say.

[ZhouLuoluo: I can’t say I dislike it, but I thought it would be more ‘tragedy of the shemales’ or such]
[BombInMyPants: … if I draw something like that in the current social environment, I might get put on a stake]

Cultural entertainment should be free, but trying times call for restraint. Those comics that might carry deeper, controversial meanings will have to be put on hold. He’s not going to inflame anyone.

It’s unfortunate that Cheng Zhaoci might not mean it, but lots of insectoids reading his comics will all have different interpretations. If some insectoid took advantage and steered the discussion wrongly, then boom.

He’s no politician, nor has he studied political science. He is not confident he can even predict the direction his works will be taken, not to mention guiding the lost lamb that is the masses. It’s most likely he will just be adding chaos to the mix.

Even if Cheng Zhaoci himself came out to say he did not mean something, those who spread their nefarious falsehoods have done so, and those who would listen have listened. In fact, whether more insectoids buy what Cheng Zhaoci says or what the others say is completely left to fate.

Then what? Prolong the long-ass war? When will he and Wei Zhuo ever be together then?! They’re a couple! They barely confirmed their feelings with each other and one is already on the battlefield. Oh! Woe is he.
